No offense to those involved, but who texts a three year old? Am I that far out of the loop with technology?

I heard this was going to happen

What happened to all the "Come and get them!!" crowd? So much for being a true patriot. Standing in line to register their guns. So many tuff talkers and now just following along with unconstitutional laws. Almost seems like the same as "I'm just following orders". -
CPS forcibly removes a child from mothers womb ...

I know right?! What happens in other countries could never happen here. Right? Say....um...I don't know ..... universal healthcare .... socialism .... gun control? Just wondering. -
They are also in the works for same day delivery in major metropolitan areas. Order before 1400 and get the package by 2000.

This statement is 100% true. The post office has not received one dollar in tax money since the mid '70s. The only money the USPS gets from the government of any level is reimbursement for mailing overseas election ballots to deployed military personnel. The post office foots the bill first then turns in the cost to Uncle Sam. I wish they would post this information all over the news for the next ten years because I'm tired of hearing it and tired of trying to explain it to those that think the post office is tax payer funded.

We judge everyone all day long. I spank my child in public, which causes no lasting harm to the child and the cops show up and arrest me and take my kid. A parent feeds their child cookies, taco bell, burger king, slushies, doughnuts, chips, coke, candy and candy....then some more candy causing the kid to become fat and have diabetes or lasting health issues its entire life and we shouldn't judge? Something just isn't right.

You nailed this so far out of the ball park!!!! Very nicely said. Now, I am always for minding your own f'n business....but I think sometimes that frame of mind might be hursting us more than helping. Some parents have NO and I mean NO!!! clue that you should be a parent and control your child's eating habits. I only say this because I have two and one is one year old and in daycare. The other day I walked into daycare and saw another child, same age (roughly) as mine, eating a powdered doughnut. The day before that she was eating cheesepuffs. This child is overweight and barely one year old! This child also eats vienna sausages...really? I have never been a beacon of health or really cared about what I eat but the minute I had a child I just knew in my gut and heart that a baby should not be eating cheesepuffs and krispycreams. My point is also what has been stated. 9/10 fatties are fat because of what they are eating and how much if it. Usually the disease comes after they are already fat.

I believe a portion of it might be the "respect my authority" complex. I have been stopped and the cop never said a word and could care less after running my license, but he was cool and professional. The few times I have been stopped and the cop runs my license and sees the permit he gets all butthurt and wants to berate me after we have concluded business like he's my mother scolding me for not making my bed. I tell him that I do not legally have to tell him and he says (this is the funny part) "you should tell me anyways, that law does not matter". That usually happens with the younger less professional cops.
-
I am not a cop. I would assume though that a good cop would always assume the person he is dealing with is armed and be ready for anything. You would think that after all these years of people being armed with permits that the policing profession would know that the people who shoot cops are not the ones with the permits. Can it happen?.....sure. Regardless of how or when he finds out about the weapon a good cop should already be mentally prepared for a weapon to exist.
-
This is number one reason to not tell them you are armed. Let them ask you. No need to inform, legally, so keep your mouth shut unless asked. Too easy.

Sounds like someone was talking in his sleep and the wife wasn't happy about the content. ;)

The argument is not a true, honest stop when someone did something wrong. The point is the blind "checkpoint" in the middle of nowhere when you were not doing anything wrong and you are forced to stop against your will just so a "LE" can ask you questions. The initial stopping of citizen is unconstitutional in every sense of the word. They have no, none, zero reasonable suspicion or can neither articulate the specific crime that was committed for stopping the citizen. Therefore, the "papers please" stopping of citizen is illegal. Why would anyone want to cooperate with an unjust stop? I would not. I would be polite but I would not comply. Compliance means acceptance. DaveS is sure to chime in about how his job is so hard and we should all just kiss his boot and answer the questions just to make sure he can go home safe and he won't shoot my dog. ;)

Don't know what is in the basement but it use to be a bar called the cow palace. That was back in 94 before yamatos was there. I never got the feeling of the girls being that way. I took my family and son (8 at the time) in there all the time and they were very friendly. Them again I'm not single either but I never noticed more than just girls wanting good tips. Hard to tell these days I guess.

Yamatos outside of gate 1 of Fort Campbell. I promise it is the best sushi. 24W, exit 1, turn left, right at tiny town road (first light I think), go 4-5 miles until a T in the road then turn left (41A), yamatos will be on your left directly across from gate 1. White building with big sign, can't miss it.

Thank you. This sounds like very sound advice. Thank you also for taking pride in your profession and following the law you are charged with enforcing. I had an old friend that was LE and he told me that there was never a need for a cop to be crooked or break the law, the criminals will get caught in due time and there are enough true bad guys that he didn't have to make one out of everyone he came in contact with.

The one at Dickerson road by skyline will sell it anytime of the day, doesn't matter. I use to go on there when I got off of work on a Sunday night at 1130 and buy ammo. I had to track someone down but they only told me no once because the last guy that worked the sporting goods section shift took the cabinet keys home with him.

Nice!! Not quite that hoop-dee. Good one.

I like the responses so far. It is interesting to shed some light on a subject few of us know anything about. Keep it coming.

I appreciate everyone's input. That sheds some light on the situation. Very helpful. I do stop completely. I drive a standard and let the car roll backwards a bit after I stop completely. I always have. I'm not complaining about getting pulled over for something I did. I'm complaining because I know for a fact I am not doing what they are accusing. I am OCD about this kind of stuff. Thank you all for responding.

OK. Here's the question. When a LEO runs your plates.....can they not see that you have a CDL, carry permit, armed guard license, any outstanding tickets or warrants? Do they have to actually run your drivers license number to find out all that stuff? I'm so tired of getting pulled over for frivolous crap like california stops, being told I was speeding when I was not, or some other made up crap. Just because I drive a twenty five year old hoop-dee that looks like a crackhead's car doesn't mean they need to fish for something that is nonexistent just to do nothing but waste my time and give me a warning. I get pulled over and or followed at least 3-4 times a month on my way to or from work and my employer and wife are getting tired of my getting pulled over excuse. Make a freaking note on my plates or something and leave me alone! I'm going to get a set of cameras and start recording this crap so I can make bank at some point. This is getting ridiculous. I barely like cops to begin with and y'all aren't helping to improve that at all. Follow the law and stop pulling violations out of your ass please. Thank you. (To the good cop out there, please ignore this and please police your coworkers to keep your profession out of the mud.)

Pretty sure a guy that bought ammo this morning

I'm not a genius but no business would spend the money to build additional factories or production lines knowing that an outrageous consumer run on a particular product line is nothing but a temporary thing. Temporary maybe be one year or five years but it's temporary nonetheless. -
Don't worry. The background check won't last long because it would discriminate against and exclude felons and violent criminals from exercising their right to get better at their chosen profession.... Oh wait...

Colorado apartment complex bans guns
101 replied to c.a.willard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Devils advocate here. Let's say this: apartments rented or leased are supposed to be your "home court". A contract is signed stating that they can remove a right from you if you agree to stay with them. Cars are suppose to be your home court also. Let's say that when you purchase a car (because you are still renting anything if you make payments of any sort) they can add a phrase in the paper work stating that you can't have a firearm in your car. Let's say your house you have a mortgage on because until you pay it off the bank owns it. Where does it stop? I know it's far fetched but let's say the city says "hey you taxpayer, that street isn't paid for yet and you're the owner so technically you're still renting that so we can tell you what you can do, on or about said street. Seem silly? I agree. After what we all have gone through the last 5 years (and longer if you count patriot act) I would not be surprised. -
