  1. Lol. Yes, but this is a way to get together and meet some people and maybe find a deal at the same time. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  2. Also think of this as a gun and outdoors flea market for TGO guys. If itnpqns out Ill have some of my blades there at heavy discounts, along with some gun parts. Its not just a trade day but a chance to sell and buy some guns and parts and accessories. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  3. Would anyone be intrested in a trade blanket day? I wouldn't mind organizing it if anyone was intrested. Just a nice sat get together, bring out your gun and outdoor stuff and setup a blanket or table. Pick up some new stuff or make a little money selling some stuff you don't need or use anymore. If your intrested, post here and Ill get a date together. It would be at my place in Oliver Springs, TN if everyone is ok with that. Does a Saturday work for you guys? Like I said if your intrested let me know, and Ill set it up. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  4. Ill get one setup for sept/oct time frame soon. Do a 2 day camp with a shoot sat afternoon. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  5. Here are some pictures of our expedient ground forge, railroad track anvil, and some other stuff. Here is the rr track anvil, shop vac air source, cross pein hammer and tongs. Here is the expedient ground forge. Hole in the ground, with a side hole for air from the vacuum, rocks stack to make it a lil safer and hotter. It easily pulled welding heat with coal. Big babys propane setup Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  6. Wet Tshirt award. Nice lol. I stayed warm and dry all night under the tarp in my bag, and then got soaked standing outside talking this morning lol. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  7. Had an awesome time today. Thanks to big baby for putting this together and I was glad to meet everyone. I stayex dry under a tarp last night with my mummy bag. Nothing like falling to sleep in the rain under a tarp with no worries. And Dudley the deuce was worth the trip to see.... Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  8. Im coming. Im bring 3 sets of tongs, hammers, anvil, steel, grinders, etc. I also have 3 buckets of coal if yall want to do a ground forge setup, we will need power for a hair dryer and a shovel. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  9.   True. And highsides are always nasty. Ive seen a lot of dirtbike riders stare at trees, ruts, etc until they hit it. I learned early look where you want to go, not where your afraid to go or anywhere else. I drug half the pegs of a yz 490 setup super motor style back in high school lol
  10. I've scraped the foot boards on mine a few times, but I've always been smart enough to ease out of it a bit. He was scraping for a good while, so he has no excuse. He just ran out of room. He should have backed out of the throttle for sure. He ran out of lean angle and road at the same time Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  11.   The stock is about 5% of my cost in blacksmithing. Even if he is using a power hammer, thats a lot of hot, heavy work to forge those out.
  12. Copper leather rivets from an amish tack shop. Forget the diameter but its the larger ones. those are 1 1/4" long. Might be 1/4" shank or so? Ill look next time I'm out at the shop. And I may have left it slightly flawed to make it easier to keep jcj. lol
  13. Dress for the crash. Always. When I ride I wear a leather jacket, blue jeans, boots, gloves and a helmet. Ive had several friends go down without gear, and I have plenty of scars from riding dirtbikes on pavment in jeansand a tshirt. Never again Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  14. Thats an amazing price for the quality Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  15. Well, I forged one out to keep for myself, but after several inquires, I sold it. Now I made this one for myself. I call it the primtive warfighter. 8" blade, 4" handle. 1095 bar stock, 1/4" thick, 1 3/4" wide. Oak slab handles, 1/4" thick, attached with epoxy and copper rivets. Blade is convex ground, has a sharpened back edge. Point is a spear point for strength. Unless somebody buys it, this one will find a home in my camping and bugout gear. Yes I realize the front rivet is lower than the rear, I drilled it wrong. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

    Who has an M1A?

I read plenty of accounts of people who ended up with bent op-rods and just as many who said they had no issues with commercial .308 ammo. Some commercial .308 ammo is specifically marketed as M1A safe, so I think there's probably something to it. I figured for what one of those rifles cost, I didn't want to wonder if I would bust my rifle if the surplus ball ammo dries up. I also had the one with the full length barrel and wanted the 18" barrel. A barrel swap on one of those isn't simple at all. Yeah the barrel swap seems to be a fun venture. I really want a full length 22" barreled one and just found an 18.5" LRB for a good price. Either way I need to get rid of my AR to fund this Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  18. My dogs are like children to me. I too, will leave it at that. Dave S I won't. I'd do jail time if someone shot one of my dogs and it wasn't an act of self defense. And considering 3 of my dogs are 8 lb malti poos, thats gonna take a hard argument. I might do jail time, but whoever did it would be spending the time I was in jail learning to eat through a straw, walk, and form words again if they ever came out of Coma Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

    Who has an M1A?

Ive done alot of looking on that and still havent found a definitive answer. Most people seem to agree that as long as its between 147 and 175 grains and the right power its fine. Did you ever have issues with it or just didnt want to risk it? Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  20. I have always loved the M1A riflesand finally deicded to get one. Hoping to find a wood stocked standard or loaded and build a DMR style setup. Anyone have pics they would like to share to get the juices flowing? Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere
  21. 2005 GMC 2500 Duramax. Bought it for $18k. Tun3d it with with efi live, added air filter, full exhaust and nitrous. It was the fastest stock transmissioned Duramax in Socal, running 7.9 at 87 mph in the 1/8th. Guy offered me $25k cash for it which was way more than I had in it. Wish I had kept the truck Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

  23. So I'm ordering reloading equipment while I'm gonna this summer, and I'm going to start rolling my own this fall when I get back. So here is my question. I will be reloading .223 and .308 and I was wondering how you guys go about load development? I know a reloading manual gives you the baseline, but after that? I plan to build an M1A Springfield into a DMR style rifle and want to work up my own loads for it that are as accurate as possible. Do you guys make 10 with the same specs, shoot them off a bench at 50 yds, check results, tweak one thing and do it again? Or do you use 25 yds or 100 yds to start? Do you make 10 to baseline, or 50? Just wondering what the most efficient method to go towards working on a load that fits one rifle perfectly
  24. A .300 win mag AR? Oh yes...... I need to go wipe up some drool. Ill brb
