Ok...I need some suggestions on a do it all type shotgun. Things I would like to be able to do. -Shoot slugs with accuracy to 75 yards for deer or larger game -Shoot a fairly tight pattern with #4 lead or steel shot -I would also use this gun for coyotes as well -Shoot some skeet occasionally or possibly bird hunt and this is the least important. I have a current home defense shotgun. It is a Winchester Defender 1300 and I have found a 22" slug barrel for it ($159). It has rifle sights and a winchoke to pull the patterns in a bit. That may be my best option, but I wondered if anyone else was in the same predicament or had experience with a do it all or one gun scenario. Thanks.

I am waiting for P91X to come out because it will be better than the old version.

The biggest thing in my opinion is to hand pick your AK or build it yourself. You will be able to check the mag wobble (use several mags) and check the sights to make sure you dont have a problem with the sight placement or gas block being canted. Check out the trigger group spacing and the make of the parts. I would not hesitate to buy a century or wasr as long as I could pick it out. Believe it or not an underfolder stock is more comfortable to me than a traditional stock. If you have the ability to shoot a few then make your decision that is the best way to go. AK's just plain work and to me it does not make a bit of difference the make or model. It is your preference.

I thought there was a five round limitation on rifle's? I guess I learn something every day. Out comes the 75 round drum!!!

Cant use the 30 round magazine!

I have a model 637 and my only complaint is the clear coat finish started to wear off after about a year of every day carry. I think it is fairly common for the 642/637 series of smiths. That being said, I took the opportunity to bead blast the frame and bob the hammer a bit. It sees more carry duty than any other pistol I own.

You may in fact want sand on some types of metals such as aluminum. Glass beads will polish the surface instead of of giving the type of surface that is required for the proper adhesion of paint or finish materials. If you have a compressor you can pick up a small gravity feed gun that you can refinish small items with. Norther Tool sells a small hand held pressurized unit that is about $40 that would work well also. If you do not have a compressor then I would just source out someone to do it for you.

Do it.......I bought a RIA Compact Tactical last month and have been putting it through the paces and have had zero problems or complaints. It is an excellent budget 1911 that I am not afraid to use. Bellshire Hardware has them in stock for an excellent price if you are in the Nashville area.

I have had one about a month and so far about two hundred flawless rounds. The officers size 7 round magazines will work fine. Wilson Tactical magazines are top of the line, but a little costly. I found some locally for $33.00.

The plan is 500 rounds of mixed FMJ, then some JHP's after that. I will try to keep this thread alive with updates.

Update: Another 100 flawless rounds of mixed ball ammo with no malfunctions. I also tried a few new mags including kimber, wilson tactical, and factory. All officer size 7 rounders. The slide did not lock back on two occasions with the kimber mags? No problems otherwise.

Search google for bat house plans and you will find a plethora of information. I would try to keep them on the property if possible. They are beneficial and many would love to have them.

Almost any straight drop IWB will work for appendix carry. I usually make my own from kydex and pull the dot loops, but I like High Noon Holsters for something that is inexpensive to try and see if you like it.

Hard to say because its only worth what someone will pay or trade for it. I would post it up and see what kind of offers you get for trades. I would say anything in the average retail of $350 -450. You could come up with a list of pistols you would like to have and see where that leads you?

I know its summer but spring is in the air........or is it eye.

I think you right on.

Both of these pistols make excellent beginner or budget firearms. I like them for what its worth. Is the sigma the sw9ve version....if so $300 obo Is the Bersa Thunder the CC version or two tone .380?....$250 - $300

Update: On Target in Murfreesboro has a couple on the shelves @ $439.00 ea.

M&P40c and slim 1911's

I inherited one in a fist generation sigma 9mm and experienced failure to feed and failure to eject on a regular basis so I purchased a stock guide rod and spring and it has been 100% since then. I sold the lasermax unit after that because I felt it was not reliable. In retrospect I am not sure if it could have been the recoil spring that was with the lasermax guide rod or something else but I will never know.

Wilsons are the top of the line but I have a hard time paying that premium price. Should be 7 rounds in a compact or officers size magazine. Kimber makes some mags that are convertible with metal base plate and two sizes bumpers that fit well in the RIA compact but I have not had the time to test them yet. They are 1/2 the cost of the wilson's and were available locally. BTW......on target has wilson's in stock for the officer size 1911 or compact RIA.
