I always warn oncoming traffic of radar ahead. You never know when someone is accidentally speeding and needs a break. Living in Bluff City the radar capital of TN I am no fan of the radar gun. We also have a speeding camera that is clearly just a revenue generator. As someone mentioned before, are they trying to slow people down or raise money.

I have had a security system for 25 years. Where we live there are no neighbors to keep an eye on the place. Several years ago I installed a camera system for even more peace of mind. I really like being able to check on things when we go out of town. Our system has always been monitored. I built a building on my property several years ago and when we installed a breaker in the panel we turned the power off to the house. A few minutes later a LEO came screaming up the driveway. It took a few minutes to convince him we were not up to no good but it was nice to know it worked as it should. This past summer we were out of town and our monitoring company called and said the alarm had gone off. I watched on my phone as LEO walked around my place. It was a false alarm but again it was good knowing it worked as it should. If you are building a house have a security company wire for the cameras and motion detectors ahead of time. You can also get 10% off your home owners insurance if they install smoke alarms and monitor for fires.

This judge is obviously a racist.

If I saw someone walking in the mall with what looked like a AR-15 on his back I would not call the LEO unless I new for sure he was doing something illegal or going to do something illegal. I do not assume because he has a weapon that he also has bad intentions. The same way I would not call LEO on someone that I noticed CCing. I may make sure I am not in harms way if something bad happens but I am not getting LEO involved just because he has a weapon.

Always were seat belts and would never consider disabling the air bags. I do not see the correlation with not taking flu shots that are someone's best guess. Getting the shot does not prevent me from getting the flu. I use more common since options like proper sanitation and taking vitamins. According to the CDC 5 to 20 % of the population get the flue each year. So I have a 80 to 95% chance of not getting the flu. I guess I have just been lucky so far. Healthline.com list the following as some possible side effects of taking the flu shot. Pain at the injection site, aches and pains, headache, fever, runny nose and sore throat, severe allergic reactions and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Umm get the shot if you want, me I will go with what has worked for the last 53 years for me. Found this on health central. Q: How effective is this year's flu vaccine expected to be, in light of last year's less than stellar results? A: The 2008-2009 flu protection is expected to be much better than last year's. Unfortunately, decisions have to be made on a very tight timeline about what strains of flu virus to include in the vaccine a year in advance of peak flu season, in order to allow time for vaccine manufacturers to make the vaccine. At best, experts have to make educated guesses about what strains of flu virus will be circulating in the coming year. Since a hallmark of flu viruses is their ability to change quickly, it's not an easy task. New strains crop up all the time. It is great to live in a free country where we can each decide what we think is best for ourselves.

I got me a Monster light for Christmas 1200 lumens. I have a Sabre-5 that I thought was brite at 500 lumens but the monster blows it away. Check this puppy out. www.wickedlasers.com/torch you can start a fire with that thing 4100 lumens.

Never had the flu shot, never had the flu. I am not sure how they can develop a shot for a strain of flu that has not been identified yet. I researched vaccinations before me kids where born and cannot see where they are worth the risk. I finally had a doc that was retiring that said most where not necessary. I think Polio was eradicated more by sanitation practices than the vaccine. You could get Polio at the local swimming pool. Once they started treating the water it became safe.

Dec. 2012 I heard of a deal Cabela's had on 223 ammo. I called and ordered 1600 rounds, no problem right. Wrong. They started sending me emails stating "sold out" "backordered". As months past they called every once in a while asking if I still wanted the ammo, that they had no time frame for it to be in. They offered other things like dry boxes and so on. I always told them no I will wait. Well I got a call saying the order was in and would be shipped. IT SHOWED UP TODAY!! 13 months later. At the advertised price of 37cents. Yeeehaa.

]Ok so what is considered the Tr-Cites? Never mind I figured it out.... Bristol area... We have spent several vacations in the NC Maggie Valley, Sylva area and just loved it, but my wife is not a big fan of the hilly twisting roads that are so common. We'll that is sort of the only way to get around and up and down the mountains. Which for us is a big attraction. Most places that have mountains the curvy hilly roads go along with them. Get ya a sports car and those roads become a lot of fun to drive on. Mountains also make great backgrounds for a gun range. That is why I can have one in my backyard. Just making lemonade out of lemons. Not wanting mountains will take a good portion of the state away as a option.

For us it was working in the church nursery. One hour with other peoples kids and that did it for us.

I have lived in the Tri-Cites for 25 years and love it. Very conservative part of the state. 15 minutes to Virginia, 30 to NC, 30 to Kentucky, NW North Carolina is some of the most beautiful land in country. This is a great place to live. Traffic is not bad unlike the perpetual road construction in Nashville and Knoxville.

The Old Testament law was an agreement between God and the Jewish people. It was never intended for Gentiles (non Jews). All the rules about eating shellfish and such were for the Jewish people. Christ did address sin with the woman at the well that had been caught in adultery.†go and sin no more† Only a very little of what Christ did and said is captured in scripture just because he is not quoted in the bible about this does not mean it is not addressed as a sin. Romans 1 24Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,25because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;27and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.32Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. Just a quick check of anatomy tells me that we were not created for same sex relationships. Two men can never reproduce and two women cannot naturally reproduce. Mostly the parts just do not fit the way they do with the opposite sex. I would agree that some folks have tendency to be attracted to the same sex. That can be caused by a variety of things. Bad experiences with the opposite sex, abuse at a young age, I even read where growing up in a female dominated home can create confusion for some, not having a father figure to help establish the example of normality. I would also ad none of the above sins are unforgiveable. There is only one unpardonable sin and homosexuality is not it.

