So... I have a buddy that hooked me up with a pretty sweet Remington woodsman model 742 in 30-06 that was made in 1956.(first year of production according to teh internets) Came with the original scope still in the plastic, two mags, sling, and looks like its hardly been shot at all! I'm pretty excited because I'm a gun dork, but am interested to hear any opinions... From what I can find online, I got a pretty damn good deal. Anyone have any experience with these dudes? I had some pretty clueless people in my carry class... One guy took his practical with a MONSTER 1911 and was shaking like a dog poopin peach pits. I thankfully was in the third group that only consisted of two other people. (One of which was a cute lady. . ) Some of them made nervous that they would be able to have a loaded firearm in public. It's a Russian one. Out of all my guns, it's one of my absolute favorites to shoot!

And yeah, I heard that. But the last seven times I've been in they've been out. Lol. But I LOVE this gun! I have a five seven, glock 17, and a Beretta 9mm and the mak is my favorite to shoot for some reason. Kind of the mouse nugget of pistols I think.

If going to every gun store in my area (including academy and dicks) is doing something wrong, perhaps you would care to enlighten me how to do it right? Kind of the point of my WHOLE THREAD. Troll harder...

cool, thanks for the replies. I think maybe I'm just not finding a good source for cheap 9x18 ammo. its ben a little on the pricey side everywhere I've gotten it so far. but what y'all are saying makes sense... I believe I'll stick with the original barrel and quit over thinking it.

I do. and I have to say, I've been really impressed with the little dude. I was a little shocked at how well I shot with it to be honest... And aside from the ammo being a little pricey and scarce, I can't really find much fault. that being said, anyone tried any of the .380 conversion barrels for it? I found one online for 75$ and another for 39$. just wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

Well... I got it! I picked up a OD Green with ALL the goodies and a Blackhawk paddle holster for $900.00. Everyone I've spoken to said I might as well have worn a ski mask to get it. (implying I stole it. haha, how witty) That being said, I have to say that I REALLY love this gun. Ammo is scarce, and the damn thing puts off a foot and a half fireball when you fire it, but DAMN! Accurate, loud, and lighter than a nerf gun! And those bullets are pretty wicked. Anyway, I appreciate all of the awesome feedback! I have to say, this forum is my new favorite place to completely give in to total firearm addiction. <--- unrelated. but still pretty damn funny. Kool-Aid man FTW! lol

I want one REAL bad... I know they're pricey, but MAN they seem pretty bad ass! Anyone have one, have any feedback on them?

Yeah, and the ammo is REALLY hard to find! Speaking of which, anyone know where to find ionic dark matter for a reasonable price?
