You don't have to go to court to do traffic school and having the ticket/points put on the shelf for a probationary period. They just want their money, just got to their website to pay the ticket or call them and they will give you instructions on how to do the online trainings. My wife was an expert at this process.

Think or hope I'm misreading this; did she actually work for bcbs?

It's not taxable now. If there were no plans to tax it in the future, there would be no reason to track it in the first place.

Mine did not. Was up doing school work for 12 hours yesterday, started work at 11pm and didn't get finished until almost 3am on the new time let the dog out at 2am so I could sleep in. and WTF happens at 5:30am every morning? The dog. The dog happens at 5:30am, her clock self-adjusted.

What's really sad is that he was offered scholarships to schools for disassembling a production clock, lying about how he built it and the schools not being smart enough to recognize that.

Not sure on Gordon's insurance experience (think most of his was covered via employer due to OTJ injury), but outside of him I would say I'm the resident expert on medical billing around here from the patient side of things (pushing upwards of $850,000 worth of procedures now since 2011) Before this stuff kicked off, I had multiple $30k+ cardiac surgeries (EP studies/ablations) done at Vandy. Total out of pocket cost which included the surgeon, the surgery room and a one night stay at the hilton hospital and all the meds/supplies, was $375 each visit. Last year they implanted a small loop recorder right under the skin in my chest, about the size of a triple A battery and they didn't even knock me out for it. Just pulled me into a regular patient room, shot me up with some of that twilight med that only worked for about 20 minutes, popped it in and I was out of there in 60 minutes. A month later I get a bill for nearly $2,000. Thinking it was a mistake I had them audit it, nope it was no mistake. Obamacared so much about me that the changes required me to pay 50% of the cost of that implant device. That is more than my total hip replacement, two cardiac surgeries, removal of two plates in my forearm, one plate in my wrist, and the removal of a rod from my femur, replacing that with a plate, a bone graft and replacing the hinge in my hip (few years before the total replacement) COMBINED. Now I'm getting close to the point where the doc is considering doing the knee replacement and it's the first time I've contemplated getting something done until it's absolutely necessary. Can't wait to see what kind of hurt that is going to put on me.

Ted Cruz is the answer.

Premiums going up? Heck Fox News this morning had a statistic that health care plan annual deductibles average for everyone in the country have went up more than 80% since Obamacare was implemented. So now do you not only get to pay quadruple for your insurance premiums, your annual deductibles are almost at the point of being doubled as well.

Pretty much, I have to work tonight because of it. You would think by the year 2015 that system architects would construct their devices to acknowledge a time change, but apparently Homer Simpson is still the lead engineer at some of those companies.

Thought the same thing years back, & can't remember if someone here mentioned it or where the info came from, but their employees work on a profit-sharing model. That's why they move so fast. Their employees will never slow down. Hell, about 2 years ago I was at the store near old hickory and nolensville rd. The guy at the counter had a bunch of scars on this hand and we started comparing scars/war stories, he said he worked late one night, got in an accident on the way home & was messed up pretty bad. The president of the company found out about it and flew a top notch hand surgeon out to the guy and assist with the surgery while he was in the hospital. What says more about them, is that they don't go around bragging about that kind of thing, if the employee didn't tell people, very few would ever know. Sounds like they really invest in their employees.

What are TGOers putting on their Christmas list this year?

Well, they can fit 13 into a compact. Think I'll stick with something smaller. -
What are TGOers putting on their Christmas list this year?
Sam1 replied to Spots's topic in General Chat
Got to thinking about this... since I'm on my own this year, no gifts for me. Gonna spend some of that saved $ and buy stuffed animals (or maybe some cheap gifts) and give them out around Christmas time when we walk over to the Vandy children's hospital for lunches. There's always some families in there with the kids from an appointment that look like they could use some excitement. -

Am a discount tire fanboy. Every set of tires now come from there. If you guy a lot of tires, get their store credit card, they have a lot of specials where they give an extra $60 or $70 in rebates just for using it. You can also bargain with them, do some searching on tirerack.com (usually the cheapest price per tire - not counting shipping and install etc). Tell the people at discount tire you'll by the road hazard warranty if they price match tirerack's base tire price, they usually will and you'll end up getting an additional discount + whatever rebates they have going on through the manufacturers + the store card rebates. There was another thread from the labor day sale where I mentioned I got a set of 4wd truck tires for right at $600, then got $135 in prepaid credit cards as part of a double rebate thing. $465 total cost in the end. Great store to work with, and all of the locations seem to be willing to work the same kind of deals with you.

+1 to Gordon for offering help. If you all know any vets around Nashville that gets to the point you/they need professional help, I work at the hospital and will donate any amount of personal time it takes to help you/them navigate the system or get in touch with someone that can help. 615-266-3030 Don't think of it as infringing, the best part of my day is going between offices and helping out a fellow vet get somewhere or just talk to them for a few minutes if they look like they need help with something. And if any of you all are up there for an appointment, give me a ring, am always up for having lunch with people.

Never know what is going on in someone's head, but for any of those of us who have been deployed to hot zones, you know your life is never the same after. Even if you never get shot at or shoot at someone, you still worry about it 24/7 without break. Go to sleep not knowing if a mortar round is coming into your building while you sleep and wake up not knowing if a suicide bomber is going to hit the gate you're pulling guard on. Walking to get lunch on base, not knowing if some random sniper fire is coming in, or when you're out on patrol going through houses and there's a guy with a scatter gun standing on the other side waiting. As I've always said, suicide is for quitters but don't take that the wrong way, I'd rather see $500,000 in tax money spent getting a vet help so they don't reach that stage than to just let them off themselves. It's hard to adjust from the life of active military to the civilian world, especially when you go in young to a combat arms MOS and then you get dumped into the civilian world with not skills other than being a good janitor. Going from operating a $3,000,000 tank, blowing stuff up, living eating breathing 16-20 hours a day for years and then ending back at some retail store to be a mid-level manager is a shock to the system that is immeasurable. Although I'm not a psychiatrist or read a single study in why these happen, I believe that the military should REQUIRE soldiers to learn a civilian trade while they are in, either via college or a trade school, so they have a skill they are familiar with and useful when they get out. That won't eliminate every incident, but I think it would result in a serious reduction. I'd be interested to see the correlational data between this and MOS, and comparison between commissioned percentages (usually already have college/trade to go into after) and enlisted members with no college or trade.

What kind of airflow do you actually need with that one? Mine is only 5cfm, but would love to switch to not have to pump 100 times on the manual one.

Recommend a good place for BBQ and a place for burgers in Nashville
Sam1 replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
Jack's BBQ, stuff there is fantastic. http://jacksbarbque.com/ -
I knew that was the case, but had no idea it could occur that fast. I always went with a 4-5 year change, thanks for the tip.

+1 on this, some of the higher end dell monitors have outstanding quality. However, I usually go with a cheaper brand because, well, they're cheaper. Right now I'm running dual Planar 24's because they were only $129, they have HDMI connections and are 300cd/m2. That's about as bright as you can get for a decent price.
