  1.   The view of those two planets was impressive here tonight ...
  2.         Maybe nothing, seemed like this poster was working the thread into the gay territory with "fluffy chaps" and such ...       Stop interjecting facts into a perfectly good TGO gay thread ...
  3.   It's a fundamental law of TGO threads, the more lengthy the thread, the more likely it evolves into a discussion on gays ...
  4.   To see an aurora this far south you are going to have to find a very dark area.  Look into the sky on a clear night with no moon, allowing your eyes time to acclimate fully to darkness.  What you will see won't look anything like the auroras you saw in Canada, or commonly pictured in books, websites, etc., but will look more like a very diffuse "tint" to the night sky.
  5. It's highly unlikely we will see anything more than a hint of color in the sky, that's about all you can expect at these latitudes ...
  6.   A good read.  It was always cool to hear former pilots of the Blackbird tell stories of outrunning SAM missiles, in over 1000 attempts to shoot one down, no missile ever got close to it ...
  7.   Competing to always have the last word in one of these threads is almost never successful, mostly the threads end with something along the lines of "This thread is now locked, and the OP is now history".  Looks like you're well on the way ...
  8.   1. Maybe because you ignored TGODavid's admonitions to post something besides your collection of youtube tinfoil videos? or 2. Maybe because the tread finally degenerated into a bunch of random nonsense?   It was fun for a while, but it outlived any degree of usefulness days ago ...
  9.   Pretty much spot on from what I've read of their latest financial mess.  What's really amazing is that apparently there are still banks, funds and investors that are willing to lend them more money, despite the fact that their earlier shenanigans border on outright theft of capital from the previous loans. More proof of the validity of W.C. Fields old maxim ...
  10.   I've heard many optometrists over the years relate that seeing individual leaves on trees for the first time is the most common comment they get after initially fitting people with contacts or glasses .  I can also vividly remember the first time I was able to to focus in on the "big green blurry things" ...
  11.   Gangs have been involved in pretty sophisticated criminal activities for decades now, virtually all of the better-known and most of the lesser-known are engaged in mafia-like behavior, gangs are big business in the crime world.  RICO statutes and other similar Federal laws are often used to prosecute gangs and their individual members ...
  12. Next time there's a video you want that's likely to be hard to get at first, try doing a pre-order through Amazon or other online retailers, normally you get the item the first day it's released.
  13. As someone who has gone through similar episodes as yours due to dry eye syndrome, corneal abrasions, tear glands malfunctioning,  combined with wearing contact lenses for decades I second the necessity of scheduling a visit with an ophthalmologist soon.  Not only do they have more extensive training in eye-related problems they are also equipped and licensed for more specialized treatments, including surgery options and medications that can't always be prescribed by an optometrist.  It's also good to write down your range of symptoms and problems as a reference, as recalling all of your experiences can be difficult in an office setting.  Additionally, ask for recommendations on eye drops, there are far better options available than basic over-the-counter drops.
  14. Having your vehicles serviced at Walmart is roughly akin to expecting to get a gourmet meal through the McDonald's drive-through window ...
  15. Most of these restrictions are either standard FAA "no-fly" zones or normal airspace restrictions such as Class A. B. C areas which require transponders and/or 2-way communications with the ATC controlling authority - basically the same restrictions that GA aircraft have.  FAA rules on drones are somewhat murky as of now, like most new technologies, drone usage has outpaced the regulations governing them, so the FAA is using their regulatory authority over airspace to restrict when and where they fly.  The more advanced drones, like the DJI Phantom are now more affordable to the average person, thus it's probably inevitable that incursions will occur, and stiffer regulations will follow; to curb some of these incursions, the software built into the "smart" drones is being programmed  to eliminate flying in known restricted and/or regulated airspace.
  16. I have no idea when the OP posted his 6th post, but 5 were in this thread in 1 hour and 22 minutes prior to getting hammered.  Is that close to being the record?  If not, does it qualify for top 10 status?  How about a sticky for fastest banned, maybe call it the Dipshit Hall of fame ...
  17. If the struts are bad, then yes they can have an adverse effect on tire wear.  The tires are part of the suspension "system", each part affects every other part ...
  18. Why .30 calibers?  Most likely because that was the standard military caliber that the US adopted for both World Wars. Since civilian weaponry tends to emulate that used by the armed forces, it became the de facto caliber for peacetime use as well.  Wildcatters, who did the initial development of many of today's calibers tend to start with cases and loads already in common usage and commercially available, thus the proliferation of .30 caliber cartridges ...

Outstanding, sir!   Since it's candles how long before this thread turns into another TGO gay thread anyway ...
  20. 1.  Concrete for the floors - you can pour both the floor and the footing as a unit, if you're doing your own labor the cost may be less this way. 2. As others have pointed out, storing wood next to your lawn shop is just about guaranteed to attract insects and critters that aren't welcome in the other side. 3.  Doubling the size of your storage shed is a good idea, tripling is even better - it's a known law of the natural universe that the stuff you try to store expands exponentially over time ...
  21. It's so cool to watch these threads morph into something entirely new.  Next, it will be "9mm vs 45 acp", then wander off into gays ...
  22. I saw them in Memphis, circa 1979, very good show, made me become a fan of their music.  Had no idea they were still around ...
  23.   What he said - the car is going to wind up in a scrap yard anyway, as a rule any legitimate charity isn't going to mess with repairing/rebuilding donated cars, they're going  to want to liquidate them by the fastest and easiest possible means ...
  24.   I can see where that part would be a problem ...
