Not sure if I am following this. I may have misunderstood, but Trayvon Martin was 17 years old at the time of his death. The only interview with him I have seen is the Hannity interview, which was the first...have there been any since then? He did apologize at the end of he interview and show remorse. When asked if he would have done anything different, he can't just say "I never would have gotten out of my truck"...to do so admits guilt. Besides, how is getting out of your truck in your neighborhood a crime.

This what I am up against. 4x just isn't enough for a 308. I am not sure if 6x is either. I really liked his ACOG 6x, but I still couldn't see the bullet holes at 100 with it very clearly. I really think 10x is probably the way to go, but then you get into the large diameter objective, and I think I like the 30mm tube with the 24mm obj lense. I don't think anyone makes that combo in anything stronger than 6x though.

So I went out to JSR in Knoxville over the weekend to test some loads in my 300 BLK and SCAR 308. Next to me where some older fellows from Hotlanta, who were shooting an AR, a Steyr Aug Bull Pup, an AK, and what appeared to be an AR-10. With all the blasting I didn't really talk much to them til I was done shooting, when I noticed the scope on the AR-10 was a BIG Acog of some sort. I asked the owner about it as I have been trying to settle on an optic on my SCAR. He offered to let me look through it, and mentioned that he couldn't get it sighted in, and asked if I would mind seeing if I could get it lined up. I warned him that I am no crack shot by any means, but that I was happy to help. He tossed me a full mag of 20 rounds and lined up on his spotting scope to walk me in. When I picked up the rifle I noticed it was a R.E.P.R! WOW! What a nice rifle! The scope was an ACOG 6x48 with horseshoe 7.62 reticle, which I really liked. Since I had just been shooting the SCAR moments before it was interesting to handle the REPR since I had never had the chance before. It is definitely a lot heavier than my gun, and yet, much slimmer. It also kicks much harder, though isn't as loud. It was a 16" model (like my SCAR) and did have a muzzle break, so I attribute part of the percieved loudness and recoil difference to my muzzle break's effectiveness. I had only ONE round left to share in common between the two (168 gr AMAX over 48 grains of Varget). I had been testing that load in mine and only had the one left, but shot it through his gun to compare recoil and noise. I wish I could have had more of that load to shoot through his just to compare accuracy. I am not sure what ammo we were shooting after that as the mag was already loaded up, but the bullets had a dark grey-ish finish on them, but weren't ballistic tips. Anyway, he mentioned he needed to get it bore sighted since it was so far off, but we had some targets up at 15 years, so I figured maybe we could get them on the paper there. Tried dead center on a JSR standard target (which is about 18" by 12" ...I guess?), no hole in paper. I thought if we are that bad off at 15 yards, we may have no luck. So I started clockwise shooting each corner of the paper to see if a hit would appear. Of course, wasted four more shots as it was the last possibility, got it on paper at the low left corner...off about 12 inches high and 5 inches right at 15 yards...1/4 MOA clicks meant a LOT of turns. I made a mental error at 15 that cost me a lot of rounds at 50 (was adjusting scope to shoot a couple inches high at 15, but that meant the bullets were going over the back board at 50) I realized my mistake and got it on paper at 50, then went for 100 with only 3 rounds left. I shot 2 rounds grouped an inch appart about 8 inches high and 4 left of center, then did the math and adjusted scope and fired the last round. Damned if it didn't hit dead center on the target. I wish I would have some more rounds to confirm, but at least it appeared to be sighted in, and I felt I was holding very steady during the last shot. Of course, due to parallax, it may not be dead on for him, but he was thrilled, and I was excited to shoot with a scope that the clicks did EXACTLY what they were supposed to do, and the rifle was accurate enough to make it work. I've had some scopes that would hold zero very well, but the click value wasn't consistant. My current scope on my SCAR falls into that category (Konus 1-4x24). Of course I think that scope he had runs around $2k, but it certainly worked! Very nice people with a very nice combo. EDIT: Numerous typos

Lol, I hear you. I figure the price is only going to come down on them. I may as well enjoy it.

How is this any different than the case the other day where the old man at the Internet Cafe in FLA shot the two robbers? No charges against him, and the robbers had not actually shot anyone...yet. In this case, a stabbing is occuring. Back to the Clint Eastwood quote: From "The Naked Gun" Frank: Yes. Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's my policy. Mayor: That was a Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar, you moron! You killed 5 actors! Good ones!

Ok, again, we're disagreeing on the pursuit part. According to Z, and at least some circumstantial evidence, Trayvon continued in his direction, and Z went in another to get the address for 911 while he was on the phone with them. So if that is true, there was no pursuit. We won't know until the trial, and may not know even then since it will be one's word against another's, and the "another's" won't be heard. If he DID go after him, then that is a whole other ballgame. Better to be jugded by 12 than carried by 6.
-
What does that have to do with anything? No one is disputing that...well, the media was for a while...but even they acknowledge it now.
-
Ok, so to you, getting out of your truck in your gated community equals pursuit. I see why you are confused. Not flaming...I just understand the disconnect. If he walks in a different direction than Trayvon...is it still pursuit? I don't think you have ever looked a map of the area.
-
This is incorrect. They asked if he was following, he said yes, 911 said "we don't need you to do that". That IS what they said. That is NOT the same as an order instructing you not to do so...but even if it was, you don't have to do what 911 tells you. If three armed robbers are rapiing your child in the next room, 911 will tell you NOT to go in there and stop them. When they said "we don't need you to do that", he said "ok", and according to his story, stopped pursuing. He went AWAY from Trayvon to the front of the houses so he could give the police the stree address...which the final shooting location support. When he did so, HE says Trayvon came out from between the houses at HIM! Yes, these are his words, BUT the locations described, compared with his original call and the final location, all agree. If he chased Trayvon, the event would have happend in a different location. You are backing up what I said...they were not going to prosecute until Sharpton got involved. The group of citizens that got upset where not making progress until Sharpton got involved. None of this has anything to do with race with me. As I said, I am open to new evidence, but from what we have seen so far, it looks like Trayvon jumped Zimmerman....and he had a right to if he felt threatened...just as "Z" had the right to defend himself. As for Z being out of breath, it has been stated somewhere that it wan't him breathing heavily, but rather the wind as there was a storm going on. Maybe that was just his statement, or maybe he said it on the 911 tape, which I think he did.
-
I would also point out that everytime I go to the Knoxville location it is dead as a morgue. I don't think I have ever seen more than 20 people in the whole store at once. Franly, I don't see how they stay open.

