  1. M&P The m&p is proving to be just as reliable as the glock. If it feels better and you like the way they shoot, then m&p it is. I carry a .40c with picky extender. Own the 9 and. 45 full size and love them all. The 9 shoots so sweet. I can't keep it out of the wifes' hands. Carry the. 45 as the car gun when traveling and when hunting. The. 40c is on me at all times, everywhere.
  2. Not sure but isn't tula and wolf junk coated with some sort of coating that becomes gooey when things get hot and sticks to the chamber that causes casings to become stuck? (Prevents rusting of the metal cases while on the shelf) The tight tolerance in the AR doesn't like that. The AK eats that wolf tula crap alive no problem. But the tolerances aren't that exact either.
  3. No worries. I was prepared for the haters. I did a lot of research prior to making my decision to go. I've seen the so called edinborough ambush video and have read the aar's about that incident. I also asked the instructor Jay about that in the class. He gave a simple answer of "everyone not doing their part". So all the arm chair critics who were not there but want to pretend they know all the facts and circumstances that took place are silly in my eyes and have no credibility to me. Those people always seem to know all the answers to events that transpired outside of there presence. I have gone through life enough to understand that when the heat is on and things go bad, normally honest, nice people will lie out their ass to save their own skin. Also, the one guy who is getting the blame and telling a different story than the rest is usually the only honest one. That whole situation stinks of lies and deceit. Those who base their entire judgement over something they really have no knowledge of are missing out on superb training in their on back yard. I know this first hand. The training I received was worth every penny. I will continue to go back and learn more.
  4. Fighting Pistol Class Tactical Response Camden, TN June 2/3, 2012 Instructors: Jay, Chester, Steve, David, Kayla All the instructors were very professional and extremely knowledgeable. It was very evident that they all practiced what they were preaching. That was very comforting to me. I have nothing but good things to say about them all. The class attendees consisted of a variety of occupations such as policeman, fireman, lawyers, mechanics, security contractors, engineers, students, musicians, doctors and businessmen. Men and women whose ages varied from late 50’s down to 14. Everyone got along and enjoyed each other’s company and always ready to lend a helping hand. I recommend attending any cook outs, meals or gatherings that are offered. The Fighting Pistol class itself was outstanding. It was the perfect mix of technical explanations broken down to dumb-ass terms that I could grasp and hands on application of the techniques. We all met up at the gear store at 0900 and started promptly. Short roll call and introductions at the beginning then straight to the safety rules and medical personnel identification. Before we knew it, we were off to the range. I’m not going to spend lots of time explaining the training and instruction that was given (take the class!). My past experience is like many others. I grew up around guns, hunting and shooting all the time. I spent six years in the Army. I thought I was confident and fairly familiar with handling weapons. I was sadly mistaken. I quickly realized that I didn’t know jack squat and was completely unprepared to handle a weapon in a proficient manner. The training was laid out so that a common, less than intelligent man such as me can grasp and comprehend the information the first time. I rarely had to ask a question for further explanation about the task they were trying to teach. When I did ask a question it was answered right away and I never felt like the instructors thought my questions were stupid or silly or a waste of time. The training taught from start to finish was as if I was learning how to walk all over again. They walked you through each step until you were running and jumping and rolling around. Do not think you are going to get away with doing it wrong too. There are eyes on you almost all the time. They catch things you are doing wrong and correct you right away and sternly. I like the way they are trying to keep the stress level up for us all. Twenty eight students split into two relays of fourteen. One relay ran at a time so five instructors for fourteen people. Perfect ratio for catching things you are doing wrong. Gear-bring it all, it’s on the list for a reason. Make sure it is not broken. Be prepared. Have your magazines loaded and for God’s sake……BRING YOUR GUN AND HAVE IT LOADED!!! You wouldn’t go to work without your tools of the trade. Don’t show up at a gun class without a gun loaded and ready to go. Sounds simple I know. You will be surprised how many folks are not prepared. I was using my daily carry S&W M&P .40 compact with a Don Hume J.I.T. Slide holster at 330-4 o’clock position. I was using Aguila ammo FMJ 180 grain. The gun ran flawlessly and shot like a dream. I had the required five magazines with pinky extenders (factory S&W). I carried two magazines on my weak side