  1. New years 1999 I made a resolution to never make resolutions again because I don't stick to them anyways.  Haven't made one since.
  2. Sorry for the delay.  I got a duplicate set of medals from here:  http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/   Click on the button that says "submit your request online", then you can fill out the application and on step #3  where it says "comments" put in there that you are requesting a replacement set of medals.  Then you will have a fresh new batch to put in an awards case or something like the others posted a link to.
  3.   Better than the government's suggestion from 2009.  They said we needed to cough into our elbows because we touch everything with our hands... But then immediately showed two people bumping elbows as a greeting instead of shaking hands
  4. If you want, you can get a free new set of ribbons with the medals in the medal cases. I'll send you a link to the info after work today.
  5.   You should've reached out and shook his hand then said "you're welcome" and walked off.
  6.   Yep, I also think that people other than a doctor should be able to provide input on my diagnosis.
  7. Just got back from the movie and it was fantastic, they did a great job of keeping this in line with a docudrama and not much added for cinematic value.  Would put it in the same class as Schindler's List, except without the mass execution part.   P.S. Zamperini was a BMF
  8.   That's not too cool, because people like me that had to learn how to walk again, may still have trouble, it's just after being in so much pain for multiple years you can hide it a bit better.  See me walking into a store and you may see a light limp, but 5 minutes later I may be pushing an empty cart just to have something to make it back to the truck.
  9. Anytime they decommission a unit, ship, post etc... whatever, it always hits home with the people that served there. It's a shame most of us don't realize the historical significance of these things until they're gone. Here's where I was stationed in Germany just 10 years ago. Now it's empty, overgrown and unkept and in the process of being knocked down so they can build something else. It's pretty disheartening seeing everything trashed when you put so much effort into keeping it running. All part of growing old I guess though.
  10.   Yep, just like the record companies that are getting cut out now, so instead of a musician getting $0.25 per song on a cd release, they're getting $0.75 per song every time it's downloaded.   I did watch the movie today, it was the expected crude college humor kinda movie.  Really good if you liked tropic thunder or pineapple express.  But as you said Vontar, I'd much rather pay a few dollars and watch it at home rather than spend $13/ticket, $10/gas, $10/junk food.
  11. But this guy is one of the two   http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c40_1419253813
  12.   Ah.. the purple unicorn a la carte of cable, how sweet it would be to only be able to flip through Discovery, History, HBO & Showtime and not even have another channel show up on the TV... of course at 10% of the cost we pay now.
  13. If someone is shooting at me while I'm in a truck, I'm just going to press the damn gas pedal
  14. sign this, pass it around   https://www.change.org/p/sony-release-the-movie-the-interview-sony
  15.   A lot of IT people use them because they don't want to spend their off-time fixing their own computer.
  16. Well played sir!
  17. viola 'pichers'
  18. yeah audible is just an audio book file
  19.   I would've never caught it if you didn't say anything
  20. Got my gift in today, whoever it was must be semi-psychic... We needed some extra mags for my wife's AR and viola they showed up unexpectedly today along with a new SOG knife. Thanks whoever you were!
  21. Have never heard of this battle before, American, French and German troops fought alongside each other to defend an Austrian castle from the SS a few days after Hitler's suicide.   http://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/wwiis-strangest-battle-americans-germans-fought-together.html   Pretty interesting
  22. Yeah seen that stuff before too because you would have wannabe-super hard core company level people that thought making everyone work instead would make them look good.
  23.   It's been common practice for decades for the government to do things like that.  When I was in the Army B. Clinton loved to give us off the day between a weekend and a holiday, then our unit would sometimes give us an extra 1/2 to 1 day off before that so we ended up getting a 4-5 day weekend.
  24. At least we got to see how he was assassinated:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pna3cX0uBjA
  25. Exactly Dave, there aren't that many attacks because they do like to hide deep in the woods and the population is limited.  I look at situations like this as with work... The likelihood of the threat is minimal, however the magnitude of impact is off the freaking charts.  That's why I have zero problems looking at it laying on the back of a truck.
