Ammo has to reach a temp of around 500 before it will go off, so you have nothing to worry about there. And the heat won't hurt your firearm, think about the fact that all the guns that are being shipped all over the country are in non climate controlled trucks that get very hot as well. You run a greater risk of burning yourself than anything else.

I like the Solo's. Ive never had the chance to put my hands on one yet, but I would love too. As far as Kimber is concerned I do not think they are overpriced by any means. I shoot a lot of IDPA matches and my Kimber has never let me down, I can't say the same for my STI. I don't have the top of the line STI but the one I do have is no where near as accurate as the Kimber is as well. My carry gun is a full size 1911, to me it doesnt get any better than a metal gun with wood grips lol............except for maybe stag grips.......

thats exactly what i plan to do. im borrowing a glock to shoot a classifier with saturday, then i will borrow the xd to shoot one with. whichever has the fastest time and fewest points down will be what i end up buying.

i dont personally see the grip safety as an issue. i shoot single stack and cdp in competition so safties arent a big deal at all for me.

Mac Im from Cookeville as well. There is a IDPA Club in Gallatin that does a match the second Saturday of each month. A club in Brush Creek that shoots a IDPA Match the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. And ORSA in Oak Ridge that shoots IDPA on the 1st Sat. USPSA the 3rd Sat and Steel Challenge the 4th Sat. Brush Creek is 45mins and the GGC and ORSA is 1hr 15mins. roughly

you've obviously never tried master-tac yet then lol. i like blade tech but master-tac is better than anything i have tried in my opinion.

    Ya know I really don't care if they do or not. But I'm the only shooter in this area with a white LSU hat on at every match. I'm easy to find lol. hoping they get to see a whole lot of it at the Nationals lol

The only reason Im debating is because I spent so much time with a Glock 34 in my hands before I went the way of the 1911. But I'm wanting a 40 for uspsa major. I know the xds and Glocks are both fantastic firearms plus the xd is cheaper.

idpa is where i started in 2009, and i'll never stop shooting it, but uspsa is much more fun. thats a fact.

I'm debating these two handguns for use in IDPA and USPSA. I will be using lead bullets so the Springfield has an advantage already. Just want to get some feedback from some of the more knowledgeable gunners on this subject.

    I physically can not do that. I shattered the joint in my trigger finger into about 8 pcs and It will not go straight, there is just enough range of motion to pull the trigger. So I assume if you ever run me through a stage I can expect a DQ or at the least a PE lol
