  1.   Yeah a few days ago we got notice at work.  It was only a matter of time, those guys are making billions on it worldwide.  That's why I finally put Eset on the Mac.   As long as you have a good backup strategy, that ransomware is 100% irrelevant anyways.  But people think that copying files over to a hard drive occasionally is sufficient; it is not. I put Eset on it just so I don't have to worry about a wipe & reload.
  2. surface pro is no bueno.  I actually went to purchase a surface book and ended up coming home with a lenovo yoga 3 pro.  Blows them out of the water in every aspect for general computing... and cheaper.   Around 15 seconds from powered off to completely up and running, and it's never glitched one time.  Battery is only about 8 hours or so, but that's pretty reasonable.
  3. Let me preface this by saying I am a Mac person.   The $250 computer vs. a mac is a joke, but there are viable options out there that provide features that Apple will never give because they want you to buy a laptop and a tablet, instead of having an AIO solution. It would cost over $1500 to have the same functionality with Mac products as this Lenovo does with similar specs.
  4.   Welcome to the light.  When I hit the dirt there will be no regrets, and nothing left but good memories and a worn out body.
  5.   You can install software that will make it look like windows 7, it's not a big deal.  I personally like windows 10 after a bit of use, but human nature is to resist change so it takes a bit to get over it.  Anyways if you want windows 7 faux, here you go:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEblJ1UBQF0
  6.   Yeah, I was late to the bandwagon on that stuff... But it's all I buy now
  7. Don't sell it for parts, sell it as a working phone.  Craigslist would be best because there's no buyer's remorse.  If not, list it on ebay and be honest because people will freak out and accuse you of trying to scam them if you don't mention it and they see the detector strip turned.   and as the others have said, next time it happens, power it off and stick it in rice for a few days.  Unless there was an actual short that occurred, it should fix the issue.
  8.   made up for it with Gran Torino
  9.   and #2 and #3   That movie was made corny on purpose, those I can handle.
  10.     Looks like a pharmaceutical advertisement for ADHD medicine, holy crap!
  11. That is by far [not]  the worst movie ever.  Have you ever seen Human Centipede?  If not, don't go looking for it.
  12. Here's one of the best chase videos around:     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmNXCJt7K3Q
  13. The onboard cams of those new bikes in HD will scare the piss out of you if you're a rider.  I understand completely why a lot of pro teams won't let their riders get out there, if there was a measurement of insane, TT is off the charts.
  14.     That's what I was thinking too, gotta get some overtime/hazard pay baby!
  15.   Depends, are we talking about a Glock or a different brand?
  16.   There's nothing remotely close to it.  as said above, it's one of the few races that hasn't been severely nerfed yet.

  18. After watching the first one on TV years ago, I came to the conclusion those guys have the largest testicles on the planet.   Nothing has changed that hypothesis in over 20 years.
  19. Pretty soon or in October. Not in the heat. Even in October, you literally have to soak the heck out of it, or it will die while the roots grow out. I watered my area for at least an hour, 2 times a day, for 2 weeks after saturating it the first two days.
  20.   Sod.  Forget growing from scratch.  After last year when I bought sod and laid that down (think it ended up roughly 600+/- sq/ft), I would not plant grass again unless it's a massive amount of ground.  It cost about as much as it would to grow good grass, it's not going to have any dead spots and you don't have to waste 6 weeks waiting to see if it even grows.   It was also a fescue mix, so it grows good and stays green all year.

  22. Just file a complaint with ebay, they work with paypal and will refund your money.  Make sure you file the complaint before the time limit expires though, you only have a certain period in which to file.   They will review the messages between the seller and yourself (why it's important to use their messaging system instead of personal email) and go from that.  Not really a big deal.  I've had to do it a few times over maybe 12-13 years and never had an issue.
  23. It's done wonders for Monica Lewenski
  24. Let's play the assumption game.   somebody took a work toy home with them and wasn't supposed to.  otherwise they would be blasting out every detail about the gun they could possibly share.
  25.   crashplan, it defaults to save your my documents (pics, videos, documents, music) automatically when it installs.  You can change it from there.    whatever you do, Do NOT use idrive.  I switched from crashplan to them about 6 months ago to save a few dollars and their software was uploading entire copies of my computer over and over.  According to the usage on comcast's site, I went from using roughly 30-40gb/month to over 250gb/month after installing their software.  Promptly removed it and went back to crashplan, will not be switching again.