in a single Blackhawk! double magazine holder. I kept my last two magazines in my pants (Vertx) pockets and during training I would transfer those magazines into the mag holder when it was empty. My belt was a Galco instructor’s belt 1.5 inch double thickness reinforced. Bring sunglasses and a ball cap. Expect to take some rib jabbing if you’re not running a Glock 9MM, or a 9MM of any make. I was told I was compensating for a shortcoming in other areas. Kayla will be sure to let you know what she thinks about that for sure. I do have to say this. The only guns that were having problems were NOT made by S&W or Glock. After shooting for two days, that became very obvious. Will I take this or any other classes from Tactical Response at Camden again? Absolutely. I have made a list of which ones already. I highly recommend this training to beginners and so called “expertsâ€. The thing that impressed me the most was the adult environment and setting of the class. They treated you like a grown adult that is responsible to handle a firearm. There was no safety nazi’s screaming about this or that. They laid out the four rules of safety with a firearm. Honestly, they are the only four you really ever need to follow. They didn’t waste time treating you like a fool with a gun like a lot of training classes or ranges do. I love the “an unloaded gun is a dangerous gun†philosophy. It will be hard to be around a safety nazi from this time forward. For any nay-sayers out there that wants to cry and whine about their safety procedures…..1.) TAKE the class then whine!! Don’t whine about something you have not experienced. 2.) Tactical Response has trained over 15,000 students and has had 0 accidents. ZERO. That is impressive to me. Think about all the schools and workplaces that can’t go one week without someone getting hurt. Thank you for what you do Tactical Response. I will return. www.TacticalResponse.com
  5. I open carry 90% of the time. Im not going to hash out all the usual quotes and reasonings. It's my choice, plain and simple. I will say this. As far as the "bad guy could steal my gun" argument, give it a rest. This statement applies to EVERYTHING. Are you going to stop driving because a bad guy could steal your car? Is a woman going to stop openly carrying her purse because a bad guy could steal it? Want to talk about an easy target......there's times when im standing in a crowd and observing the ease at which you could steal anything from anyone. You could steal most sheeples own kids from under their nose. Point is, anything is possible. So many of y'all slam OC after trying it once or twice for 10 minutes at the local Shell station while paying for your gas. Life is about odds. You play against them all day. You might get fired. You might choke on breakfast. You might wreck your car. Blah blah, you get my point. Is the chance of teaching someone the good side of gun ownership or the possibility of deterring a crime because someone saw my gun worth the risk of getting shot first or the odds of someone trying to steal my gun? Yes. Nothing in this world changes without someone playing the odds.
  6. Everyone seems to be missing the main point of this story. DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE!!!! Is this a messed up story....yes. Was it wrong....yes. Does this type of thing need to stop....yes. Guess what, that gentleman would not have lost his money had he kept his mouth shut and not VOLUNTARILY given up his constitutional right to be secure in his property. Pretty simple to me. Don't answer questions that do not pertain to the reason of the stop. Even then, keep your mouth shut! Why do people not understand this. I'd rather get harassed by a cop and illegally detained, then file a lawsuit and win then give up my rights....in hopes of getting a cop that IS NOT corrupt. Police are human and the moral fabric of our society is dropping too low to expect a police officer to act morally and display good judgement. The "good" peace officers that alot of us grew up knowing are a thing of the past. Good cops now a days are as elusive as the jackalope. I don't understand people. This is why the government is not going to take ours rights by force. Every year we just give them up a little piece at a time. Please for all of us.....STOP talking to the cops. He is is not Dr. Phil. He is not your buddy. He has a purpose for every word that comes out of his mouth. The cop did not stop you because he was bored and needed someone to shoot the breeze with. When I get stopped for whatever reason, I hold the officer on the task at hand. When he starts his fishing trip, I cut his line. Do I seem like a dick...yes. Do I care, no. Do I get a ticket when he might have let me go, probably. Id rather get a ticket I can fight in traffic court then try to explain why I have a tire iron laying on the floor of my car next to me because im too lazy to put it back after using it and have some slick talking cop spin it around and turn something like that against me. You all need to remember one thing. Police are after bad guys and they have an arsenal of laws and tricks to make my grandmother a criminal if she keeps running her mouth long enough. Why take that chance. Keep your mouth shut.
