Cutting the crate for the glass top gets sawdust all over the rifles - sawdust and cosmoline makes for a bad day...

No-One: oh man, why'd you have to go and show me that? I'm seriously considering getting a credit card just for that now, I haven't had one in eep, almost a decade. Of course, if I get a pallet of rifles I'll need mucho mucho ammo to along with it. If you order at least 5 crates of ammo to go with the pallet, they are only $160/crate, and the truck shipping on the rifle crate will pretty much cover the ammo as they can load it on the same pallet. So for $3200 + shipping you can have it all! Glad to be of service, I'm always here to help others spend their money.

For all you guys that ever wanted that Mosin crate to make a coffee table: http://www.classicfirearms.com/mosin-nagant-rfile-by-the-crate Warning! You will need to empty the rifles out first.

Easy answer. Get it out and play with it, get this http://www.classicfirearms.com/mosin-nagant-rfile-by-the-crate to put away for the kids and grandkids. Problem solved.

So it's really safe to take my tinfoil hat off now?

No upgraded barrel, as NEW barrel markings are on it. M91's rebarreled by the Finns would have a later dated barrel, w/ Tikka or some other markings. The Finns used most of their captured/purchased Mosins "as is", only replacing parts (including barrels) as needed. Is that a one piece stock I see, w/o the handguard? My screen resolution is not the best. Nice rifle!

So you got yours in 3 weeks? Sounds pretty fast for government work. I keep saying I'm going to do it, but not sure if I want to fool with the paperwork and ATF regs. It would be cheaper though.

an Interesting Mosin find 1943 Hex
No_0ne replied to vontar's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
You won't. It's been refurbed at some time, the armorers used whatever parts would pass muster to put it back together. -
For a second, I thought you were referring to Mr. David's dream...

an Interesting Mosin find 1943 Hex
No_0ne replied to vontar's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The Russians removed the equipment from the Tula plant in ca.1941 due to the proximity of the German army to the Moscow region, however there are known examples of Tula markings showing up on 1942 and 1943 weapons as the machinery was moved to the Urals and used to manufacture rifles. The markings may have been applied prior to the barrel dating, as that was not generally done before mating the barrel to a receiver, or it may have been applied by the Tula machinists in their relocated factories. It's also not unknown (although rare) for hex receivers to be used during the war. The most likely explanation is a re-barrel, but the rifle could have been assembled as found. Is it in 91/30 configuration? -
There are threads all over the internet regarding how unhappy folks are with their stance. Arfcom had to lock 2 threads, and I just read that Armalite took down their Facebook page over the negative comments they were getting

Anybody keeping up with the chatter on Armalite's response to people demanding they stop selling in ban states? Saw this thread at Arfcom http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_27/232662_ARMALITE_S_PRESIDENT_S_RESPONSE_.html&page=1 A quote from the thread: "Thanks for posting this email. I just received a concerned telephone call about it, an email from the staffer who stimulated the mail. I think a bit of clarification is in order. The root of the matter is a HUGE series of inquiries by both email and telephone asking ArmaLite to cut off sales to New York and other states which deny its citizens the right to own our rifles, as several other firms have done. Some of the contacts have been duplicates of others and some were so redundant that they appeared to be spam. Many of them have been rude and I'm afraid one of my staffers thought that he was responding to a spammer and was more terse than he should have been. Once he realized what happened he came to me and apologized. My purpose here is to pass on his apology from the corporate level and to answer the initial question: What is ArmaLite going to do? ArmaLite is continuing a policy put into place when California first banned our rifles. That policy remains: 1. We will not sell to those states which deny it's honorable citizens the right to own ArmaLite's. 2. We do not halt sales to individual officers even in problematic states. I am a former Police Officer myself, and the staffer who stimulated the recent anger is a currently serving one. We are well familiar with the fact that most rifles serving Police Officers are purchased by the officers themselves, and that they shouldn't be punished for the actions of their political elite. We consider sales to those sate subdivisions which are not engaged or potentially engaged with disarming its citizens. DNR and Forestry Departments, for instance, sometimes serve in remote areas that conceal drug farms and their officers deserve good hardware. 3. We will not sell to those lower political subdivisions that deny their honorable citizens the right to own ArmaLite's. Chicago, for instance, prohibits its citizens from owning ArmaLite's within the city limits so we make no effort to sell into that city. We have many friends on the Chicago Police Department and have continued to sell to them individually. Our observation is that most County Sheriffs disagree with banning sales of our rifles and many publicly refuse to enforce such laws. We sell to those departments and to their Deputies, but will not sell to those County departments headed by Sheriffs who would deny their citizens the same rights. In short, Americans need not worry that ArmaLite is selling to those who betray them. As you can see by reading posts on the topic, some readers have been harsh with their criticism of ArmaLite. It was in response to this atmosphere that my staffer reacted harshly. He's come to me and apologized and I personally am passing my own apology along with his. But don't be mistaken, ArmaLite is strongly involved with both personal, corporate, and political efforts at the State, National, and International level to protect our civil rights. And we'll continue to support your shooting needs as the situation moves forward. Respectfully, Mark Westrom President, ArmaLite Inc."

For an out of the way venue, they had a pretty good show. Plenty of room for tables and aisles, decent number of vendors with a fairly typical selection of offerings. Prices seemed to be about the same as most shows I've been to lately, no real bargains that I saw, but then again I don't price many items either.

Sportsman's Guide has the best price on 7.62x54r I've seen lately, see http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/OrderStatus/OrderDisplayNew.aspx They had a free shipping code last week, but it's currently expired. Use code "Tretail213" for $19.50 off, they probably will tack on a $11.00 surcharge for heavy shipping. You should get a crate for@ $174 if you are a non-member, $165 if a member.

Very nice work, and a great way to spend time with your dad.

Went today, wish I hadn't. Too many tables in a too small room. Small selection of firearms, lots of junk, most displays were camo, survivalist, trinkets, etc. Won't go back to this one.
