First open carry at Walmart - New yearly tradition!
101 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This!!!!!! Is why I open carry whenever possible!! This is a text book example of how to conduct yourself and be an ambassador of carrying a gun. There is no telling how many people you have inspired to buy or carry a gun of their own. Imagine if more people OC on a daily basis. Good for you!! -
AAA is good stuff. Saved the wife in the middle of KY at 0300 when she ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

According to some on here stated in the past it is pretty simple. You just stop and detain everyone until you determine if they are a criminal or not then say "oops" and let them go. ;)

I LOVE being called closed minded. I have convictions and beliefs that I hold dear and to be "open minded" in today's terms means that someone is telling me I'm wrong and I need to believe like they do. (Homosexuality is a good example) I take being closed minded as a badge of honor.

Coworker lives in Dickson and says its a huge democrat stronghold. Don't know personally but he has grown up in that area so I take his word for it.

Man charged with felony for releasing balloons
101 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The plan of the left is to make every crime a felony of some degree so they can deny the right to vote and own firearms. Simple enough. Make more felony laws = more felons. Eventually everyone will be a felon or mentally unfit to own a firearm. -
Excellent!! Thank you all for the help. The Wilson link is close to what I am looking for. Thank you.

...leather, trifold chain wallet with an ID window and credit card slots. You would be surprised how absolutely difficult this has been to find one!! Just a normal, black trifold chain wallet. I think I have a better chance at having a heart attack than funding one. Please help.

http://politics.foxnews.mobi/quickPage.html?page=23888&external=2184647.proteus.fma Felony charge for "annoying" a police officer. The hits simply keep on coming. Can New York get any more stupid?

I'm not going to lie. That caught me so off guard that I actually teared up. There is hope.

James wasn't even present for the two classes I attended. He is more of a spokesman then an instructor. He travels and sets up the class locations and does PR. The school has many great and competent instructors. If fact in one of his videos he states that so many people have been requesting him personally for training as of lately that he set aside 5 classes for this year that he will be the instructor but you have to request to be in one. I think they are full already. I see it this way. I don't like home depot's political views or the way they fund political crap I don't agree with. I don't like their CEO BUT I still shop there because they have products I need. I see Tactical Response in that manner. I don't care about the personal life or personality of the figurehead because the training is outstanding and the instructors are top notch, no BS, real world experience men that have something I want.

Interesting. So the FPS guy was either trying to be friendly and simply warn my friend or he was trying to intimidate him with abuse of authority. OR If this is the case and the FPS had tried to actually pull him over all official like and he (my friend) was under the assumption that the FPS had no power to do so and refused to pull over, would he be evading or criminally charged? The FPS are hardly known by anyone and their vehicles are poorly marked (it just says simply "police" and anyone can put a sticker that says that) so it could be argued that an reasonable person could believe that vehicle might not be legit?

I have a friend "Joe" who told me about an event. He lives in my area (cheatham county sticks). We have been noticing more and more those FPS SUV's driving around. We can't figure out why they are in our area. They never have been before until about four years ago. Anyways, the other day he follows one up the back roads to I24. Once on the on ramp, the FPS guy takes his good old time getting up to speed and tries to merge going like 50. So good old Joe (mustang) decides to blow this guys doors off and pass him getting up to speed with the interstate. My guess is he was going 80'ish being under the same thought as me "they have no jurisdiction or authority to pull me over" being that they are just security police for federal grounds and buildings. This FPS guy falls in behind my friend and starts tapping his lights and chirping his siren. Joe thinks to himself, f*** off and maintains his speed ignoring FPS guy. FPS guy gives up after a minute and just follows Joe. Joe gets off at next exit and FPS guy keeps going. Question is....was this guy abusing authority he does not have or was he able to pull Joe over? My guess is FPS guy was all butt hurt because someone had the audacity to ignore his shiny "police" car. Thoughts?

There it is again. The defacto response from some, not all, LEO that just can't seem to grasp the concept of the laws they are charged with upholding. They want us to relent and just pat them on the head and say how tough a job they have and relinquish our freedom just so they can have less paperwork to do or so they can sleep at night after stomping on our rights all day long. I know I said I was done in this thread but I lack self control. Reading a good portion of the comments on the story at the police site and half the cops on there are saying this guy was right and those cops violated his rights. So that gives me hope!!

Have not taken the way of the rifle. I've been to two fighting pistols in a year. If I had more vacation time I would take all their classes available. Very much recommend.

OK. Let us recap. 1. Most posters on this topic agreed, at some point, the man did not break any laws. He was well within his legal rights to OC without harassment and he also has a legal right to be a pain in the rear and exercise his right to not cooperate because he did nothing wrong. 2. Most also agreed that the cops were wrong in the way they handled the situation. Those are the two main points at hand here. That being said. We still have opinions (mainly from LE, including my own 20 year retired LE friend I ran this by) that he should have just bent over and kissed boot to make the whole thing go away. Also, it has been said that someone would still have charged him with SOMETHING just for being a pain. Am I the only one that finds this attitude really disheartening? This topic is really bringing my outlook about LE being here for us, on our side, down. I'm done with this one.....too depressing.

The cops had no right to strike back. No matter how hard headed the guy got. Plus the the terry stop crap says armed and dangerous, not armed or dangerous. That equals two qualifying conditions. Simply being armed does not mean the cops have the right to assume I'm a felon and need to verify otherwise.

1. Who cares what he was carrying!! If it is not against the law (which it is not in Ohio) then he should not have been detained. The cop asked for his name and once the guy refused (which he has a right to do) the cop should have walked away and went about his business. If he was a felon then he got damn lucky and he will get caught at some other point in time. Plus, if he was a felon the charge could get thrown out with a good lawyer because the cop did an illegal stop. 2. Breaking the law is breaking the law so the driving analogy is very prudent. If it is OK so stop and detain a person against his will when he has COMMITTIED NO CRIME just for and solely to see if he might be a felon or a suspended license then it is very much the same principle.