What exactly are Christians dictating to non-believers? Are the church police going around making you go to church? Is someone making sure you pray. I know of no Christian that wants to force their views on others. What are we pushing on you? I cannot drag someone to heaven with me no more than they can drag me to hell with them.

I have already emailed A&E. They pull him, I pull them.

For some reason I cannot see this guy being exposed by a tabloid as being a big headline grabber. Also not sure being gay is considered a scandal these days. My guess is 95+% of the country do not know who he is, heck I watched the show and I can hardly remember him. Anybody that gets on the show is a good shot, winning means he is really good shot. This announcement does not change any of that.
-
I will make a deal with everyone right now. I will not talk about who or what I have sex with if you all will not tell me who or what you have sex with. I do not want to know. Still do not understand why it matters or why it is important to "come out". I'll stay in you stay in and we can talk about something else. Went out shooting yesterday got my PPQ out and sent some down range. There may or may not been someone gay there. Didn't ask. I do wonder if those making such announcements are wanting to be recognized as breaking some type of new ground. The first major whatever to come out.

Maybe canner cutter, you know the stuff they use to make Hormel beef stew.

Just a little info for those that may care. There are 3 basic grades of beef you can purchase. Prime, choice, select. Each grade has a yield grade of 1,2,or3. If it is prime or choice it will say so somewhere as the price is higher and processors want you to know if it prime or choice. A few years ago the USDA changed the grading in response to the consumer wanting leaner beef. If you think meat is not as good as it used to be you are correct. If there are no labels showing the grade it is select at best. Never, never, never buy meat off the back of a pickup. They sell it based on the number of pieces not by the pound. You end up paying way more than you should per pound. Large processors move their steers to feeder lots for the last 6 months and feed them grain( grain fed beef) the quality of grain gets better as they move through the feeder lots. The idea is to flush the grass out of the system with a diet of grain. Each steer takes the grain a little different than the next(thus the need for grading) Make sure you trust the person if you buy a half or quarter of beef. It is very easy to pull some high end cuts without anyone knowing. They should be willing to weigh the beef before and after, adding some for packaging.

Very few people know how to process any kind of meat that does not come in a box. My first job was in a old fashioned meat shop. We had saw dust on the floor and everything was cut by hand. If you wanted a ribeye steak we would have to take a front quarter break it done, bone the rib out and then cut the steak. I bet you could walk in 25 grocery stores and be hard pressed to find someone that can do that. I went to work for a wholesale meat company and I had a customer that bought a 4h beef every year and he had nobody in his 3 stores that new what to do with the quartered beef. I went up there every year and processed it for him. Don't want to do it for a living but do miss the days when meat cutting was a art.
-
I cut meat for 15 years and helped out some of my hunting buddies in processing their kills. Not a big deal about a 30 min. job once cleaned and quartered. These days finding someone even in the meat business that knows what to do with a whole carcas is hard to do. I am one of those guys that would never let someone else process a beef for me, way to particular about how things are done.

TN Parent Arrested Trying to Pick Up His Own Kids
45guy replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Once school is over walking up and picking up a child they are considered a walker. Signing the form that would allow the child to walk with the father is all he needed to do. My kids school has a similar plan. After a certain time checking them out is not a option they either get on a bus or they are a car rider or a walker. There are no other options. The over reaction of the officer was unfortunate but both parties could have done better. The power LE has to make ones life miserable is often abused. -
Foruntly the extreme these cops went to is unusual but the attitude of get something on their target at all cost is fairly common. Emotions get out of control and the cop code keeps cooler heads from stepping in. When cops will not police themselves (the code) then the power becomes out of control. My experience has been that cops will lie for each other and tell any lie for a conviction, so whose to stop them from doing whatever they want.

Lowbuster, not sure anyone here is saying everyone that receives assistance is a leach but saying the abuse is not widespread is not accurate either. I spent many years in the grocery business and saw many questionable circumstances involving what used to be food stamps now EBT cards. Things like people selling the stamps, buying a banana just to get the change. I have seen folks with 2 shopping carts,1 for the EBT and 1 for the cash purchases. The things they had in the cash buggy made one wonder if they really needed help at all. As a member of a charitable organization that try's to help those in need I can tell you this 8 out of 10 calls from people needing help that I looked into did not really need more money. I have story after story of people that contacted us that lived better than I did. They spent the limited funds they had coming in on things they could not get someone to give them and then asked for help on things like the electric bill or groceries. I cannot count the times folks called and asked for money to buy food and when we offered to meet them at the store and buy them something they did not show up. The problem is how do you identify those that just need a temporary hand up from those that have decided to take advantage of the the systems? Do you give to everybody just to make sure those that really need help get some or do you make it more difficult to get help and miss some of those that really need it? As the parent of a special needs child we have been offered "free services" over the years. I could not accept these because we can afford to pay for them, but that was not a concern to those that were offering. As one lady put it when I questioned her about this " we'll get you qualified". The folks here probably have many of the same experiences as I have. We are not calling everybody that needs help a leach but this country has raised up a generation of people that have no desire to be a productive member of society but live off the backs of others. I hope you continue to get better.
