  1. Judging by what France and Greece did yesterday, I suspect Gold and Silver are wise. The euro is about to go TU.
  2. I was robbed at gun point a few years ago at a motel I worked at in Lake City, and I am thankful for the experience, as stupid as that sounds. I would have had no idea what to expect when someone gets the drop on me had I not, but now at least I have some idea what they are talking about when they say "condition black". I was carrying concealed at the time but the guy had his gun on me before I knew it, so I chose to follow his commands, which were basically, "give me your money". I was alert enough that when he turned to go out the door, I debated if should I draw and fire, but figured shooting him in the back wouldn't be very defensible in court. The guy blew his brains out about 20 minutes after robbing me as the police closed in on him,. When I heard about that a few minutes later, that is when it really caught up to me and I realized how lucky I was. The "sickness" feeling didn't really pass until many hours later, after a big meal (Kanpai of Tokyo). It sounds like you performed wonderfully.
  3. Big difference between those two possibilites.
  4. Wait, do you mean that it does not retain the BCG back even when you manually engage it, or just when firing the last round?
  5. That is why I will not visit a place where I can not go armed. Might as well be stumbling around Mordor. Welcome to TN.
  6. I bet it is light with that skinny barrel! Both the above and the OP's AR look very nice!
  7. Shorts are quieter than a pellet gun out of my savage bolt. The Aquila 60 grain LR's are quieter than that...AND will cycle the action in a suppressed Ruger 22/45.
  8. Hello All, I am just getting back into reloading after a 20 year hiatus, and playing with 308 reloads for the first time. I can find a lot of data on 308 in general, but wondering if anyone has anything for a 16 inch barrel? I am shooting a SCAR 17S with the 1 in 12 twist. Anyone have a good load they have experiance with for something like that? I am using 150 Nosler Ballistic tips, and 165 grain AMAX to start. Thanks!
  9. When you don't beat LSU, you get angry. When you get angry, you buy a Harley. When you buy a Harley, you meet a 25 year old blonde female former college volleyball player. When you meet a 25 year old blonde female former college volleyball player, you invite her to ride on your Harley. When the 25 year old blonde female former college volleyball player rides on your Harley pressed against you, you end up in a roadside ditch. Don't end up in a roadside ditch.
  10. With Caster. I just want to go as long as I can just to see if I can. I believe it was Poindexter, who in Revenge of the Nerds asked "would you rather live in the ascendancy of a civilization or during its decline?"
  11. Not to hi-jack the thread from the value of Alcohol (it is valuable now and will continue to be), but I wanted to chime in on the SHTF scenario. So many scenarios listed here are possible, some even probable. There are only a few that could come any moment and we would have no warning, and of those, most would not be a long term issue. The one that could come with no warning, change everything for ever, and we have no evidence to suggest how likely or unlikely it is, is the old classic that no one on "Doomsday Preppers" ever mentions, and its more scary than zombies. Aliens. It is nearly a mathimatic impossibility that there is NOT intelligent life out there. In fact, it is likely there are COUNTLESS intelligent races. Many of you may say, "if an alien race has the technology to get here, there is no "prepping" that can be done. They will simply scrape us off this planet with their boot heel and be done with it." That is a distinct possibility. But, we have numerous examples in Earth's history where a vastly superior invader did NOT completely wipe out the native population. One great thing about prepping is that alot of the work you do for one SHTF scenario will be helpful for a different one, so whatever gets you going is the one for which to prepare. But about everytime I stop to think, "well, the dollar could pull through" or "I am 600 miles form a major faultline" or "I live in a rural area"...I remember that hostiles from Zeta Reticuli could be popping into our solar La Grange as we speak. Maybe they have have The Death Star, or maybe they are just Force Recon wanting to see how resilient we are. Can they just roll us into the sea, or will we get our "guerilla on". If they have the Death Star, then prepping isn't much good unless you are building a space raft. But if they have a media like we do...then if we make it nasty enough, maybe we survive. Cheers!
  12. I am new to the site, and wanted to say hello. I work in Oak Ridge, and live in Powell (North Knoxville). My current infatuations are my suppressed AR in 300 Blackout and my new SCAR 17S. This looks like a wonderful site, and I have already gained a lot of great info!
