  4. As much as I would like to get things fixed, we wont ever get them fixed. It has to start with the family, my wife's family are all on the government tit. It started many years ago, her Dad worked in the coal mines in eastern KY. Unions "HAD" their place, however they grew way to powerful. Dues, and retirement money went to the leaders and left the worker about broke. So the unions lobbed the government to "help" with with assentents. Food stamps, electric bills paid, water, low land taxes, free medical and on and on. Now 2 generations latter, poorest county in KY. No jobs to speak of, fraud every where, drugs traded for EBT cards. It will take 50 to 60 years to "fix" what is broken.
  5. A large kettle is one thing we do not have, they are hard to come by. As far a getting the black to stay, cook in it, clean it with a plastic scrub pad, dry it very well(hot stove eye), keep a coat of bacon grease on them.

  8. The worst part of sub service, I am 6'3" tall, overhead was 5'10" to 6' high. All racks were 5'10", so I walked around stooped over, and never slept well. Other than that is was OK.
  9. A bit of an understatement. Down right disheartening.
  10. With a dull knife you push harder and things happen, bag things. I was a cook in the Navy on a sub. First week I went and sharped all the knifes, well the other cooks did not know what a sharp would do. Lets just say I was told to tell someone when I sharpen the knifes. I went to the mess deck and said in a loud voice, "I will keep the knifes sharp from now on".LOL Stainless counter tops do not make good cutting boards.
  11. My prays to both families.
