Does anybdoy else hear mantain any kinda facial hair? Seems like most guys would rather hack it off then deal with growing, trimming and washing a beard. If you grow anything post up. Heres mine, full beard heading towards a big viking beard. I use bluebeard beard wash to clean it, and a 50/50 mix of beeswax and vaseline to wax it and keep it soft and keep it in place.

I was cleaning my 1851 Navy tonight, and I pulled a good one. I cocked it to half cock with the grips removed and broke the main spring. Crap.... so anyways, is there a good place to get one? Dixie gun works carries them, but they have mixed reviews a lot of them mention it being anywhere from slightly shorter but workable, up to some that don't work at all due to being to short. So should I take the gamble, and buy it from them, or is there somewhere else to order it from?

Peejman its basically a big camp fire cooking fork. We call 'em squirrel forks cause they are perfect for roasting a squirrel on, but they work for turning meat, roasting, etc. That one is 16" from the curve in the handle to the tines. Caster i get what your saying but cant picture them. Can you make a drawing or something and guess at the size of the metal diameter

So me and my old man invited some guys up for a class/hammer in, and we made some stuff for camping and primitive living. Once again, everything is made with hand tools. Everything we made laid out together wall hooks, railroad spike throwing hawk (didn't upset the steel and busted when we drifted the handle hole, got some ideas to improve) squirrel/camp fork, fire steel, railroad spike utility knife Skull pommeled railroad spike utility knife made by sbroomheadsr and broomhead with advice from Dad and me. Wall hooks for hanging any and everything Top by sbroomheadsr, middle one by my dad, and bottom by broomhead Throwing 'Hawk Knife and strike a light steel Squirrel fork

I'm glad you enjoyed the visit, and Dad was extremly happy to share some knowledge and meet some good people. I'm gonna start planning a fall event very soon to give everyone time to plan.

Thank you guys for coming out. I cant believe we split the eye on that hawk, but such is life. Next time we will upset the steel into a 3/4" - 1" egg shape so we have a bigger area to pull the eye from. Im glad you guys had fun, the knife turned out great. That hammer will sure out the blister on until your used to it. Ive done enough I dont blister up anymore but my forearms will be sore from that 4 lb shop hammer on that hawk head lol. We will get together again soon.

I forgot the second pad thing. I use the second pad naturally all the time now, and yes it does help. I have smaller sized hands.

Follow through baby. Slow steady squeeze to the rear, when the shot bteaks keep the trigger pulled and sights on the target, then just as slowly release the trigger till you get the chunk of it resetting. I was a range coach for the USMC in Okinawa, and spent a lot of time working on my trigger control. Once you can do it perfect 100% of the time slow as molasses, start bumping up the speed.

I like that idea dave, but percussion seems so much more reliable for hunting and bad weather
