Woohoo idiot Confederate Flag carrier not from south!

"As far as "treasonous secessionists" goes, where does it say a State cannot secede from the union?" In the case mentioned earlier, Texas v. White, the SCOTUS ruling can be briefly summarized as this: While the adoption of the Constitution basically replaced many of the Articles of Confederation as the founding document of the Republic, nothing in the Constitution ever revoked or made null the precepts of the Articles. Since one of the tenets of the Articles of Confederation was the concept that the Union of the States was perpetual and irrevocable, and the preamble to the Constitution stated that the Union should be made "more perfect", the notion that a State may arbitrarily secede from the Union was incorrect and violated both the Articles and the subsequent Constitution. As one justice noted, a "perpetual union", made "more perfect" was inviolable and permanent. The ruling further noted that the only exceptions to this perpetual Union would be by a unanimous consent of the remaining states to allow another to secede, or by a successful revolution, as noted in the Declaration of Independence. In 1869, when handing down this opinion, SCOTUS also pointed out that neither of these exceptions had occurred, as the seceding states had not obtained the consent of all the others prior to their attempt to leave the Union, and their insurrection had failed as well, therefore their actions in attempting to withdraw from the Union of States established by the Articles of Confederation and the later Constitution were illegal and unconstitutional, as were the actions taken during the insurrection. To date, no opinion of any Federal Court has taken issue with this ruling, and the official interpretation of secession remains that it constitutes an illegal act in violation of the Constitution of the United States. -

Limos, custom tailored wardrobes, exorbitant salaries, private jets and European vacations are expensive. They need every dime of those donations to keep up the appropriate lifestyle for Wayne and Co. Edit: At least Russian spies still work cheap. Maybe they can hire some more of those ... Translation: We have no intention of cutting off the money spigot for our vaunted leader. -
My guess is that they began the changeover to the hyphenated numbering system in late 1969 and that your rifle was made at that time. Like Oh Shoot says, if you stick with Ruger mags you're more likely to have fewer potential problems. If you're replacing the stock, I would be interested in the original, as I have a barreled action that could use one.

Jeff Foxworthy had a routine where he mentions this tendency somewhat obliquely. I'm paraphrasing, as I don't have the audio in front of me, but basically his point was "southern folks are as intelligent and accomplished as other groups. The difference is that we can't seem to keep the most ignorant among us off television". There's probably something similar going on with the Confederate flag, and other aspects of southern heritage ... -
Yes, it's been mentioned a lot. Some legislators are simply walking around the detectors and refusing to comply. Although I don't know for sure, many state legislatures have laws which forbid law enforcement or any others from impeding a seated member from attending a vote, I would guess that this statute exists in the Federal register as well. If so, any of the Congress critters who want can avoid the detectors at will ...

Conventional wisdom is that higher taxes are probably on the horizon, but due to the virus and the overall state of the economy probably won't be enacted this year. Similarly, more government spending is almost certain, likely a mix of stimulus and infrastructure spending which should help boost the short term prospects for the economy as a whole. Most asset classes are overpriced, and more volatility in prices is to be expected, but typically bull markets go through a prolonged period of "melt ups" before coming to a close. Personally, I doubt we'll see the massive rises in tech prices this year as we had in 2020, mostly due to increased efforts for Congressional oversight and possible new regulations including anti-trust suits, so that's an area ripe for a fall. As always, stock and asset picking will remain roughly akin to astrology, palm reading and coin flips in terms of accuracy, as you can always expect the unexpected to occur ...

No, there's plenty of idiots who just can't resist the urge to dress up in their camo and armor, carry their AR decked out with every known accoutrement and attachment, and parade around trying to draw as much attention to themselves as possible. Unfortunately, there will always be a number of nutcases mixed in with the normal bunch of over-dressed Weight Watchers dropouts who are itching to begin WWIII and who will look for every avenue to kick off the festivities themselves. David is absolutely correct, this is a time to stay at home, keep a low profile, and not give the nutjobs and antis any more ammunition against gun owners and enthusiasts ...

The NRA needs your donation too Erik. After all, we have to keep Wayne properly dressed, chauffeured and well-rested from his vacations in order to keep him and his cronies out of jail ...

I don't agree with arbitrarily censoring an entire site due to some of the posts/topics or users actions, but I do remember you posting earlier on what a cesspool a good portion of Reddit is (on opinion I agree with BTW). I have also found the same level of garbage being widely posted on Arfcom, one of the reasons why I haven't been on that site in years. There are many in Congress who are itching to bring the tech industry down a peg or three, and recent events have provided a convenient excuse to do so. I suggest that the decision to take down Arfcom is an attempt to mitigate the potential damage of Federal regulation being used to break up the tech industry, in this case Arfcom was basically the low-hanging fruit ...

All those wishing for Federal intervention into social media and tech companies in the hopes of preserving "free speech" should be careful what they wish for. The best model we have for Federal regulation is that used for the public utilities. If that becomes the norm for internet and tech companies, then pricing structure, content rules, enforcement of regulations, etc. will all come under the purvey of something like the FCC. Radio, television, telephones (conventional) are all under this type of regulation now, and as history shows, that's not exactly the Federal government allowing or promoting unlimited freedom of expression and speech ...

So the "new", conservative-friendly social media platform is secretly a Russian disinformation and hacking application. its almost too rich to be true, if indeed it is. It would be hard to come up with a more improbable but dastardly plot for a cheap spy movie ...

The things kids do for likes, follows, etc. includes examples that are far more provocative, revealing and potentially dangerous than what is discussed in this article. Star Trek is good too. I liked the original TV show so much, I refused to watch TNG while it was on - then saw the series after it finished, thoroughly enjoyed it. When the reboot movies came out, once again I figured they would be a poor substitute for either of the prior series, so skipped the first one. A year or 2 later, saw it online, and once again, wound up liking it. If they ever do another, I think this time around I may withhold judgement until actually seeing it ...
