The wife and I are out today and she wanted to shop for a bedroom suite we have not replaced ours in 10 years  We went in looking around. a sales man  came over introduced himself and offered us a glass of wine I knew we were in the wrong place  After pricing a bedroom suite the wife liked   it came to a little over 7;000 dollars I know everything has gone up but. WOW    at those prices I need hard liquor not wine lol  wife loved it  I was a little traumatized  however. did I mention this was veneer over wood   Done with rant now taking meds       Happy Good Friday

It's too bad that ole Fatty Fleming's not still around.  They had a going out of business sale for 50 years ...

Many won’t have a handful of kids. I don’t see posting a police officer at each and every one.

They count every single preschool in that statistic no matter how small. That accounts for the vast majority of the private schools, I think. Here's the link:

Ok, that makes more sense.  I tend to forget about preschools, large or small, as I never had any experience with them, either as a youngster or later as an adult ...

I looked it up yesterday, there's around 4,365 private and 1,920 public schools in TN.

Not looking to start any arguments, but that seems like an awful lot of private schools.  Where are all of them?  It's always seemed like here in West Tennessee the public schools outnumber the privates several times over ...

Apologies. Tried to say I was working off memory.

I do think it’s relevant, seeing as how red flag laws and mental health issues were mentioned. Not trying by any means to stoke the flames but I do think this set a precedent that results in at least a small portion of the problem of mental health in America.

I meant my correction was "irrelevant" to the discussion in the topic.  I don't know enough about the history of mental health treatment in California or elsewhere to judge the relevancy of your original point.  Sorry for the confusion ...

Nixon passed this legislation when he was Gov. of CA

One very minor correction, Nixon was never governor of California.  He lost the 1962 election to Pat Brown, a loss which most thought would end his political career.  Just an example of mostly useless trivia, and completely irrelevant to this topic ...

The thing that gets me is that if you go to ammoseek, some of the best prices you can get are some of these very unknown online dealers. I've ordered from them, and they are legit. But what I don't understand is, why do some of the larger suppliers, like PSA, not have their ammo prices even lower than them? I mean, they are doing much greater volumes in sales etc. than some of these small time online dealers. But it seem like those small time online dealers end up having the best prices on ammo. Hmmm...

Maybe because the ammo is still  flying off the shelves at the posted prices?  There's not much incentive for any retailer to lower prices as long as the sales volume stays relatively constant ...

  7. The general rule of thumb in the collector forums that I frequent is that any restoration destroys most, if not all the collectability.  I'm certainly no expert in Colt pistols, and maybe in that world restoration is looked on more favorably, but my advice is always "don't" if you want to preserve the historicity and collectability of a gun.   Be aware that any refinishing is going to leave telltale signs, markings won't be as crisp for one.  In that sense, it will never be in "original condition" again, if by that you mean looking like it did when new.  Essentially, it's in its "original condition" now, as its current condition is original to the treatment and use of the pistol. .Another thing to consider, what's precious to you in terms of family ownership may not necessarily follow in future generations, you wouldn't be the first to find that younger members of the family don't share your appreciation of it as an "heirloom".  Having said all that, it's your gun and you're of course free to do what you will with it ...

That’s stupid. It should be focused on abolishing the NFA, not the ATF.  Get rid of the ATF and we are still bound by the National Firearms Act.

Looking at who filed the motion, were you surprised?  I don't think anyone will ever accuse Gaetz of being overly intelligent ...

Don’t know what happened to my Frogs. We have put up a lot of points this year. We can’t move the ball at all. Georgia has been impressive.

TCU has very few players who would see the field on Georgia's team.  It's a physical mismatch ...

The weather man said last time this cold 1987.  And I am dripping water till it warms. May not have to but would rather pay for extra water. Than a plumber for bursted pipes  also keeping door under sink open so they can get warm air

I couldn't remember the exact year, but knew it was in the late 80s.  I was living outside Paris, Tn. at the time, the low temps hit -18 on the worst night and the high the next day was -4.  As I recall, we had something close to a week of exceptionally low temperatures that time.  I also remember discovering that I didn't own any clothes appropriate for being outside in that type of weather ...

Anyone on the west side of the state seeing any frozen precip?  We are officially in a winter storm warning in Nashville. 2-4 inches, which means we will not get squat.

There's been light snow falling in NW Tennessee since about 3 pm.  Winds are pretty strong, and the temp right now is 16 and falling.  Forecast says a low tonight of -1.  I'm definitely not cut out for living in a northern clime ...

  13. Anyone who is (or was) a car guy, and is of a certain age can probably name several examples of cars they once owned that would sell for far more today than back then.  If you're like me, one of the reasons i was able to own some of the ones I did was that, at the time, they were just used cars, and some of them weren't really all that nice either.  I didn't have the funds to keep more than a few (sometimes 1) at a time, so I changed them out regularly for others that I developed a desire for.  Some even got parted out, or scrapped (yes, I once took a Boss 302 shell to the crusher) as needs arose.  I don't regret owning them, or selling them when I did, as I needed the money at the time for other purchases.  This topic reminds me of the ones on many gun forums, bemoaning the fact that 'I remember when you could buy a (insert favorite firearm name) for $29" ...

I'll add this, my most recent purchase before I bow out of this thread ...