My pics are not great...camera phone. I have painted my Black 17 with some Foliage Green Krylon as an experiment. Wanted to see if I liked the color before fooling with a more durable option. I used the Krylon Flat Camo Green, which in person dries pretty closely to the Magpul Foliage grip and rail covers but in the pics they almost look FDE. Anyway, My accessories are pretty weak at this time, but they are what I have until I settle on an optic setup. The scope is a Konus 1-4X24 IR on a P.E.P.R mount. It actually works very well. Glass is good and clear, and it has held zero through 400 rounds. I also have an offset mount with a TruGlo RD sight. I think I am going with Docter or FFIII hopefully next week. I have a genuine GripPod on it, and a LaserLyte K-15 green laser. The sling is a VTAC padded in MULTICAM.

They weren't going to prosecute until there was outrage from Sharpton. I can't imagine they have the courage to throw out the charges it out over a little thing like lack of evidence.

This is where the rubber meets the road. Based on what I have gathered, I think Trayvon didn't flee. He saw someone watching him, got his gangsta on, approached him, asked if he had a problem, then commensed to stomping Z's ass. This is based entirely on speculation, just like your opinion is. But there is a lot of evidence supporting Trayvon being a gansta (either legit or wannabee). Gangsta's take any opportunity to show how bad they are.

The first should have been called "The Unwatchables".

Oh, I am certainly open to the evidence, and can be swayed with any new that comes up. I am basing my beliefs off the 911 tape, and from the eyewitness statements. There may be security tapes out there that shows it clearyly that we haven't seen yet. What we do know is that the media tried to convict Zimmerman as soon as they got ahold of this. They used pics of Trayvon when he was a 13 year old kid instead of a 17 year old HS Defensive Lineman, doctored the 911 tapes to make it sound like "Z" thought Trayvon looked suspicious only because he was black, and tried to paint "Z" as some sort of vigilante. They even had expert after expert try to convince us that "Z" called Martin a "Coon", when it was obvious to everyone but the MSM that the word he used was not that. It always sounded like "Punk" to me. NONE of the media biased is in dispute. NBC employees were fired over the doctored tapes. I have learned that when the MSM goes ape#### in support of something, I usually find that is exactly the opposite of what I believe to be best...so naturally, I expect this to be no different. Again, I don't think Trayvon was a criminal or in the wrong. As I said before, I just don't think either guy could see the other's "white hat" because of the rain and the dark.
-
There is a witness who saw Trayvon sitting on top of Zimmerman whoopin' the piss out of him. I would expect that if Zimmerman had started it there would have been no whoopin', just a shooting. I don't think Zimmerman would have tried to start #### with Martin without his hand on his gun, considering Martin was so much bigger.

The one in Knoxville had a relatively good looking dark haired girl behind the counter last week. She was nice to look at. She wasn't very interested in helping the fellow in front of me look at scopes, though.

Thanks! I had read a couple of articles on this, and may have gotten it backwards. I need to go dig those up. I have shot both out of my scar with no high pressure signs, but that may be because they were all commercial. The Federal Gold Medal 168 SMK's work great in the gun.
-
I think you have that backward.
-
Yeah, I thought Zimmerman came off well. There is no doubt in my mind that in this case, each guy thought the other was up to no good. Zimmerman thought he was watching a burglar (home invasions had happened in that very gated community) and Trayvon thought he was being stalked by someone who meant him harm. It was a tragic mistake...and I get what Zimmerman was saying about not doing things differently. It is easy to say with hindsight that he shouldn't have got out of his car...but at the time, there was no way to know that. Last thing, everyone jumps on Zimmerman and says he should have walked away...couldn't the same be said for Trayvon?

I am suprised it won't shoot 7.62 Nato...they are built from mil parts I thought. I question the validity of that.
-
Gotcha...I sure hear the term used a great deal.
-
WOW! I was not aware anyone was selling Blackout barrels for the price that Dolomite posted up. They are out of stock now, but I may snag a 16" to go with my 10".
-
Not a problem! 7.62 x 39 is a good round for hunting in the woods, and a good man-stopper for defense. It is a short/Medium range cartridge, however, mainly effective under 300 yards. The 7.62 Nato (7.62 x 51) or .308 is a medium/long range deal--and though used out to 1000 yards by trained snipers--for hunting, probably a 500-600 yard max (though many would debate if you should ever take a shot at that range from an ethical standpoint). Let me caution you on another matter regarding 7.62 x 39 and nomenclature. There is another popular 7.62 cartridge that is russian in origin, and their names may also confuse you. 7.62 x 54, which is on the same order of power as the 7.62 Nato. I have seen BOTH the 7.62 x 54 AND the 7.62 x 39 referred to as 7.62 Russian...so if you see 7.62 Russian, make sure you find out which one, because they are not at all interchangeable either. Others can confirm, but I believe the x54 is really the "Russian", but I have nonetheless seen, read, and heard others refer to x39 as it as well.