  7. Reminds me of when I went out for milk and came home with a new ar15. Not good. Next day went and bought her a 42 inch flat screen. That was even worse idea. So I went to Shanes and got diamond earrings. All things are right with the force now.
  8. Ok. Few thoughts on this. What they tell the dispatcher when they call has no basis in truth. It usually ends up being something like: “There’s a man with a gun running around the grocery store scaring people!†If you were a cop, how would you respond to that call? I know I would respond with lights and siren and have my gun out on arrival. As soon as I saw the person described, I would put him on the ground at gunpoint and handcuff him until I could figure out what’s going on. That sounds great and all but this seems like a dispatcher that needs to find a new job. Most dispatchers ask tons of questions about the reported MWAG call. They are capable of discerning the difference between an over zealous call and an honest to God problem with a few simple question. So if cop shows up and goes all gungho then that's the cops fault. Other than that, there was some good points brought out in the article. Specially if you're wanting to be a super safe nanny. I think the main reason cops get shot with their own gun is the criminal thinks to himself "no way your taking me alive coppers!". Citizens can't send bad guys to jail and ruin their fun time. Why would they want a confrontation that will draw attention and possibly get them shot when they can just break into 5 houses and get more guns than they can carry? Only nutjob, cracked out space cadets would do something as brazen as try to steal my gun while at walmart. Possible? Sure is. Just as possible as me getting hit by a meteorite while I'm leaving for work tomorrow. Am I going to stay home and change over a maybe? Nope. I open carry everywhere I legally can. Have been for over 3 years now. Cops never bother me. No one has gone crazy and confronted me about it. I have had the pleasure of schooling countless people who, believe it or not didn't even know you were allowed to carry a gun by law. I open carry in the liberal heartland (wholefoods, demos, etc) and I have had the best of conversations about it. They maybe liberals, but a liberal is nothing more than someone who is void of facts. Most of them don't even realize anything more than their 2 foot radius around themselves to care much about what I'm doing or wearing. I don't mind the risks of OC'ing as long as I can educate and be a good example of the positive side of gun ownership.

    Damn USPS...

Howdy all. First post here. I could not resist any longer. I have been reading this forum for a while and decided to finally join. Ok, to start out. With all the USPS bashing posts in this forum, I can't be the only gun lovin' fanatic to work for USPS who is willing to open his mouth. There seems to be a TON of misconceptions about the USPS and its operations. Some of it is true and some of it is not. I don't even know where to start with the information, and not really going to try. Simply put, USPS does not receive one dollar of tax money and hasn't for over 30 years. All revenue comes from stamps and packages. The USPS is a company just like Walmart, FEDEX or any other companies out there. Unfortunately, we are still "controlled" by Uncle Sam. Similar to the way Uncle Sam doesn't run the airline business but it basically does with all it's stupid regulations, FAA and rules. In the '80-'90's the USPS was making money hand over fist and had a yearly surplus of money. Now we all know that profit in a company is bad. USPS tries to break even to not show a profit. Along comes Uncle Sam and they see that we are making money and decides they wanted it so they stopped all of our spending that we were doing to improve the company (vehicle replacement, computers, sorting machines, so on and so on). So they imposed the mandatory front loading of the retirement account (aka general fund) that no other company in the country has to do...just USPS, which you guessed it, is controlled by none other than Uncle Sam. So, using the power the Constitution gives congress to maintain a "post office/routes" they bossed us into doing stupid things that are now biting us in the rear. Our payroll for one month alone, just salary not including benefits, is almost 5 billion dollars. "The Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service sets policy, procedure, and postal rates for services rendered, and has a similar role to a corporate board of directors. Of the eleven members of the Board, nine are appointed by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate (see 39 U.S.C. § 202). The nine appointed members then select the United States Postmaster General, who serves as the board's tenth member, and who oversees the day to day activities of the service as Chief Executive Officer (see 39 U.S.C. §§ 202–203). The