Darwin was watching close on this one. Bears do move VERY fast, 50 ft/sec, move from the bank of a river into the water and catch a fish. Now 50 ft/sec is at a full run, from a stop to full speed, less than 3 bounds. I can not find the pic, but did see some stills taken from a film the shows a bear move 6 feet from 1 frame to the next.
