You're not going to add 100hp to a 13 year old drivetrain reliably without spending that $6k-10k. There's a lot of things that go into this, just one of the many: cast pistons melt, crack and break randomly under boost, one reason is because of the enormous amount of heat caused by boosting an engine. If you stay around the magic 8# level (which is a complete farce of being a standard safe level for an n/a motor), you're looking at adding about 75% atmospheric pressure into the cylinder before the explosion even happens. The compression levels on that engine look to be a 9:1 which isn't too bad to boost, but it's a 2 valve which is going to cause you issues unless you do a port job and get a blower cam. On top of that, now you've got to concern yourself with breaking a ring landing (which happens all the time on cast pistons) then possibly blowing out seals and contaminating the oil if you do not have a really good vent system. That's just a small iota of the things to be considered, there are entire series of books written about the things that need to be done, and most of them start with a fresh build of the motor if the car is not fairly new. I did look up that model though and it looks like they had an optional motor upgrade to a 5.4 which was an extra 40hp & 55tq. Bolt ons or a swap like that is all that will be reasonable, I couldn't tell you the number of people that have wanted to start some big project like that and a year + few thousand into it they just gave up. Have to consider the fact that if it was that easy and cheap, everyone you know would have one on their vehicle.

wow there's even a guy in a nice suit stealing stuff. Hopefully with this good video, after they get the bomb thing sorted out, they bust every last one of them.

We've been recording history for so long now that a ton of stuff has happened on every day of the year

You know, that would probably be about the same cost, maybe a wee bit more (not sure on the specific conversion requirements) but it would definitely be one hell of a lot more reliable than his current set up with a blower on top.

Too many variables to even begin to guess the detonation systems. Hell, the CT shooting was a 1 guy thing and we were all running around screaming about inconsistencies 2 weeks after... This involves literally thousands of people in a public place, it is going to be a nightmare to sort through for everyone so I'm gonna stick with a quick daily update and steer clear of the minute by minute updates this time.

That was an inkling in the back of my head too, but am going to reserve judgement just yet. The one by the flags almost looked like a propane tank. Very clean looking explosion, couldn't say anything on the bigger one.

You're going to spend more money on doing forced injection (either turbo or blower) than you would if you sold the truck and bought one that better fit your needs. here's an example of what I paid on my cobalt ss (and it came form the factory supercharged already). Upgraded to TVS 1320 blower, injectors, tune, exhaust, intake, clutch, extra gauges, additional cooling mods (not counting incidentals required) cost over $5000 Upgraded to GT3076 turbo, new exhaust (manifold, downpipe and dump - used the same catback), FMIC, piping, pulley modifications, reversed alternator, new intake, tune cost over $4000 Have to remember that this engine was already set up for forced induction from the factory, when you try to blow into an n/a car, your costs are going to be much higher and need many more parts to get it going. On top of that, you'll lose a lot of reliability even with lower psi levels. Also if you have an automatic trans, you can get into a mess with that without a lot of work if you're going over the rated levels. So now you're looking at probably an honest $5000 +/- $2-3k after all is said and done to get an extra 100-200hp and make your vehicle less reliable. IMHO, I would sell it and buy a diesel if you need something for towing for more reasons than just the cost savings.

They should have their licenses yanked for profiting from diagnosing patients with certain issues, don't they do that to surgeons? -
NSA Constructing A BIG Secret Data Center in Utah
Sam1 replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Exactly, NSA actually does stuff & they have better things to do with a $400,000,000 super computer than to see what coupons I use at Kroger on a regular basis. -
Totally against what ol Bobby sent me in an e-mail

Corker said on his FB page that he just voted to get it to a vote, but he would join a filibuster to stop any legislation being voted on. I think these guys just wanted the dems to submit a bill, so they could get fodder for later and they still plan on filibustering anyways. Rand Paul would not have just pulled back his threat of it for no reason. -

They need a bigger one. We're behind the power curve on cyberwarfare against other countries and we need to get with the game asap. -
all that dancing around can be stopped easily by placing a 5mm hole in their chest 350 yards before they get with hand striking difference

It's out, I just haven't had a chance to sit down and decipher it yet.. was curious if anyone has and knows the cliff's note version. if not, here's the bill http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/11/manchin-toomey-background-checks-bill_n_3065100.html?icid=hp_politics_top_art

So 14 people being stabbed is not a problem, but 26 people shot is reason to change 400,000,000 people's rights?
-
Your yearly bill runs out to about $900 +$1000 worth of gear to purchase, that's not much savings lol

They don't need to ban knives because it will unfairly impact chefs. They just need to ban high-capacity, reusable assault knives.

Why do we not use some laser from a satellite to blow the missile up on the launching pads?

If sex trafficking is an issue, why don't they just create more legislation to regulate it? That seems to be the argument with guns.
-
Once it becomes a viable option, it will simply be regulated out of existence. Have money tied up in it, and who knows, at this point the man will probably just confiscate it.

for the mattress people, we have a question... Usually buy cheap mattresses but 2 years back we bought an expensive memory foam, think it's a sealy. This darn thing got a dip in the middle of it just like our cheap ones did, even if we flipped the old ones, and rotated the memory foam (can't flip it). We thought about buying a sleep number or other adjustable one for the new house this month, but Glenn's issue is not one we want to deal with either. I guess it's cause I have a big butt or something, cause my wife and I together weigh about 300 pounds and barely sleep maybe 6 hours per day at most. Does anyone know of a good mattress that is resistant to getting that dip in the middle? Don't think anyone with a warranty actually covers that. At this point in time we don't really care how much it costs cause we can't afford to keep buying these $700 mattresses every few years, we want it to last a long time.
