I see you coming in that get up......I'm running as far away as I can as fast as I can.
If I had the $2500 the base model of that cost, I'd buy it just to see peoples reactions while I walked around in it at Walmart with a 24 lb hammer. Yep. Though I think Elf magic makes them +15 Tapatalk ate my spelling.
Though, if I do get a M1A EBR, I'm going to do it with a Sage Intl mod. M14ALCS, it's expensive but I've always liked em BUT ever since I played with one at the Outpost Armory I have wanted one ever since.
Yeah I like the Sage setup for sure. My biggest issue with the sage is that fact that you still have to buy an M14 scope mount to go with it and it requires tools to field strip. Other than that tbey are definitely sexy Tapatalk ate my spelling.
The thing that turns me off from a M1A EBR build is that it makes it HEAVY, IIRC, those add like another 2-3 lbs with all the metal BUT you're a big boy Spots so I suppose you'll manage. Is that your Go-Gun now?
Yep, until I scrap up enough to add an AR to the family that's my only rifle. It is heavy, but its lighter than a 249 or 240 lol Tapatalk ate my spelling.

Screw you guys, I wear custom leather armor from Prince armory. This is how I roll. And my crew getting ready to protect you poor innocent sheep at one of the worlds largest retail facilitys Tapatalk ate my spelling.
I generally tend to agree...if I'm going to be static in a confined area (ie movie theater...go figure) where cover or movement is limited or non-existant, then I'm wearing a vest. If I'm mobile, probably not, unless there is a significant potential threat...(going to recover the daughter and broken down car in the hood at 1 am in which case there is definitely a ..."WTF were you doing in this part of town at this hour..." ass chewing that is going to occur). With regard to being mobile, the tactical response in my view is get the hell out of the area first (it is NOT my job to move towards gunfire). If I can't do that, it is to take up a covered/concealed position which causes a "fatal funnel" for the bad guy and the element of suprise and oppportunity to shoot first, at fairly close range to ensure good shot placement and multiple hits (preferably the head) because I don't know if he is wearing body armor or not.
Body armor? Head shots?? I'm not being rude, but what kind of place do you live in? The world is a dangerous place, and carrying a firearm is just smart practice. But if you are in a place where you feel the need for body armor, then your gonna need a rifle. And head shots? I can't think of a single instructor I have ever heard in the civilian world or while I was in the Marines, that would advocate trying to get head shots. Especially using a pistol in a self defense situation. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

Mobility and comfort are my big things. A pistol is a defensive weapon. If I think I'm gonna need body armor, I'm probably gonna need a rifle. Tapatalk ate my spelling.
To replicate this setup new with a Springfield you would be in Scar 17 and LaRue territory if you dont mind the wait on the LaRue. Unless ofcourse my numbers are off which they may very well be but I figure Springfield standard around $1300 then the chassis runs another $900-$1000 ish so $2200 on a base model $2500+ with a loaded or $3,000+ with a NM.
Your a little high on the chassis. You can buy a bare chassis for $600 and add a plain pistol grip and a2 stock and be at $700. So your look8ng at about $2k for a base line. Its like someone said above, different strokes for different folks. I traded my way into both the M14 and the chassis, so I'm in it for less than $1500 considering the price I actually paid for my traded good, so for me it made sense. And more than that, its what I wanted, which can make a big difference. Theres no point in arguing why not an AR-10, because thats more or less what you build with this, a heavy, but dead simple reliable AR-10. Tapatalk ate my spelling.
Showed your photos to a friend and he cried heresy. Then he made a valid point, why not just use a AR chambered in .308? Would have been cheaper.
Have you priced a piston driven .308 AR? Lol And I just prefer the M14, though he is correct, its basically a big heavy .308 AR with a more reliable operating system in this chassis. As far as calling foul, lots of people do. I worry more about functionality and ergonomics than some certain "look". Tapatalk ate my spelling.

I took some better pictures today, thought still cell phone quality. I can't wait to get a bipod and some glass and find out what it'll do. I'd be embarrassed to say what it would cost to build from scratch without trading some things and finding great deals Tapatalk ate my spelling.
How hard was the chassis swap? It looks good tho.
Having the right tools it was fairly straight forward. Just need a good set of allen keys, some loctite, and a rubber mallet. Took me maybe an hour. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

I did some horse trading and got a Troy MCS chassis for my M14. Installtion went smoothly, and I love the feel. I also added a greg mcgee 1200 lumen weapon light to go with it. Now to add some good glass and find out how she shoots. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

This gentleman puts violence in a good perspective. I wish everyone who believes violence is no longer required in our world could read this. I will be ordering his latest book very soon and will post a review http://www.jack-donovan.com/axis/2011/03/violence-is-golden/ Tapatalk ate my spelling.

Boro Officer ... bullet proof vest, person-to-person sale = trouble
The ones I see selling around Ft Campbell all the time are most certainly by turds who stole a buddy's body armor. I hate thieves in the military. Should be hung.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yeah there is that. We had a few thieves on the boat. One guy stole his rack mates entire flack with all 4 sapi plates. And thought he could hide it until we got back.... I've seen quite a bit of shit end up in pawn shops and on armslist from people needing beer money. Of course those are the same guys who are stealing gear like you said. Tapatalk ate my spelling. -
So, Is it illegal to purchase a " ballistic vest " that was issued to an active army person then sold by him after he had no more use for it?
Ballstic vest in the Marines (and I think all other services) are issued by CIF and are to be turned back in when you pcs or leave active duty. You can file a missing gear chit and claim its lost and may or may not have to pay for it. But 90% of the time that gear is gonna be stolen. Yes, if you file a chit saying its missing and keep it then that is stealing. Tapatalk ate my spelling.
