  1. Ive been tazed. Id rather get shot in with a vest on lol
  2. So we are way out of contract on our phones, and decided to finally upgrade. I have verizon for a carrier and like Samsung phones. Right now its down to 4 phones. The Note 4, Note edge, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. My phone has all but replaced my laptop for 99% of my internet useage. I also need something 2ith a good camera. Right now I have a Note 2. Anykne know anything about any of the phones list to sway me one way or the other. Im not sure about the edge models, not sure its a feature I would use. Anyone who cares to comment on those models usage is welcome also.
  3. Its been to long since I've said this but MAIL CALL. And its one of the best of my life. Late last year I went and trained with Dwight McLemore in the use of the tomahawk and bowie knife. He ordered a long hunter knife from me recently and I told him I would gladly make it for free in appreciation of what he had taught me. He decided to send payment anyways and here it is. He said I showed a lot of the intrest in these items while I was there and he wanted me to have them in payment. First up he sent a San Mai III VG-1 Cold Steel Natchez Bowie. This is a wicked bowie, built to be a fighter. Razor sharp, lots of reach and insanely fast for its size. Next up was a TAK knife trainer modeled after the Natchez bowie. Its excellent for training without worrying about accidents, works for sparring, and handles a lot like the Natchez. The last thing in the package is the Emerson CQC-T Tomahawk. This thing is wicked. Shaving sharp, and that spike is insane. 13" handle and handles like a dream. Orings on the handle aid retention, and it seems to float in the hand. Anyways, enjoy the pictures, I am a happy camper.
  4. $80 to $100 depending on exact size, handle material, etc. That one is a basic 10" with oak handles and would bring about $80 or so.

    Helmet Law

You hit a pickup head on riding a motorcycle at 40 mph then a helmet just means an open casket.
  6. Thats my understanding also. The big elaborate blades didnt get popular until later on, and even then a large basic knife was much more likely. This thing is very close to an old hickory butcher knife, but its thicker, heavier and a little longer. Its my understanding it will be carried with a small patch knife, and that would be my idea woods setup. This is also very close to what seems to be the generally accepted knife used by Jim Bowie in the Sandbar duel. Thanks for the compliments everyone I will pass them on to my dad.
  7. My friend, teacher and mentor Colonel Dwight Mclemore ordered a new knife from me about a month ago. He sent me a very detailed drawing of what he wanted for his long hunter kit that he is putting together. According to him, this represents closely what would have been a normal blade style at that time. Very plain, blacksmith made, no guard, heavy duty kitchen knife. I have to say after seeing it in steel it screams all utility no frills. This one is special, as it was forged qnd finished by my dad, at 61 yrs old. This is the first knife made for a customer entirely by him, he usually just watches and advises. Now on to the good stuff. Its made from 1/4" thick 5160. The back of the blade was hammer textured and everything was left forge finished at the Colonels request. 10" blade, 5 1/4" handle. Handle is oak, fitted with brass pins and epoxy, and artificially aged. By far the coolest design picture I've ever seen. Hand drawn by Dwight. The hands that make the knife. Thats 60 years of experience, hard work, scars and calluses. These hands taught me everything I know. For those of you who know me, you can kinda compare the size. For size reference I am 6'1" and 250 lbs so it is a good sized knife.

    Helmet Law

Thats true but lack of vision is the reason for laws against wearing one in a car. Makes sense don't it
  10. Sorry, its been 6 years since I was in Okinawa and I havent drank it since I left. I forgot that it is a fermeted beverage. We drank the hell out of sake and Awamori, which I actually still love when I can get ahold of it. It is distilled, and is a product of Okinawa.

