  1. I still have some loaded from last year.  I use 357 Mag brass, a grain of whatever (Clays, last year), followed by a piece of gasket, then as much crushed walnut media as I can fit followed by more gasket.  Good to about 8 feet.     Maroon asked about the wadding.  I use something like this from O'Reilly's.   http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-3157?seid=srese1&gclid=CPWPgqeFrsQCFQeRaQodaEgAsQ    Just fold it over on itself about 4 or 5 times, and hammer a piece of decapped brass through it to cut that many disks at a time.  You can poke the disks out through the primer whole with a small allen wrench or something.
  2. It depends on the RO.  But generally, yes.  I have had an RO get uppity even when I handed him the correct tag indicating the office approved the suppressor.  But 95% of my experiences out there are good.     But then, I am shooting slowly too, while sitting.  And I never bother to take a handgun out there.  They make you shoot those sitting down.  They are about to start opening the 300 yard portion out there too on certain weekends.
  3. A the Expo Show in Knoxville last week I came across a table (in the back corner near David) selling several different styles of what I thought were Microtech OTF knives.  The first red flag I noticed though was that the was asking $70 a piece for them.   I took a closer look, and every style he had--whether is was "ultratech" or "Troodon", or even some others I didn't recognize--had what appeared to be real "Microtech" belt clips on them, but they ALL said "Combat Troodon" on the clip.     I have a real Combat Troodon and the belt clips where identical to mine.  The actual copy of the Combat Troodon he had was very convincing.  But it was a little heavy, and had a non-slip coating on it.  The blade had some tool marks on it that made it look "cheaper" than the real thing, but someone who hadn't handled a real one recently could have easily been fooled.     Just wanted to give a heads up!
  4. They told me that they can't allow suppressors that are in trusts last week.  Mine are not in trusts, but still I thought it was silly.  There are two different fellows that work the office when I have been there.  A smaller fellow and a bigger one.  The smaller one has always been great.  The bigger one has sometimes been a bit of a jerk.  He also is the one who told me of the suppressor rule.   I shoot there maybe once every couple of months and normally have a good experience.  But I only go shoot bench rifles from there.     I used to spend a lot of time at the Norris Range (lived in Lake City) throughout the 1990's but over the years I kept running into lunatics out there.  People shooting steel targets at 10 yards with AK's...holes all in the targets.  People jerk firing from the hip to try and simulate full-auto...and I have been swept out there so many times I quit noticing.  I have heard they have fixed up Norris a lot...maybe there are fewer ding dongs now.
  5.   The LT is smaller and presumably lighter.  You can use both the LT and M2 QD muzzle devices on the M2, but can only use LT on the LT.   I don't know a lot of details about the LT, but I know the M2 is 300WM rated.  I think they rate the LT is slightly quieter, but if I am not mistaken Mike@LES said in hearing both, he thought they sounded the same.  I don't see how the LT can be quieter since it has less internal volume and I don't think that the baffle design is very different.
  6. I second Lumberjack on the M2.     I, too, have one I got from Law Enforcement Sales.  I have recently been running it on my 300 Win Mag (thanks for the thread job, Mike!) using the YHM QD Muzzle brake, which works very well...I mean it really soaked up a lot of recoil on the rifle.  With the suppressor on it's even better...it sounds like a 22LR with a thump and kicks like a 243.     I am really happy with the Phantom M2, and it is rated for 300 Win Mag.   I'd love to have a titanium can of some sort, but can't justify spending the money on one right now when I am already so happy with this one.
  7. The bumwash below the Sunsphere has a similar sign.
  8.   AMC will give Gilligan time to work.  It took a while for BB to get there...that is why cable TV is consistently better than network, IMO.  On the broadcast networks, if a show has more than a few occasional weeks of low ratings it will get cancelled.  On cable, they are willing to endure some bad rating cycles to build greater interest later.
  9. Did anyone watch last night?  I think Jonathan Banks won an Emmy with that performance.  That was as good as any episode of Breaking Bad.  Gut-wrenching.     Spin-offs normally suck.  This one is going to work.
  10.   Then assuming you have a scope that will hold zero, the Timney trigger is the way to go.  It will make a huge difference for less and $150.  Keep your eyes open (ebay) for a good stock.  You may be able to salvage the one you have.  I am not sure how well they can be bedded, but you can do a skim bedding job for the cost of some JB Weld.
