  1. I love my Glock 17 and have been shooting it alot. But the only way your making a Glock look good is putting the guts in a 1911 frame. I got a Glock because it's a tool. It's ugly and utilitarian and the perfect definition of function over form. And that's what I love about it. Can't say I'm a fan of the grey, I prefer the all black look. Sent from the backwoods
  2. I solved this when we moved in. I use the main bathroom in the hallway. 90% of the time I leave the seat up. She uses the one in the master bathroom off our bedroom. Seat stays down. Same with the shower, sink etc. That way she doesn't get to bitch about beard hair on the sink, or anything else. Sent from the backwoods
  3. Looks like a Thordsens Customs. Somebody else makes one but I can't remeber who at the moment. Fighting Sheep Dog , which is a vendor here, in Clinton carries those, and they are great on a pistol. http://www.thordsencustoms.com/shop/AR-PISTOL/p/ENHANCED-ARAK-PISTOL-CHEEK-REST-KIT-x3607311.htm Sent from the backwoods
  4. Fast and the furious with surplus 1911's? I would love.a surplus 1911, but what I really want to see if M14's. Convert them to semi auto only and watch them sell like crazy. Sent from the backwoods
  5. Rifle and pistol ammo. We have a reloading setup but haven't got it up and going yet and I'm not well off on 5.56 or 9mm. Also need to get my AR finished asap. Sent from the backwoods
  6. Some of us try. The laws are still there, but we are pretty well left alone. We raise our own food, build our own homes, farm our own land, make our own tools etc. Legally we aren't anymore free than any of the other subjects, but it sure helps to be able to say we could live without the goverment or any outside help. Which brings up another point. I, and I'm sure others here, have family roots running into this land more than a century old. My family first built on the land we own in the early 1860's. My entire family has been born and raised there and most have died there. I'd rather die and be buried in the hills where I was raised than be the first generation of my family to turn tail and run. 7. His buddy is an idiot. Trade a Beretta 15 rd M9 for a 6 shot Rossi? There's not a chance in hell. I wouldn't trade a semi in for a revolver on a security job anyways, but I definitely wouldn't trade a Beretta for anything less than a Smith or Ruger. Sent from the backwoods
  8. I'll fight and die here. But I loved my time in Okinawa. Gun laws are incredibly strict, but the people are clean and polite, the food is great, and the entire island is beautiful and warm. Sent from the backwoods
  9. To answer your question, yes you can carry a loaded firearm in your vehicle. Sent from the backwoods
  10. Yep pmags were $80, and went as high as $99. Surplus 5.56 went from $400 a case to $1000 overnight. They instantly pulled all their firearms, then added them back with some bullshit excuse. There was a lot of noise around the forums when it was all going down about how nobody would ever buy from them again. It was forgotten very quickly by most. I just dont like doing some business with those who don't support my hobbies and take huge advantage of a crisis. Sent from the backwoods
  11. They aren't bankrupt yet? Darn. I wouldn't let cheaper than dirt ship me ammo for free. Caving to political correctness and pulling their guns from the site when the panic happened, then deciding PC be dammed and charging $80 for pmags? CTD can choke on it. Sent from the backwoods
  12. G Johnson is hooking me up as we speak with a shoulder rig. His work is top notch Sent from the backwoods
  13. That's what I was wondering? As in a special forces operator? What does that have to do with a cop snatching a weapon from the holster in an unsafe manner? Sent from the backwoods
  14. Just don't mix up numbers and send a picture of your gun to the wrong person. Had a guy I was stationed at Miramar do that and accidently sent it to some Butter bars wife. That took some explaining lol. Sent from the backwoods
  15. If anyone is interested a local Veterans MC is hosting a poker run to benefit the Semper Fi fund. This a charity I try to support when I can, and if anybody wants to get out a ride this could be a good opportunity. Hopefully I'll see some TGO riders there. I'll be there on a black Vulcan, say hi if you see me. https://www.facebook.com/events/1439756943017204/ Sent from the backwoods
  16. Heavy weapons? I didn't see any barricaded heavy machine guns or MK-19's. I bet the rioting would have calmed way down after one long rip from a MA Deuce or MK 19. Sent from the backwoods