ten-member board then nominates a Deputy Postmaster General, who acts as Chief Operating Officer, to the eleventh and last remaining open seat. The USPS is often mistaken for a government-owned corporation (e.g., Amtrak) because it operates much like a business, but as noted above, it is legally defined as an "independent establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States" <------- (what in the world does that sentance mean? How can you be an independent establishment and still be controlled by the government?), (39 U.S.C. § 201) as it is controlled by Presidential appointees and the Postmaster General. As a quasi-governmental agency, it has many special privileges, including sovereign immunity, eminent domain powers, powers to negotiate postal treaties with foreign nations, and an exclusive legal right to deliver first-class and third-class mail. Indeed, in 2004, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a unanimous decision that the USPS was not a government-owned corporation, and therefore could not be sued under the Sherman Antitrust Act. That's why USPS employee's are labeled government employees, but we really aren't......or are we? It's very confusing. To make matters worse, the Office of Inspector General has taken over most of our fiscal, auditory, contracting and postal inspector operations. Let me tell you, you want something screwed up, allow the OIG to be involved. They took over our charge accounts, credit card for fuel and parts, retirement, disability, fraud, customer service...just about anything you can think of. Not to mention the worthless Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) crap we had to conform too. I'm not EVEN going to get started on how bad the 3 different unions are messing the company up also. As far as the Postmaster in Smyrna doing what he did to this OP, that disgusts me. If anyone in here has an issue with a postmaster, supervisor or manager please post it. Not sure what I can do, but you’d be surprised what the right word in the right ear can do. Management is on edge and they are eliminationg jobs left and right at the company level so a complaint in the right place might be the one that tips the scales. Short story. A fellow employee of mine that happens to be a supervisor of a post office in Nashville, but does not live in Nashville, tried to mail a rifle at the post office he lives near. He had the exact same argument with the clerk at the counter that this OP had. Then, he argued with the supervisor of that post office until that supervisor finally looked up the regs and realized he was wrong. Even after finding out that he was wrong, he still didn't want to ship the rifle. What it boils down to is this...OIG has everyone scared silly for their jobs. No one knows the regulations and they are beating the "suspect everything and everyone as a bad guy" into us almost daily that they are afraid that even if they follow the regulations regarding firearms, the OIG doesn't know the regulations about firearms either and there is no explaining it to OIG because they know everything. One more thing to think about also. There is approximately 625,000 people living in Nashville alone. Every day, a postal worker comes to their house. For the most part, the complaints are miniscule considering the scope of the job that is done. A little over 380,000 USPS employees visit 100,000,000+ households everyday (except Sunday) so you are going to hear about the bad stuff. In reality the percentage of bad is extremely low in the scale of the job that we do and the people we interact with. If Uncle Sam would just get out of our way, even with the unions still causing trouble, we could provide so much more proficient and enjoyable service for everyone. For the record, USPS ships more packages a year than FEDEX. Plus, you would be surprised at how many of us postal workers are closet gun freaks and conservative minded, patriotic Americans. In my office alone, 75% of us have carry permits (including the ladies). Our clerk the other day just shot her first AR and is in love. "On December 5, 2011 the USPS announced it will close more than half of its mail processing centers, eliminate 28,000 jobs and end overnight delivery of first-class mail. This will close down 252 of its 461 processing centers. On December 13, 2011 the USPS agreed to delay the closing of 252 mail processing centers as well as 3,700 local post offices until mid-May 2012." This statement is true, but mainly to scare Congress into letting us do our own thing. If the People get upset about losing their local post office, then they will contact their senators. (Hopefully). Sorry for being all over the road in this post. I'm just tired of a few bad apples giving the majority of us USPS workers a bad rap. The problem is the size of our company. 10% of bad apples is 40,000+ workers. Those 40,000 can affect a lot of people in the community.
