  1. No, I have no idea what the first post is supposed to mean. I just take any opportunity to make fun of the Glocknatics ...
  2. My theory is that Glock only makes one model, they just change the numbers every few months ...
  3. No at it's core it serves as an ATM for Wayne and his cronies ...
  4. Theoretically, yes, depending on your definition of a team ...
  5. The Vols made history today. First Power 5 team to be scored on by a girl ...
  6. No. There's no reason to over react in that manner, especially over a decision that the SCOTUS got right ...
  7. And that's a good thing, a consequence of nominating and confirming conservative justices. One of the hallmarks of conservatism in jurisprudence is a reluctance to intervene in states' internal matters, as well as a strict interpretation of constitutional law. The SCOTUS upheld these ideals in rejecting the Texas case and their refusal to allow one state to dictate to others how to run their elections. The Trump administration (well, along with Mitch McConnell who has probably been more instrumental in shaping the federal judiciary to be honest) has put an indelible conservative stamp on both the SCOTUS and the remainder of the Federal court system, actions which will do more to benefit the country than any of Trump's other endeavors. However one of the consequences of seating more conservative judges is to lessen the influence that politics and politicians have on the judiciary. This is a good thing, even if it causes Trump to have a hissy fit over this one case rejection ...
  8. There's no scenario where the electoral college fails to elect Biden. The rest is moot ...
  9. But then people will call you a hoarder ...
  10. It's not too late to beg, borrow or steal one of those ice recirculating machines. The dope helped me, especially the ones right before therapy, but it was the ice machine that got me through. Like you, I first tried icepacks. Then I learned why everybody was recommending the ice machines ...
  11. Just wait until the therapist starts doing handstands on your knee ...
  12. The current backlog of orders will take months, maybe as much as a year to catch up. A lot of it depends on how fast the former Remington ammo plants take to get back to running full production, many have been shuttered or running at lower capacity due to the bankruptcy proceedings. Now that the election is over, once Congress has a chance to meet and any bills are introduced and die their normal slow death, at least some of the panic buying will taper off. We won't see early 2020 prices for a year or more, as current orders will take a while to fill and local shortages will continue. Also, remember that the glut of ammo, guns and parts caused prices to fall artificially low during the last 2 or 3 years, that won't happen in 2021. As for the guy with a million primers, that sounds more like good preparation and planning than hoarding ...
  13. If you're replacing the hard rive, I would bump up the capacity a bit, as going to something like 500mb really doesn't cost much more than using something as small as what came originally in your laptop. I like Samsung drives, here's a link to one from Newegg that's a good drive and on sale https://www.newegg.com/samsung-860-evo-series-500gb/p/N82E16820147674?Item=N82E16820147674&quicklink=true You can download a current copy of Windows 10 for free from the Microsoft store. Then you need to purchase a key to activate it (yes, for all the computer guys out there I know there are ways to upgrade or activate without buying a key), use some place like Kinguin.net and you can pick up an activation key rather cheaply https://www.kinguin.net/category/19429/windows-10-professional-oem-key Once you download and run the install, use the key and you have a fresh copy of Windows on your machine. As noted previously, you may have to go into the bios settings to allow your laptop to boot from a flashdrive, but this isn't hard. Find a friend to download the Windows 10 installation file to a flashdrive and you're good to go.
  14. Good to hear. After my surgery, I too was able to bend more than I thought I would be able to, however my trouble was the knee resisted straightening. I sat too much in the first few weeks after the surgery, with my knee slightly bent and that' didn't help the problem. I should have spent more time with the knee straight out, unbent, either when sitting or lying down. As a result, my PT was more difficult, as it took a while to get it to straighten out, there's still s slight difference 2 years later. Good luck ...
  15. Any info that anyone could give you about their experiences with this powder probably wouldn't be of much use. As I pointed out earlier, surplus Russian/Soviet ammo is not like pulling down old US ammunition. There was/is so much variability in the powders they used that one jug could consist of one type, another jug with the same pulldown date a totally different type. There are also pretty much no surviving records of what they used, and even in cases where records exist that's no guarantee that the powder used is actually what the orders said. The only way to know what you have is to load carefully, chrono the results, and watch for signs of overpressure. You treat Soviet era pulldown powder as an unknown substance.
  16. "They" should be called a snowperson. Or maybe a snow entity, since labeling somebody as a "person" might be some form of profiling. It's hard to keep up nowadays ...
  17. I've been through 3 knee surgeries and 3 lower back surgeries as well, even so far as a 5 level fusion. The PT after TKR is, shall we say, a good bit more "intensive" than similar experiences after any of my prior surgeries. It may take longer than 2 weeks for the "intensity" to lessen, but it will, eventually. The use you get from the knee afterwards is directly related to how well you do the PT though, another lesson I learned "the hard way" ...
  18. There's a good chance you know someone who already has one of these, if so, borrow it. If not, get one. Pronto. Now. Without fail. Don't leave home without it. The "ice machine" is infinitely better cold therapy than ice packs, in my case it offered the only real comfort I got for several weeks after the surgery. Mine was on fairly constantly while I was home. I can't stress enough (if you can't already tell from earlier in this post) how important I think having one of these is. I too made the mistake initially of not obtaining one, I learned quickly how wrong I was once a friend loaned me the one his mother used. You say it's an extra $250, I say it's a bargain at $1000 ...
  19. I've had my bionic knee for 2 years now. It works far better than the fragmented remains of the one I was born with. As others have noted, the PT is not one of those things you spend the rest of your life wishing to repeat, but it's a necessary evil that goes a long way in determining how successful your replacement actually is. Good luck ...
  20. Depends on how much you want to diversify. Right now you are 100% in domestic stocks (at least with those 2 funds), the S&P 500 and growth categories are covered. If you want more diversity, look into whatever bond (both domestic and foreign) and international equity funds are offered by Fidelity (I use Vanguard so I'm not familiar with Fidelity's funds). If you're not afraid of a little more risk you could also take a look at some sector funds, things like healthcare, consumer staples, information and technology, etc. If this is taxable money it doesn't hurt to investigate some of the tax free bond funds available - yearly returns are typically under those of regular bond funds but, depending on your tax bracket you might wind up ahead overall.
  21. Don't you mean break some windows and burn down a random somebody's appliance store ...

    Uptalking

All this can be avoided if you simply stop talking to, listening to, or interacting in any way with anyone under the age of 40 or so ...
  23. You may be right about the ARK funds being the greatest thing since sliced bread, but in comparing them to Vanguard's S&P ETF you're comparing apples to oranges. By their nature, an index fund seeks to track, as accurately as possible the index they're based on, not to beat it ...

    OH CRAP!

Very true, at one time people lived without Charmin, Bounty, etc. They also had no air conditioning. I'm glad I wasn't alive then ...
  25. If you can store all your ammo in a safe, you don't have nearly enough ammo ...
