  1. I agree with the 12-7 or 12-8 idea. I will let them see this thread. Maybe it will be enough to make them reconsider their hours. Any further input will also be passed along. Thanks TGO community.
  2. That is one thing that they are currently reconsidering. I think right now is because its just the owner and his wife running it. She doesn't have a regular job due to her recent bout with cancer. Luckily she is currently in remission. He has a regular full time job. I just think its hard for them right now. I have talked to him at length about maybe cutting hours during the week if need be just to be open longer on the weekends. Actually, the shop was open for a few hours this past Sunday. I think the hours will be changing. I hope so anyway.
  3. I put up the post yesterday about the new gun shop in Murfreesboro. Shortly after I did that it was taken down. I apologize if I crossed the line or offended anyone. I am in no way affiliated with that store. I do not work there. I did not invest in it. I am merely friends with the owners and was trying to get the word out about the shop. It was not meant to be an advertisement. I looked and looked for about a half hour to see if there was some place I could make that post or if I was breaking any forum rules. I even asked for advice in the chat room. I also looked in the store where I purchased my benefactor membership to see if there was somewhere my friends could purchase some type of vendor status (they still want to do that if possible.) I couldn't find anything, so I made the post. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. I only wanted to help my friends out with their store and let TGO members know there was a new place in Murfreesboro to buy a gun.
  4. Oo an M1A? What model? I have a Colt Sporter I'm taking up there with me to unload.
  5. Removed
  6. Here are pictures of the Armalite. I picked it up yesterday. It's in even better condition than I had expected, especially for a rifle purchased new in 1995. As of right now, I think I'm going to keep this one and sell the Colt after I pick it up on Friday.
  7. Well, the Armalite is being transferred from a private seller from one of the big gun auction sites. The Colt was found at a pawn shop. I have done a bit of buying there in the past because they always make me a great deal. I will give you guys the name of the pawn shop if you like. It's Murfreesboro Pawn and Gun. Talk to Jay. He's a great guy that loves to make great deals.
  8. I went out to do a little research on these and I am surprised at how little my local shops know about them. In fact, I went to 4 different shops and not one of them had even heard of this caliber. They all seemed interested when I told them about it and they all went to the computer and looked it up immediately. That being said, I think I'm going to the shop in Nashville that I found that actually has this gun in stock so I can take a look at one in person. I may end up picking one up.
  9. Yeah, I know. That's why I am grabbing them both. One is on layaway at a local shop (until payday) and the other is in the transfer process as we speak. I'll have them both by next Friday. Thanks for the help TGO. I'll let you guys know which one I decide to keep and which one I'm letting go. I'll list one in the classifieds in the coming days unless I just completely fall in love with both of them.
  10. Ok. Sounds good. I guess I really am getting a good deal since the price I can get both of them is considerably less than $1700. The good news for you guys is one of them will more than likely end up for sale on here. Anything else I should take into consideration before I pull the trigger?
  11. Well, before I decide for sure to get both, what would be a reasonable price for both rifles? I mean what would be considered a good deal for these 2 guns? I'm not talking about stealing them, just curious what they are going for. I've looked at all the auction sites and I can see what people are ASKING for them, I just don't know what people are PAYING for them. I just want to make sure my idea of a good price is the same as everyone else's. Armalite M15A2 .223/5.56 caliber rifle with 20" 1/9 barrel. No bayonet lug. It is used and has around 2000 rounds fired through it. Originally purchased the rifle in 1995 and used it in high power rifle shoots for about a 1 year, after that it has been in gun safe and has not been shot except for a handful of times. Used Colt Sporter Target 5.56/.223 (6551). Also no bayonet lug, 20" 1/7 barrel. Both have fixed stock, fixed carry handle, full length handguards and are in about 95% condition. I know it's hard to say without actually seeing both rifles, but if I can be assured I am getting a good deal, I may just grab them both.
  12. Thanks for the input. I think they are both preban guns. The Armalite was originally purchased in 1995 so, I cant be 100% sure on it. Also, they both have 20" barrels. Maybe I should just buy both of them. I can get them both for what many AR's cost new. Any thoughts? My father and I collect military rifles. I know this isn't an M16 by any stretch, but I wanted one close to the original configuration for our modest little collection. I like the nostalgic value of the A2 more than anything. I'm sure I will buy another one at some point to trick out with all the tactical stuff, but for now, I just want the A2 model.
  13. I am torn between 2 AR's. I have been looking forever, it seems, for an A2 model AR. Well, finally, I found one at what I consider a really great price, It's a pre-ban Armalite M15A2. It's in really great condition with a low round count. So, of course, I get excited and start looking at a few accessories while I am mulling it over before I make the purchase. I went into a different local shop that has some AR goodies and what do I find? Yep. A Colt Sporter Target model (6551) rifle. Turns out it's only about $100 more and in the same condition as the Armalite. Now, I don't know the round count on the Colt, but it has the 1/7 twist barrel where the Armalite has the 1/9. I don't have much knowledge about "black rifles", so I was wondering if there is anything I should consider before making a purchase or is it a no-brainer? I think I have made my mind up but I was just wondering what you guys think. Thanks in advance.
  14. I've always found the best deals at gun shows. Seems like there is one somewhere in the Nashville / Murfreesboro / Shelbyville areas at least once a month these days. Both On Target and the Outpost Armory seem high to me. There is a new shop opening in Nashville in the next month or two that looks like it might be really nice. The Nashville Armory I think it is. Only problem with a really nice shop is the prices are usually a bit on the high side for me.
  15. I read that they are currently developing a .22TCM carbine. Not sure about an AR upper though. I also read about a Vmax round coming that will push 2400 fps from that 1911. I'll try to find that article. I know there were alot of folks wishing for a .22TCM barrel for their Glocks in some forums I found. I think it's an interesting round and it's on a 1911 frame to boot. I'm gonna ride up to Nashville tomorrow and get my hands on one and check it out in person.
  16. Wow. No input at all? Is there no interest or is there just not enough of them out there for anyone to know anything about them?
  17. I found a shop in Nashville that has a couple of them in stock. I think I'm gonna go check them out this weekend. I wonder if finding ammo would be an issue? Also found this...
  18. I may be late to the party, but I just saw this tonight and it peaked my interest. Anyone out there have one or know anything about them? All I know is they have a 17+1 capacity and also come with a 9mm barrell and recoil spring. The pricing that I have seen is right at $600. Any input would be appreciated. http://youtu.be/3S1imSviCvs
  19. This is correct. There was a very less than desireable result in a shooting. After that incident, the decision was made to find a new caliber. Also the fact that the .357 will not change trijectory, or changes very little, when passing through a windshield is a desireable quality for THP. THP officers are issued a Glock 31 and a 33 for back up. They also carry a 12ga and an AR. As a family member of a long time trooper, I am glad they are well-armed and very well-trained as most of the time there is little or no immediate back up avaliable for them.
  20. Yes, that's all I'm looking for. After looking for a couple of weeks and at a gun show, I am just going to buy an A2 with a 20" barrell. Now I just have to figure out which one to buy. Any suggestions? I have looked at Colt, Armalite, DSC, PSA, etc. I just don't know which one to settle on.
  21. I want an A2. I am trying to decide if I should build one or buy one. I don't have an unlimited budget, so I have to try to get the best value I can find. I want one that is as close to the original configuration as possible - triangular hand guards, 20" barrel, A2 stock and all if possible. I can't really afford an SP1, but I wish I could. Any suggestions?
  22. Do you know if these are worth buying?
  23. I know these used to be more common, but I am having trouble finding them. Anyone know if these are still available and if so, where to find them?