    Helmet Law

So whats the best way to voice my support? How to I go about contacting the right people to support this law? I wear a helmet, but I think its a choice that should be made by the rider, just as all safety choices should.
  12. Question. Are you wanting to carry it as a work knife, or as a self defense backup? Or both? I carried a small 3" fixed blade in an angled small of back sheath for a while as a self defense option. Let me see if I can find a pic.
  13. Samurais horseshoe. I was in Okinawa and the legal drinking age for service members was 20. Went out to get wasted on my 20th birthday and decided to do the horseshoe challenge at Samurais. If you drink all the drinks and don't puke you get a tshirt and its free. If you do puke you get to pay for it. Its serv3d on a hirseshoe platter and inckudes the following drinks 4 shot Whiskeys (Jim, Jack, Johnny, and Early times) 4 shots Tequila (Curveo Gold, cheap, cheap, and cheap lol) 4 shots Sake (Japanese liquor kinda like moonshine and vodka) 3 beers (Coors, bud and Heineken) Okinawa boat bomb (a shot of Habu saki in a Orion beer) Habu saki has a posion habu snake in the bottom of the jar. The posion bleeds into the liquor and turns it darker and is supposed to make it have slight hallucination effect. Drop a shot of that in a beer and chug. I got the t-shirt, and the worst black out nightmarish drunk Ive ever experienced.
  14. A Ruger or S&W .357 might handle it. An old Rossi .38 is a little to dicey. Dimensions are all different and the .38 Super has a SAMMI max pressure of 36,500 PSI as opposed to a .38 Special +P max pressure of 20,000 PSI.
  15. I had an intresting experience with my own dad recently. I was looking at the revolver he keeps on house duty, an old Rossi 5 shot in .38 special. Its nothing wonderful but does indeed go bang everytime. I opened it to unload it and notice the rounds seem kinda tight. The thing was loaded with .38 super! I asked him where the ammo came from and if he knew it was super, and he said it came from Walmart and the guy told him super was fine to shoot out of a .38 special.... He is not a gun guy at all, only keeping one for self defense, so he just took the guy at his word. I went and got a box of .38 special hollow points and took the box of supers home to stop any mixups. I will say he asked me the other day what wluld be a good Glock to carry. I was stunned and we will be looking at several Glocks soon.
  16. Thats a slick looking bike. I think we really need to do a TGO ride as soon as the weathwr clears a little. Update on mine. I decided to keep the struts for now, and ride it a little as is. I changed the oil, flushed and bled brakes and clutch, new plugs and wires, pulled, cleaned and tuned both carbs, new air filters, and raised the forks 1.5" in the clamps to even out the stance. Now it just needs a good scrubbing and some road time.
  17. Lets see here.... Used a board and some scrap steel to make a coil oil lamp holder and hat rack. Horseshoes and steel rod to make hammer hangers Horseshoes and steel rod to make a coffe cup rack
  18. I love riding. Even riding in a pack, theres a solitude to it that gives you time to think. I love a good 500 mile run, whether in a pack or solo, with no time limits or worries and a little beer and gas money in my pocket. I hate to quote Sons of Anarchy, I really hate what that shows has done for the club world, but this one seems fitting. " Something happens at around 92 miles an hour - thunder-headers drown out all sound, engine vibrations travels at a heart's rate, field of vision funnels into the immediate and suddenly you're not on the road, you're in it. A part of it. Traffic, scenery, cops - just cardboard cutouts blowing over as you past. Sometimes I forget the rush of that. That's why I love these long runs. All your problems, all the noise, gone. Nothing else to worry about except what's right in front of you."
  19. Yeah my wife still isnt convinced enough to ride lol. I love being on a bike as much as possible. I wish it was a softtail, don't make that kinda money yet though. Id actually prefer either a Fat Bob or a street glide for my next one.
  20. Sounds like when this weather breaks we need to do a TGO ride so everyone can get some wind in their hair lol.
  21. Yes, yes it is. I don't know if Im a fair weather rider, but cold and icy sucks. Ill ride in the dry above 25 degrees and in the wet above 40. But these single digits, icy rain and snow make anything motorcycle related suck.
  22. So last weekend, I traded my 1993 Vulcan 750 to a kid for a 1995 Vulcan 1500. The 1500 is just way to big and heavy for him. We both got we wanted out of the trade. I fixed the handlebars that had been broken, and was stoked to get my plates and ride this week. So far its sat the entire time, since this crap won't stop, won't melt off, and now there calling for another round tonight. What have you missed out on due to this weather that you were looking forward too? Btw, heres the new bike on Monday after I got it to my inlaws. And Wednesday after I got it home and it thawed out.
  23. I am considering doing a free class on the Fighting Tomahawk and Long knife. I will be teaching everything I learned from Col. Dwight Mclemore, author of Bowie and Big knife fighting vol 1 and 2 and the Fighting Tomahawk, along with several others. I will be teaching it with a blend of techniques and foot work from my 18 yr background in Hapkido, Taekwondo and Judo. This class will be held about 20 min from Oak Ridge, TN. It will take place on a Saturday in Late March or early April. It will run from about 7:00 am until 5:00 pm with lunch. You will need to bring lunch, and if you have them a live steel fixed blade over 7" and a hawk. I will have some extras for people to rotate through and some trainers. We will cover the basics, slow speed partner drills, and live steel work on a wooden pell trainer. If your interested post below so I can get an idea of how many would attend.
  24. Yeah I knew the M4's were 14.5", our Staff NCO's and officers carried them. And I love me some Sage stocked EBR goodness. I built a Troy stocked M14 last year and still miss and debate building an M39 replica a lot. While I agree the M4 is more than adequate to 300 yds, I just shoot better with a 20" gun.