  11. I recently went through and have made a lot of changes to my Sendero.  I went with the flat trigger Timney, and REALLY like it.  Tremendous upgrade over the X-Trigger.  I haven't shot one of the old Remmy triggers in so long, I don't know how it compares to it, but again, MUCH better than X trigger.  I bought a new one on Ebay for $125, which is a much better price than Midway or Brownells.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/351146211595?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT   Stockystocks.com is selling Bell and Carlson Medalist stocks for around $285 shipped.  I don't know if they have anything for a sporter profile barrel, though. I am not sure what you have, but I assume it isn't a bull barrel since you didn't mention it.  Again, I don't know what stock you have on it now, but one that is stiff and can be effectively bedded would be a huge help.     I am running a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 that I like, but there are much better options I am sure.  If the gun is already shooing lights out, then a nice scope is a good move, but if it isn't, I would just use a scope that I know will hold zero until I did a trigger/stock.     As for barrel, I have noticed that there are usually take-off barrels on Ebay, if you wanted to upgrade to a bull barrel, or change to a different caliber.  A new Sendero 300 WM take off was sold on there last week for ~150.  If I ever come across a sporter myself, I plan to send it off to Teludyne to try the Straight Jacket treatment.  I have read a lot of good things about it.  It gives the barrel the stiffness and heat disappation of a bull barrel with a lot less weight.  They can also do a muzzle brake at the same time for about the same price.   http://www.teludynetech.com/technology/    Hope this helps!
  12. Better looking than a Glock. If it can give the VP9 a run in terms of accuracy, trigger, and cost, it it will be worth trying.
  13. I think we should challenge the notion that civilians cant have AP ammo in the first place. I suppose they would have us believe criminals dont have armor (LA Shootout). Of course, the purpose of the The 2nd Amendment is to guard us against tyranny. Tyrants usually have armor.
  14. Drudge has picked this up the below.   http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/article/2560750    Rush spent his monologue on the matter.  Pointed out how The Left called "paranoid kooks"  those who ran out to buy ammo when Obama was elected and again after Newtown.
  15. Lol, I know a lot of guys hate them...but they don't know what they are missing.  The drama.  The stubborness.  They really are brats.  For some reason, that makes them lovable.
  16. Saw this live last night.  He was very animated.     http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/02/25/lone-survivor-marcus-luttrell-has-to-restrain-himself-on-air-when-asked-this-question-about-chris-kyles-killer/   Hope its not a repost.
  17. I keep an oven mitt in my range bad at all times!     I recently picked up an Elite Iron wrap, which seems like it will work well.  Mirage on a hot gun is a serious problem if you're looking through glass.
  18. Sadly, I can't answer the mag ring piece, but I have a Viper PST 2.5-10x44 that I am really impressed with.  Great glass, good reticle, precise clicks, and it has ridden a SCAR 17 308, and AR-10, and a Remington 700 in 300 Win Mag holding zero on all three.
  19. Fantastic!
  20. He may have just conflated his actual memories with someone's else.  That was the word for Brian Williams.
  21. Its the standard front half with a VLTOR back half.     https://www.vltor.com/shop/scar/vss-11-scar-stock/    Its ugly, but gives you some storage space for airplane bottles of booze.     Rumor has it that Stryker is about to come out with a new rear plate that will let a SCAR mate up with an ACR stock.
  22.   This is something that I struggle with too.  My wife's friend is married to a muslim.  She says he doesn't practice and doesn't seem to mind his wife's "western" ways, and the fact that she is really into pop-culture, etc, etc.  He has no accent of any kind and was raised in the US.  Most people wouldn't know he is of islamic heritage if they weren't told. He seems to be a typical Tennessean, except that he is very left leaning in his politics.   What I worry about is that as a Christian...if I have a faith-based crisis of conscience and decide I am not living the right way, I am going to become less dangerous.  I will go to church, and not drink so much, and do more works of charity.  If, on the other hand, he has a faith-based crisis of conscience, he may behead her and go shoot up a synagogue.  I fear that the "bad" muslims are the ones that are not dangerous...the ones that are good and faithful...they worry me.   I know this is not PC, but I can't help but be distrustful.  I mean, frankly, their religion is brilliant in that it directs them to deceive non-muslims ("us").  It means that anyone who knows that true muslims are instructed to deceive won't trust a non-practicing muslim for fear they are being deceived.  The distrust that the non-practicing muslim feels from "us" may drive them right back into the fold and radicalize them (or normalize them as the case may be).  The direction to deceive makes it difficult for a muslim to leave the religion as they will not be trusted by outsiders.  It makes it difficult for me to trust those that rebuke Jihad.
  23. Lol, good eye!  I picked one up directly from Geissele at the NRA show in Houston a couple years ago...and saved about $100 compared to Midway.   That is something to keep in mind about the NRA show in Nashville...sometimes manufacturers are there that will sell at deep discounts vs retailers!
  24. I remember that. Someone left a bottle of wine out there too! The ice was very thick.
  25. A very nice picture.     As an aside, I brought my skates to take a lap around that pond back in 2010 when it froze over about 4 inches thick.  That year, if you will recall, we had something like 23 straight days where we never got over 30 degrees in Oak Ridge.  I went home from work there on Friday evening and told my boss I was going to skate it on Monday, but alas, it warmed up on Sunday, and by Monday it was just a little too soft to try.  That is some nasty water...I didn't want to fall into it.   Your pic is catching it as its best!
