Gift of toy guns at school leads to policy changes
Sam1 replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Could you clarify that progression a little bit? I'm lost how they can go from a BB gun to mass murderer without having an AK and Glock -
Gift of toy guns at school leads to policy changes

Did a little bit of research and this Twitty woman is a retired substitute teacher, and she says that because she thinks the gun looks real that it would've create chaos.
“This gun looks very real to me,†Twitty said. “What if they pulled it out on the bus? The chaos that could ensue is terrifying.â€
I would be willing to bet that not a single person on this board is surprised about what she said, now knowing she was a teacher. -
Mother wants debt inherited from dead son's loans forgiven.
The saddest part about this whole thing is that she got 200,000 signatures asking for the debt to be forgiven. Of course with the state of things now I guess that shouldn't surprise me. Where do these people think this money comes from?
If each one of those people donated 5 cents, she would have the $10,000 to pay off the loan. Stuff pisses me off that people will go out of their way to spend everyone's money but their own -

The purpose of a cosigner is for someone to be held accountable if the person getting the loan is unable to pay. Bad situation, but this is the reason places require cosigners, if they dished out $50,000 for him to attend school and the loan company was not relieved of the debt, then they should not be expected to eat the loss. -
Used to be into them pretty big 15 years ago or so, built a buggy with a carbon fiber frame (when it was just coming out, cost almost $600), and I was playing with it in a parking lot and ran into a curb at full speed. Did about $800 worth of damage, sold all my stuff that weekend and said I would never touch another one.

we have had zero issues, it's not even brought up in the leases. - I would highly suggest getting an alarm system to install though, we use one from simplisafe.com it's completely wireless, have plenty of glass break sensors, motion sensors and door sensors. If the power goes out, the alarm actually has a battery and cellphone built in so it can operate for days without power. The only thing I'm cautious of is when I use an air compressor in the garage to blow out some of the carbon, I make sure the door is closed so no one can see in.

That's a great solution, because a lot of times people have knives that aren't worth $10 that used to belong to their grandpa, and have an unmeasurable sentimental value.
You should insist that the complex management make to towing phone call. It's their rule to enforce and keeps you out of the line of fire from your neighbor. The beef should remain between them and the management. Not you.
Problem is that they're not going to be in the office at 5am when I go in to work lol
I was in Columbus,GA this morning and had to stop and get gas on my way in to my appointment. In my work I am often in the Industrial side of town and there was a line out the door of the gas station of locals buying tickets for this thing. If I drop 10 bucks on a ticket here or there I don't really miss it. These people were literally in line praying to hit this thing and I know 10 bucks means a lot more to them. You just don't see that on the nicer sides of town.
The reason you don't see that on the nicer side of town is because those people got there spending their money wisely, not depending on the lotto for as their retirement fund.

Spoke with the management here and they said to just have it towed because they tell everyone when they move in not to block the garages.
i have heard of such issues....money does strange things to people
Not strange, it's peoples' greed and a sense of expectation. After watching a few episodes of that show about how the lottery ruined my life (or whatever it's titled), I wouldn't tell a soul I won from anywhere around. I would just grab the important stuff like the wife, the guns and laptop and move far, far away. Probably change our names in the process as well. If I knew anyone that won, I wouldn't call them or try to contact them in any way just out of respect because they will be fighting off vampires and scumbags so much, that they'll probably just start assuming anyone that comes around at all wants something.
Powerball/lotto is a tax on the mathematically challenged.
Yep and the great one is that guy that is on the tv shows that won the lottery 7 times (but never seems to win a big one) is on all the shows telling people not to buy a quick pick, and the last time it was up to 400~ million, he said the same thing, and all of the jackpot winners bought quick picks. There's no science behind it, you have the same statistical probability to win with any set of numbers you can select... But people buy into the hype, or he wouldn't reappear on the news every time the jackpot gets big.

Mine going out this afternoon (if I can get through the traffic in time)

ok thanks, will discuss it with them first - and will also get in touch with the local towing company to see if they need any documentation first so we don't have to search for it at 5am lol

It is an apartment complex, we ran it by management a few months ago because of a similar issue with multiple different people blocking one of our other garages. I really don't mind to leave a note once because we come in so late and leave so early, most of them have probably never seen anyone there and they think it's vacant. But 3 times with the same vehicle has passed my tolerance level.
-
Have some neighbors that for whatever reason think that they own the parking lot and feel the need to block one of our garages. Hate to trouble the police with a menial matter like that, so are we allowed to start having their vehicles towed off when we can't get our car out? Or do there have to be no parking signs posted before going that route? We were nice enough to leave two polite notes on their windshield, but they don't seem to care and I'm not giving them chance #3.

Sympathy would be given if he was stealing a loaf of bread to feed his children, but this was not the case.
Records show Calloway was in and out of jail at least 16 times since 1996.
-

Thanks to the hefty regulations, the law was obeyed and two people at a funeral were NOT shot in Chicago http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-11-26/news/chi-2-shot-on-south-side-possibly-at-funeral-20121126_1_homicide-victims-gang-member-fewer-homicides /sarcasm

One of the few times I wish I was a cop would be to write those jerks tickets and people in the left lane not using it for passing.
I remember many times reading about the Mexican Army 'accidentally' crossed our border and we just turned them around and sent them home.
I remember when drug smugglers were illegally entering the country carrying over 700 pounds worth of pot and when the officers took offensive action, they ended up in jail and the smugglers got a freebie and continued to smuggle drugs for years afterwards until they were caught again.
