Worked up my load. 3.6grns of Clays with a 230gr cast round nose gives me 730-740 fps. Which makes me IDPA legal and the accuracy is outstanding. Freehand at 20yds Ishot a 6 shot group of about an inch and a half. That's extremely good for my sub par shooting ability lol.

Im hoping between November and Feb, I can get around 30,000 cast. that would last me for the year. I just started about 6 months ago so I have had to cast all summer long. and when you are smelting lead in 100 degree weather it SUCKS lol
-
well this is on a conveyor system from an indoor range, so there really isn't much of a chance at all of the lead having a live round or rocks or anything in it. Guess I should have made that a little more clear.
-
Ok I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the help

Most tire shops will sell it cheap on a first come first served basis

Sent in Monday, Can't wait to shoot it this year
-
the good thing about idpa though is that its only as fast paced as you make it. Some might shoot a stage in 12 seconds and another might shoot it in 30 seconds.
-
That's what I use as well but I'm sure not gonna turn down free lead lol
-
I recently go a couple of buckets full of lead from a shooting range. Most of these are factory jacketed bullets. Are factory bullets pure lead and too soft to melt down and cast alone? Would Ineed to add tin to the mix? Any help would be appreciated.

Dolomite, do you ever shoot at ORSA?
-
Yeah they are wheel weights and I am very careful to make sure I separate all of the zinc and steel weights from my lead. All I cast is 45acp because that's pretty much all I shoot. I shoot IDPA usually at least 2 times a month and hit every major match between here and Florida that I can make it too. Plus all the practice and plinking, I probably go through 20k + rds a year. I have to shoot a little everyday or it just don't feel right lol

I'm used to the small powder amount I was running 4.1 grns of titegroup and visually it looked like it was less than the Clays.
-
4.0 is supposed to give me 790 fps. I have to be at least at 718 fps to be IDPA legal for CDP. I was just getting so much crud from titegroup, I wanted to try something to see if it would run cleaner and hopefully a tad less smoke lol
-
So who all uses clays powder to push their 45s? I have been using titegroup for a while but heard some good things about Clays and decided to give it a try. Hoping that 3.8grns gets me 750 fps pushing a 230 gr lrn.

No this guy has a diff name. Im really starting to consider it. its worth a look anyway. he said he valued the gun at about 950
-
well if it would be an easy item to move I may do it if the deal I have working now falls through. A guy is supposed to let me know in the morning if he is going to buy or not. I have access to a borescope and everything to check it out well so I may look at it. And if I do trade quickly post it up here for sale lol

I have a Safari BAR that I am trying to sell and a guy is offering me a trade on it. I just don't know enough about it to know if its a good trade or not. I would never use it and would just turn around and sell it outright. so I don't know if I would be losing money or making a good trade. This guy says it is in good condition and all original

as title says Marlin 1893 in 32-40 cal. I have a guy that keeps offering me a trade on this and I know no one who knows anything about it, so some info would be great

Any IDPA clubs hosting BUG and/or Night shoots?
dlmeadows replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
If you are new to the area and looking for a close club to shoot IDPA at check out ORSA. Oak Ridge Sportsmen Association. They hold a IDPA match the first Sat of every month. there is some kind of pistol match going on there every weekend. I usually always attend the IDPA match, its a good place to shoot -
Which scope Nikon buckmaster or vortex diamondback
dlmeadows replied to peleejosh's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I would go with the Buckmaster, I had one on my 300 Weatherby mag. Great scope, crystal clear and well worth the money -
I cast my own 230gr rnd nose and combine that with 4.1 gr of titegroup. My overall legth is 1.235. I get a consistent velocity of 735 fps out of my Kimber. These are my competition loads for IDPA. they are a little on the light side but as long as I'm over 717.4fps they are legal lol. No issues with accuracy at all, A 2in group at 20yrds is possible everytime I pull the trigger, as long as I do my part lol. Titegroup doesn't seem to foul up my gun that bad, nor does it seem to cause the barrel to lead as bad as it did when I was shooting a higher powder charge. Hope this info is helpful for you.

So I just bought a new Dillon 550 and I have reloaded several hundred rounds through it already. I was settled in at my bench and getting ready to do some more reloading, I have plenty of bullets, plenty of brass, and plenty of powder. I open my box of primers and find that much to my dismay I have none. This was a horrible feeling that I will not let happen again lol. Just thought I would share lol.
