  1. Don't worry Dolomite, Ill stay on top of the other postions we discussed. Cz ive had on and offs a year, but this was the longest, and the shop I was working in went belly up back in Oct. I spent everyday filling out applacations, dropping off resumes, and doing anything from splitting wood to working on cars off craigslist to make ends meet. The jobs are there, and I refuse to get on welfare and goverment cheese when I'm a young able bodied man capable of work. Its just not how I was raised.
  2. I got on at RGIS, not the greatest but it pays alot more than sitting on my ass. And the hours are very flexible so I can keep pursuing other avenues Id prefer to work in. I had to shave it, I didnt know the employer attitude and we are way past hurting on money. I couldnt risk losing the job for it
  3. Im trying but this super glue isn't working right....
  4. I had a job interview today, and decided to shave my beard. Worst idea ever.... I got the job, but my interviewer had a huge beard lol. So now now for the first time in close to a year Im clean shaven. Me last week Me tonight Take a good long look, this may be the last time for a looonnngggg time.
  5. Got mine today from Dolomite and Sour kraut. I couldn't have asked for a better present and a funnier card. Thank you guys so much. I got a leather blacksmiths bib apron, 3 small files, and a small smooth jaw twisting wrench, which is hard to find, Thank you guys so much, and Merry Christmas.
  6. Yeah Ive been thinking alot about what we talked about a few weeks back when I was at your place. Might go back this coming year if I cant find something before then.
  7. My tacking info says mine was delivered yesterday
  8. We usually go in on fire tower and head out to teapee, horses face, the big nasty hills. Ive seen a lot of 4x4's roll out there, just don't.know that Id take a jeep or something in there as steep as it is in some places without a decent cage
  9. Buddys rail in the coal pits on Caryville Me climbing a small hill Friebd climbing a smaller hill Last group ride when I busted mt trans
  10. I live right in the middle of windrock and grew up riding there and bittercreek, but bittercreek is a no no for anything without a cage. No to mention my trans is busted right now, my idea of a fun trail is probably gonna be to tight and steep. But I keep an eye on this if it ends up in my neck of the woods. This is mine 31x15.50 v treads, 1641 vdub motor on crack with a lot of work, custom chassis, more fun than you can shake a stick at.
  11. This would be great   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JvxnrzB1Jk
  12. I wish..... To bad my welding is limited to arc welding on farm equipment lol. Good luck finding someone, I can't believe someone who is certified isn't all over this in this economy
  13. Leave the porch lights off and a few of these sitting around But really, game camera in an inconspicuous place. Or hide outside, and when they kick yell freeze, and get their names and parents names.
  14. I can understand very well not having time to do anything. What have you been doing with it as a daily knife? Id love to here about normal day to day applications.
  15. Ill have unclejak send them your way
  16. Thats what I strive for. I haven't made a perfect (for me) knife, and might never, but I try.
  17. So how is the testing going?? 18. I asked some questions about a bow for survival use a while back. I was just sitting here today, thinking about how I handmake my blades, and would love to make a long lasting, traditional style bow. Has anyone ever made one? Would anyone be willing to help me out on wood choice, shaping, sting making/selection, arrow making? I'll make my own heads by either knapping or steel heads, but would love to make a few bows. Any help is appreciated.   Jordan
  19. I have two dvd's on hand forging blades. I liked a lot of their info, and disagreed with some of it, but every smith and maker has differences.  I thought I'd offer them up for pass around just to increase the knowledge base here. If your interested post here, and they will be shipped this weekend. The videos I have are   Hoods Woods primitive knife making, lots of good info on making a backwoods simple forge   http://www.survival.com/?page_id=247   Tim Lively knifemaking Unplugged. Good info, not sure he does all the work by hand as he claims, but ya never know, I'll let you draw your own decisions on that.   http://www.amazon.com/Knifemaking-Unplugged-Lively-Marian-Sancinito/dp/B000M5AUOY   They are with Unclejak right now, I'll have him ship them to the first person who post here wanting them, then they will go down the line. Please watch them in a timely manner, and pass them on with in a week or two. Thanks Jordan
  20. I dont think metal will be an issue. I have several rasp, files for knives round and bar mild steel for household stuff etc. I can also bring some leaf springs if anyone wants go home sore and blistered from to much heavy beating.
  21. Dang.... I never liked how cocky he was, but he was a damn good shot, and extremely fast. He will be missed by the shooting world
  22. Just so you guys no, bringing an anvil is not a must, it would just help. Im bringing some big rail, because my old man would die if I hauled the Kholswa across the state.
  23. And now you have two knives, ready for guards, handles, and final grind/sharpening
  24. So after we get it cut to length, in this case 13 3/4", we need to draw out a nice long hidden tang Then you gotta start pushing the tip out into a clip point And after hammering in the bevels, you have this to start you grind work One knife rough ground
  25. Im gonna do this thread so people can see a very small part of what goes into a hand forged knife. I done quiet a bit of work today. Thanks guys Ok so your gonna need a fire, which means you need fuel. Our fuel of choice is coal And your gonna need a forge to build the fire in And your need steel. My steel of choice for these is 1084 bar stock 1.5" x 1/4" 4 ft long So first thing to do is hot cut it using a hardy cutter and hammer
