  The bill itself specifically states "qualified law enforcement officer" then goes on to specify employed by any agency of the government yada yada yada. The wording exempts active and retired law enforcement if they purchased/acquired the weapon before they retire - they can keep it. I did not see anything on exempting government officials in general (and did read through the entire thing last night), but the bill as with most, is easy to overlook some verbiage here or there.   To add in, I would recommend taking 20 minutes and reading through the bill before going off of hearsay from anyone. Even if you don't understand the application or intent, at least you have the general knowledge of its vocabulary.

    Hopefully the Akin's will stay the eff away in 2014 and the impact can be reduced.

  It looks like most of the cosponsors are in the north east, maybe they should just work on a regional bill, then install massive gun scanners at the border before driving into one of those states

Not good, I think smoking is a nasty habit but that also it's not going to give me asthma by being in a smokey bar for an hour or two. The problem is as with everything; next on the list will be people that are overweight have to pay a penalty, then what about the people that drink those evil coke and pepsi's. Cause when the costs keep going up and they can't figure out it was just a bad plan from the get go, they'll have to find something else to blame.

Got word in Knoxville that the mayor was riding in a salt truck and it ran off the road, and also that a trooper ran off the road, had a heart attack and that the rescue/fire truck came out, slid off the road and on top of the cruiser.   Anyone confirm this? Going to reserve comments until we know exactly what's going on

We need to start getting rallied together like the far left does and share out the contact info immediately when businesses start doing this we don't like. It's going to take a massive campaign of people being proactive and not relying on 2af, nra and goa to do all the communications/legislative battles.

Personally I was just hoping for a meet & greet and to shoot the breeze for a while and by restricting the attendees, it makes it a bit less desirable in general.

Yep Glock, I wanted to do the same thing for everyone supporting or against the 2a, but people here were saying that it may make them a target. It's looking more and more like it will turn into another situation where we sit by the sidelines cause we're afraid to "offend" someone, and we're going to watch this crumble right in front of us as well.   That sports show that had to close the doors is EXACTLY why we need to quit doing business with anti-2a places. There's no reason to hide our opinions because we keep getting the other people's crammed down our throats. We really need to start acting on these things and put a dent in the pocketbook, as well as sending emails and making phone calls to the companies that are supporting us.

One thing that aggravates the living piss out of me is how the religious organizations (especially catholics) are endorsing this bill, when she stated she didn't care about their beliefs and that they should be forced to offer contraceptives.   I guess our our memory now only goes 140 characters backwards now as well.

By the way guys/gals, this is ONLY the specifically named firearms. She is still to include the criteria that classify rifles as "AW's", and all "AW's" will be banned.   So these are just in addition to, not the be all end all from what I understand.
