I'm sure that title piqued many folks' interest, for various reasons ...

A lot of these online sellers have no actual inventory, they are simply picking up guns through distributors and places like Davidson's. As such, they don't have the normal retail customer's protections or courtesies, neither do they have the cash flow to absorb the normal cost of doing business in the retail trade. The problems you describe are fairly common in this niche of the business, and should serve as a warning that while reputable shops sometimes exact a slight premium for their services, you do in fact get service when required. As others have advised, let your credit card company handle the problem, after all you're already paying for that protection, they have the ability to make the company feel more pain than you do ...

FFL dealers in TN that won't ship to C&R holders.
No_0ne replied to LCPfraTN's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
There's a lot of dealers that don't accept C&R's, not just in Tennessee. I imagine the verification is one reason, others just don't want to deviate from their normal procedures, and I imagine the volume of business from current C&R holders is negligible enough to validate their decisions ... -

This is a fairly densely populated area, at least before everybody became a zombie. I'm not sure if they ever mentioned the exact geography in the show, but as I remember it was somewhere fairly close to D.C., thus the "woods" there aren't going to be much like similar areas here, and presumably much easier to navigate through. I do know they stumble across a subdivision or town every few minutes when out driving, so maybe finding your way in the dark is somewhat easier there. As for the other group tracking them, again not hard, as the Rick's group is traversing through Negan's territory, which his group has controlled for a while. Also, don't forget that Rick and the group were being "funneled" all day to specific locations, a fact easily discernible while watching the plot unfold but one in which our favorite group of survivors were apparently unable to fathom despite the massive evidence in front of them ...

It was the first thing i thought of when they cut to black, it made me laugh. I did think the episode was unnecessarily long, and could it have been any more obvious what the group was being herded into?

It is typical for a lot of multi-season TV series though, it will be one of the hotter topics throughout the off-season. It's the modern version of "Who do you think shot J.R.?"

DIY Wet Tumble Setup... add-on Giraud Tri-Way cutter?
No_0ne replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
It looks like the Giraud cutter uses a 1/8 HP motor so it should work with a reasonably sized drum. If you decide to go with a separate motor check with your local HVAC companies, motors like this can be had for next to nothing used out of defunct heat pumps and AC units. -

have a M39 on order, need 54r ammo cheap
No_0ne replied to MountainDewed's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I don't "need" any either, but out of the goodness of my heart I was able to help remove the temptation for you ... -
This ammo was also apparently the rumored "second shipment" that's been inbound for a while now, the major importers are all saying there's none in the pipeline for now ...

Sportsmans Guide also ran a "flash sale" for this ammo at $189 per crate for members, thus the quick sell-out ...

M39, Hang tag or Imperial Eagle Stamping?
No_0ne replied to MountainDewed's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The M39 was chambered and rifled specifically for standard 7.62x54r ammunition, in addition to being able to shoot the Finnish 7.62x53 round. This was due to the fact that the Finns were involved in the war against the Soviet Union, experience in the earlier Winter War of 1939 had shown them that they could expect to capture and use standard Russian ammunition, earlier Finn variants had a chamber that was tighter than optimal for the Soviet ammo thus the change for the M39. Most (not all) of the earlier weapons were also re-chambered during this period to fire x54r (the "D" mark on the barrels indicates this), thus unless the guns were sited differently at later dates the standard 147 gr milsurp ammo is what it was designed for. Having said all that, most Mosin variants "like" the heavy ball ammo mostly because it was normally made to better specifications, being the Soviet version of "match" ammo ... -
M39, Hang tag or Imperial Eagle Stamping?
No_0ne replied to MountainDewed's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The rifles that Classic has been marketing for a couple of months are the John/Pat Burns M39's, sometime late last year Classic negotiated the purchase of their remaining stock. Pat Burns has had a few sell on Gunbroker since then, mostly those on antique receivers as well as some "parts guns" so she obviously held back a few, but the Wholesale Guns and Ammo site has none listed since the sale to Classic. -

I doubt it will make any difference who is elected. The importation bans on military surplus from Russia were enacted during both the Clinton and Bush presidencies, some are in fact voluntary trade agreements between Russia and the US and were originally supported by domestic gun and ammunition manufacturers. Even if the next president is an ardent supporter of gun rights the conditions which have precipitated the current shortage of 7.62x54R aren't going to change in the near future ... -
