Speaking of less expensive .45s, I think the Kahr CT45 qualifies. Just ran 2 clips of round-nose lead and one rd. of Silvertip. No cycling problems. Quite a bit of muzzle rise. Not a double tap machine in my one or two hands. The one area I plan to improve is the addition of a rubber grip cover. The polymer grip is hatched with some pretty sharp edges. And the circumference is a tad small for my liking. Ordered Pachmayr and Hogue grips 2 days ago. The accompanying Manual still suggests 200 rds before reliability is established but 2 reviews have countered that argument. This is my first Kahr and I'm really liking the smooth trigger action and the curve design of the trigger. And the fact that it's spittin' the first few without hang-ups is a bonus.

I'm not questioning what they put out today. And the .445 was manufactured by Wesson Arms which I believe was created after Dan Wessons departure. The design of the muzzle break/port was a problem with that Gun as well. Required dis assembly and cleaning after every handful of rounds. I have taken note of the overwhelmingly favorable comments towards their 1911s and at this point would not hesitate to buy IF I were in need of another 1911. I don't recalled any other specific weapon with such one-sided reports.

This comment I have to respectfully disagree. Sometime in the 80's I had to return a brand new .445 to the factory for cylinder alignment problems. It was fixed and returned in a couple of weeks as I remember. Also, a friends .357 with multiple barrels demonstrated timing issues and was shaving lead. Long time ago and probably not even the same company now. Just my $.02.

Excellent. Will try. Thanks.

Fleeing Yankee Nashville Bound

Welcome from Williamson Co. We know you'd tried to get here as soon as ya could! -
On that very topic; has anyone visited the Green Dragon in Fairview? No it's not Chinese takeout! Appears to be classic small-town Firearms Emporium. But the hours look a bit restrictive. 5 -8 PM Mon-Thurs. 6-9 on Fri. and I couldn't see Sat hrs due to storm-door.

Well, I tell ya what I really need is good half-load data. Try to make this thing more pleasurable to plinking.

But the "prize" continues to be given annually to ...................... Ducati!

I got a ticket and missed my court date! Freaking out a little!

I would guess you are quite safe due to the massive backlog of paperwork in the court system and the low level offense is not likely to be a priority with anyone in power. -
Spyderco Knives Let's See Yours
HvBikeWlTravel replied to DAdams's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
This thread reminded me. I have what I suspect is one of the early Spyderco's. Plastic clip and serrated 3.25" blade. Will probably post in Classified. -
I had just started searching for Holster options. I will visit my local leather shop tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.

Why are the little .327 Mags so expensive?
HvBikeWlTravel replied to HvBikeWlTravel's topic in Handguns
Yes, I agree there would be place in my arsenal as well...............................................IF the darn revolvers weren't listed on GunBroker for $3-500 more than the same framed .357. -
Why are the little .327 Mags so expensive?
HvBikeWlTravel replied to HvBikeWlTravel's topic in Handguns
Only when it comes to the 327. -
Intriguing little cartridge but not as versatile as the .357. And if you do buy then you havta add dies, cases, and bullets to the mix to shoot "economically". IF I ever run into a "deal" where I get most everything I need for reloading, with the gun. Then I might pull the trigger.

Nice! Who did that for you?

Excellent information gentlemen. I built 2 Models of the P-51 in my early youth. The 4 bladed Prop always indicated the superior amount of power that engine could produce over predecessors and ME-109s and Focke-Wulfs. How many cylinders was the Merlin engine?

Welcome, and I wish you had some influence on the making of some of these action movies. We would "bend your ear".

Wow! Do you have any detail as to the circumstance surrounding loss of FFL?
-
Well, I've got a bunch of 200 grs. to shoot up in something. Part of the reason I bought this gun. I might mention I'm not a fan of the original " ribber" grips. All replaced with Hogue finger grooved. The ribbed grips probably do reduced felt recoil, but they also shift the gun in my hand after 2-3 shots. I'll save the heavy lead for the Magnum cases.

Mine is the 445 UL model. 2.2" barrel. I've had a 41 Mag. SS 4" Tracker from when they first came out. And about 2 years ago I bought a .40 S&W Blued Steel Frame. I don't think they list those as options anymore. Have you noticed any loosening of the cylinder with that Magnum?
-
I can well understand the prolific rise in popularity of the alloy and polymer frame carry guns. But for most of my life I opted for steel when given the choice, mostly due to the effects of recoil. Heavy just feels better when you have to squeeze the trigger. Well, recently I kinda forgot that little fact and ended up with a 5-shot Taurus Snub-nose Revolver chambered for .44 Spec. It's listed as an Ultra-Lite. Even with moderate 200 gr. lead loads it feels and sounds like your dropping the hammer on a Magnum case. It is fun........... in small doses. Bottom line; great for carry but I hope I never havta squeeze the trigger without ear plugs.

In an attempt to answer why most ".22" caliber ammo holds a .224 diameter bullet, I'll go out on a limb and say costs and availability. Why design a cartridge and the corresponding barrel that require new casting dies and tooling? But evidently the creator of the .22 Savage High Power didn't get my E-Mail. :squint:

Yes, I as well have had difficulties with both FedEx and UPS. One with live ammo and once with a Firearm. But today's little encounter was really quite uneventful. Dropped off box at a Goin' Postal franchise in Fairview. That little shipping label does wonders. And I even found a wadded-up dollar bill on the way back to the car. Could this day get any better? :woohoo:

Thanks, and yes I am starting realize the full benefit of that little prepaid sheet of paper.

P-51 on bottom? Nose looks a little different. 4 props, thick straight wings, bubble canopy. Is this a scaled down replica?
