  1. Typically, on the rare occasions that the aurora can be seen this far south, it appears as more of a "tint" in the sky than the brilliant whirls of color you can see farther north.  I can remember maybe a half dozen times I've seen this apparition, someday I want to be far enough north to see the whole show ...
  2. Nevermind ...
  3. Good thing Comrade Stalin isn't around to see all these maxipads applied to proper Soviet weapons ...
  4. Series is loosely based on the Stephen King novel of the same title ...
  5.   Fixed that for you ...
  6. I've never researched an actor's views on any topic prior to seeing a movie, either the movie is entertaining or it's not and the political views of the participants won't change that one way or the other. As a result, I rarely know what any particular celebrity's views are, and if I do it's purely incidental.  I most likely won't see this one mostly because it doesn't sound very interesting ...
  7.   Looks to be your basic M44 refurb.  The ad apparently doesn't show any of the barrel markings, without those it's difficult to tell much more than that.  The price is about the going rate for the most recent batch of imports, albeit most aren't coming with the accessories kits like the earlier imports did.  When you get it in, post more pics and we'll be able to tell more about it.
  8. Your local library is probably the best resource for you to start researching genealogy.  Most have both the access to public records and the staff to help you with research.  Many libraries either have a genealogical club or individuals who are currently doing research themselves, virtually everyone involved in this hobby are both able and willing to help others get started with their projects.
  9. Same here, in the middle of recovering from surgery, no less.
  10. I made this cool time machine from some junk I had lying around in the shop, and mounted it in my grandma's early 80's car ...
  11. The 1986 date has always been completely arbitrary, I would imagine any decent lawyer could make a very good argument against the capriciousness of the decision to not issue stamps for  MG's manufactured after that date.  As for repealing the NFA provisions, I would also think that's a much tougher sale to the courts, as it's essentially a tax, and SCOTUS has ruled repeatedly in many cases that taxes imposed by the Federal government are, with few exceptions, allowed under the Constitution ...
  12.   Might be kind of lonely, the show referenced in this thread was a month ago ...
  13.   Yep, good situational awareness kept this from turning out a lot worse than it did ...         IMO, there are no "pretty textbook" emergency landings, things can go south far too quickly and every situation is unique ...
  14. If you shoot anything like me, a shotgun loaded with buck is a weapon of mass destruction, normally things you didn't intend to shoot ...
  15. Reloading setup ...
  16. I miss that old black bakelite rotary phone ...
  17.   We can only hope ...         Cell?  What's that?
  18. Move to West Tennessee, everyone is leaving here, plenty of numbers available.  We might go back to 3-digit phone numbers ...
  19. Eh, the damn steering wheel's on the wrong side ...
  20. Good skit, funny, and very typical of SNL.  I don't watch it very often anymore, but it's good to see they can still do topical humor, satire and farce as well as anybody can ...
  21.   Tripped over the dial-up modem again, I suppose? :)
  22.   Ten snippets of wisdom from Mr. Spock ...
  23. For those of us who don't do Facebook, and can't identify one boat from another, what type of ship is the one in question?
  24.   Depends on which war you are referring to ...
  25. Unless you stay with .22lr, or take up reloading and casting, a round costing $10/100 will prove impossible to find ...
