  1. No. But then again, it seems that most of "the people" aren't overly concerned one way or another about gun rights. There are certainly some who are rabid anti-gunners, another few who are fervent supporters of unrestricted gun ownership and the RTBA. Most fall somewhere in between, and don't spend much time worrying about the subject. TGO is something of an echo chamber for the pro-2A crowd, but the public as a whole just isn't "all in" in the way that most of us are ...
  2. I'm not sure how passing a toothless bill with no legal merit sends a message to anybody, but whatever floats their boat, I guess ...
  3. They were the last place I bought crates of 7.62x54r from. They got a container or two from some of the last shipments coming out of Ukraine a few years back ... Edit: now that I think about it, it seems those crates may have come from Sportsman Guide. Is there any connection between those two retailers?
  4. That's one way to avoid another ass-whipping ...
  5. Could be any one of several things. Bad connection at the outlet, bad extension cord, etc. If your friend isn't comfortable diagnosing open neutral circuit problems, it's best to call an electrician out. BTW, open neutrals can cause some severe problems if high current is being used, and sometimes will only show up when the current increases. If your friend only recently started using heat in the RV, that's an indicator that the neutral may have had a problem all along, but only now the current is high enough to show up with the surge protector. It's not something to play around with,. this is a problem that can start fires with 50 amp services ...
  6. I'm not sure that's a good analogy. It's true that federal authorities have decided, for now at least, not to enforce their statutes on marijuana sales and possession in those states that have legalized it, however should they decide to do so any person charged under federal statutes will receive no leniency based on their state laws. You can't say the same about gun law enforcement though, witness the recent actions on braces, 80% lowers, etc. In any case, whether it be marijuana or gun law violations, state laws will be irrelevant if you're brought up on federal charges. I see this Missouri bill much like the "2A sanctuary" laws, mostly fluff ...
  7. Never heard of it, but a few minutes scanning through their website reveals it's an escrow service specifically directed at online gun sales. I suppose it's useful if you're buying a gun from an unknown seller with little or no feedback. I've never had any problems making purchases online, albeit I typically buy from sellers with good feedback and the vast majority of my transactions have been for C&R firearms. These don't seem to be plagued with as many problems as modern gun sales anyway ...
  8. Nullification has never worked out very well for states attempting it in the past. Numerous court cases have rejected the theory, attempts to introduce legislation that would effectively nullify federal laws, tariffs, or statutes have been repeatedly shot down by other states, and at one point we fought a war over this, and similar issues. That didn't turn out too well for the nullifiers either ...
  9. Wise man. I have bought exactly one new vehicle in my life, and even though I'm sure it was just luck of the draw it turned out to be the sorriest POS I ever owned ...
  10. That hasn't been the case in the last several years, at least in the US. Domestic manufacturers are pretty much abandoning cars in favor of SUV's and trucks, due to poor sales of smaller vehicles. The best-selling model for each of the "big 3" has been their pickup line, and the higher end models (seemingly) do better than the lower end, or even the loss leaders. Another mark against manufacturers switching to small, cheap trucks is the loss of profit potential. There's more profit in the sale of one high-end, loaded truck or SUV than there would be in 5 sales of something like you're advocating. Maybe the rest of the world might go for something like the old Rangers, Dakotas, S-10's and the like, but in the US they are a failed concept ...
  11. Just saw the bit about Tennessee investigating themselves for a "pay to play" scandal. If true, UT needs to sue all the players involved, for breach of contract ...
  12. Just out of curiosity, as I have no interest in owning one and never buy new anyway, what do these things cost?
  13. Hydroelectricity is great. However, like wind and solar, you need specific conditions for it to be workable - i.e. rivers that can be dammed at a cost that makes sense. Not all river terrains can be dammed, some are cost prohibitive, and some areas have no suitable rivers. You run into the same types of problems with wind and solar, even more so with tidal and geothermal sources of energy. Coal and NG plants can be constructed cheaply, pretty much anywhere, and both materials are found abundantly across the globe. With nuclear plants, costs and safety concerns are problems (and many of the regulations and restrictions artificially imposed in the US), along with disposal of waste concerns. While lots of innovations and progress has been made in other sources of energy, I don't see coal and NG disappearing for a long time ...
  14. Johnny is correct about this. I typically use a Roku as my Sling interface, there are a lot of free channels available on it. I don't watch a lot of TV, and don't have a lot of interest in much of what's offered free, but it is there ...
  15. Yes, and no. Sling advertises local channels, but its only available in select markets, mostly big cities. As I live in the outermost boonies, there's no local channels available to me. You can get an AirTV thing which will allow a stream from whatever local channels you can pick up via antenna or otherwise to be included in your Sling interface, but I've never tried it. The "Blue" package, which is what I use, does have a number of national news channels, i.e. NBC, FOX, CNN, etc. as part of the package. I sometimes use online viewing (computer) from these channels "apps" to watch as well ...
  16. Elon Musk has a long history of making rosy projections that don't pan out. I works wonderfully well to raise his stock prices, but real world experiences don't typically come anywhere close to his projections ...
  17. I have Amazon Prime video, Netflix and Sling subscriptions. I drop in and out of Netflix periodically, cancelling my subscription when interest wanes or I'm not watching enough to justify it. I'm probably about to drop it again. Amazon video is a part of prime, since I do a lot of online shopping with them it's a perk that I can use or not. Sling is my go-to, I have it on often when tinkering in my shop, as it provides some "white noise" as I work. I have had periods, some as long as several years, in which I had no TV at all - can't say I missed it much ...
  18. We need something like a DVR function for those times when we miss the fun stuff ...
  19. If I donate the $35 and one of the banned guys turns out to be me, can I take it back?
  20. As long as you're happy with them as your financial advisor, that's all that matters. I pulled my father's estate money out of Edward Jones due to an inattentive manager who failed to follow through on some account changes we had already agreed on, not necessarily because of poor returns (the money has done a lot better since I moved it out but in riskier investments than what my father had it in).
  21. Gunbroker is a listing site, they aren't concerned with how shipping is done or what sellers and buyers do after the sale (and shouldn't be). Plus, there are instances where two parties choose to meet up locally after a listing ends, and transfer the items directly - I've made several purchases (guns, not primers but the process would be the same) that way, all of which I bid on specifically because the distances between myself and the seller made that possible ...
  22. All of these posts are based on a false premise, i.e. that Trump gives a rip about guns, gun owners, the Second Amendment or gun rights in general. Unless he can figure out some way to tie it to another fundraiser, none of this will be a blip on his radar ...
  23. I have eaten a lot of tenderloin sandwiches over the years, had no idea that they had anything to do with Indiana. Why not just make your own?
  24. I'm not surprised. After arbitrarily re-classifying bump stocks as prohibited items, you had to know the braces would be next. Since the ATF and DOJ got little pushback and were even encouraged by the Trump administration to rewrite the laws to prohibit bump stocks, it was inevitable that they would eventually move against the "pistols that look too much like rifles" category ...