  17. Sure sounded like world war III for a bit though. I'm pretty sure the fence was broken by your mom, as long as she doesn't have an account here. Sent from the backwoods
  18. Thanks for the vote of confidence lol. Not many blades will handle pure abuse. And leveraging on the tip is abuse. It's a big reason I stopped loaning out knives. That said, have you considered a small 3" bladed fixed blade in an unobtrusive belt sheath? They carry very comfortably, are small enough not to cause alarm and are usually stronger than a folder, and easier to access one handed. If he is the prying type I can always make you up one of these lol. Chisel grind tip, just don't slip lol. Sent from the backwoods

  20. Yep. I hear lots of older guys who know a whole lot about guns use the word clips. It's pretty common slang. Just like a ccw. Most states issue a ccw, with open carry either being permitted by all or completely illegal. So the gentleman in question could have easily moved here from a state that uses a ccw. I try not to judge others intelligence on a matter by the slang they use. Sometimes they still know a whole hell of a lot on the subject they are speaking about. Sent from the backwoods
  21. I used to be into a lot of forums. Warrior talk being one of them. I just got sick of the tinfoil, the mall ninjas, the operators and the unarmed self defense experts. Now TGO and one other local forum are the only ones I even visit, mostly because I know a lot of the guys here personally. Hell both of the posters above me have shot at my house and been to my blacksmith shop lol. Not sure what to tell you abiut being approved, but be careful about joining some places. You will burn yourself out on forums really quick. Sent from the backwoods
  22. Legally the cop was within his right. I just disagree with how he went about it. Grabbing a gun from someone's holster is a big no-no and could have easily resulted in a negligent discharge and got one or both of them hurt or killed. If the man had turned suddenly to react to the cop grabbing at his gun it could have went bad quickly. If the cop believed the firearm was a danger due to the man being a criminal he should have got the guy off the bike and proceeded how you would a suspected robber, etc. If he didnt, and it seems from his attitude he didn't think the guy was a felon, then he should have politely asked for the firearm. I don't understand why anyone would disarm a citizen. It seems the safest thing would be for the gun to stay in its holster, safety on with nobody handling it. Then there is no chance it could discharge in any way. The other mistake was putting a firearm in his pocket with it in an unknown condition. Why not proceed back to the cruiser with the firearm and clear it there, or clear it while you stand there and then put it away? Lots of odd stuff there, and I would be curious as to what the police chiefs reaction would be. Sent from the backwoods
  23. If you decide to cerakote it, Fighting Sheep Dog on Edgemore road in Powell does a great job and they are vendors here as well. Sent from the backwoods
  24. I had an 88 Ford Ranger right after graduating high school. I had it about two weeks and the cam lobes were flat in the 2.3 liter motor. So I called up a buddy that dirt track raced 2.3 pintos. Solid lift cam and lifters, in the .510 lift range with 260+ duration. Header, 3" exhaust, I had the welding class at Tech school weld a 2 barrel to 4 barrel adapter to a stack of 3 4 barrel spacers for clearness and the mounted a 750 holler to the motor via the adapter rig and the stock intake. I was putting in a new clutch every other weekend lol. It would turn 9.5k rpm with that huge carb and race cam. We rigged up a stutter box launch control. I think the real name is a two step ignition. Hold the clutch in, slam gas to the floor and it would cut the ignition in and out to keep at 5k for a drag launch. Popped and cracked like a top fuel doing that. I had to choke it with a rag to start it hot, the radio wasn't loud enough to overpower the exhaust, and I drove it like a madman. It finally spit it's guts out one night racing, I left a redlight on the stutter box, and when I hit second I saw the oil light. The oil pump locked up and it spit it's guts out somewhere north of 7k lol. Thanks for the memory jog Sent from the backwoods
  25. I just bought one from Dolomite. My first Glock. It's a Gen 3 17 and I love it, except that trigger. It's just to long a stroke on the first round. But i knew it wasn't gonna be a 1911 going in. Other than that it aims well, ran 100 rds through it this morning with no malfunctions. Gonna get a lot of time behind this thing, my handgun skills are sorely lacking. Sent from the backwoods
