  1. I've NEVER understood the shotgun preference for HOME defense. Maybe I don't have a big enough house, but the 12 ga pump is only useful to me when I exit the house. I always sleep with at least a 9mm or better near the bed. I recently mounted a tactical light to the 12 ga, and that makes it much more effective at night.........OUTSIDE! But to get thru a house with doors and walls and various other obstacles, I move much quicker with one handgun and one tactical flashlight . And I've done enough tests with 12 and 20s to know the "SPREAD" at minimal distances is no guarantee you'll hit a moving target while you whole body is exposed to whatever caliber handgun might be aimed at your. How many Criminals carry shotguns to commit a armed break-in. I'm sure there have been a few, BUT Criminals are stupid! They do most anything! 'Cause their stupid!
  2. I gleaned one bit of critical information from the pair I "met", at least from MY perspective; they were both from California......................and they didn't seem all that happy to be in TN. So maybe things worked out the best for both. Certainly doesn't hurt my feelin'!
  3. Very predictable. I went in there about 2 months ago. 2 guys engrossed in an online sale. Never bothered to ask if they could help me, or find out what I was interested in. Too many options for me to waste any more time there.
  4. N   R     E   E      o      H   R                                                                                          !
  5. OK, I'm intrigued!  What was Mr Military's reply to that suggestion?
  6. You have a valid point! And it appears to me  government services have gotten worse and less frequent as budgets shrink.
  7. What cartridge are you working with?
  8.   I appreciate that report. My time was more productive driving 2hrs to buy a hunting rifle at a much better deal than likely on any of those tables.
  9. New Model Blackhawk...................STOLEN!(40 yrs ago) Next 25+/- .....................................Sold or Traded. Walther PP(30 yrs ago).................Still got it! Next 45-50.....................................Still got some of 'em! Wish I still had 2 of the XPs. 7mm BRs.  Hint, hint! If somebody wants to sell me one!!!!!! :squint:     7/23/13: Just found the Sales Tag to that Blackhawk. $99.97   Shoulda bought 2!
  10.   It's a fine line isn't it? Haslam's got money. Do you trust him?  Sunquist had money. Would anybody vote him back in office?  All the honest citizens with common sense are too smart(and too busy makin' a livin')  to jump into the kind of dirty politics we have around here. Very disgusting. And I'm all for rotating in a whole new batch. Could NOT do worse!
  11.   What he said!  ^ I didn't much care for the number of people in such a confined space. Can't see half of whats on the tables unless you like to wait for the crowds to move forward a few feet. I imagine it could get quite warm in those 2 buildings as well. Does anyone know the Admission Price to this Gala affair?
  12. on the Lee equipment in general. Have a 3-die press(28 years) and a single stage mounted on a small metal roll-around so I can load will watching TV or socializing. Auto-primer has survived longer than I ever expected when I purchased.
  13. I would appreciate some first-hand experience with Pistol Scopes mounted on any of the Super Mag Revolvers. Any outright failures? Most likely looking for FIXED 3 power to 5 power.
  14. My experience from 25 years ago; compared a $300 Nikon to a $350 Leopold at 150 yds+/- looking at an old barn. With the Nikon 3x9 I could clearly see grain in wood planks that were undetectable with the 3x9 Leopold. Visual winner Nikon! Now which would hold up in in-climate weather and take the most recoil from a magnum caliber; your guess may be better than mine. I had 2 Burris Pistol Scopes that held up quite well on 7mm BR XPs.   And I've got a Tasco World-Class that's been on a VGL .308 and a 788 7-08. Still clear and functioning 20+ years later on a Win. model 59!  Yes that's a .22.          L.R.!
  15. Would the Walther P-22 be a more reliable choice? I put my hands on one at a Gun Show and can't quite shake the urge to buy.     I might add, I'm a Sig fan. The ones I have work great. But I guess every manufacturer can have a dud.
  16.   WOW!      What an indictment.
  17. Sadly, IF you run them outta the current business, they just open up somewhere's else and practice their incompetence(more like don't giva s***) on other unsuspecting customers. Sorry you had to deal with that level of aggravation.
  18.   Big Boy Rules? Don't you mean GOVERNMENT Rules?
  19.   +1            Amazing how quickly mindsets can be changed when Permits introduced into Law. Now everybody without a Permit is a Criminal if they carry????
  20. Fast growing, busy i.e. getting too crowded for my tastes but certainly better than closer to Nashville IMHO. Cost of living probably lower and certainly closer to less populated areas like Hickman and Houston Co. I live south of Dickson near Bon Aqua. Come to think of it, too crowded out here as well!
  21. My limited experience with AA#9 says definitely use Magnum Primers. I never got complete burn with several 41, 44, and 445 loads.  Still at least 1/2 lb. sitting in my basement. Might be good for fireworks!   Update; I noticed a note on the AA#9 Container. Not for use with my Lee Pistol Powder Dropper.  Too fine.
  22. This is an interesting read. NPR(yes that's right!) covered this subject several months ago. And last meal requests  as well.
  23. It is sad ....... and maddening, the carelessness. But I think most realize when it comes to Kids, it only takes a few seconds of distraction or forgetfulness for tragedy to strike.  More Guns, more Cars, more drug-influenced individuals equals a much more dangerous World, especially for Kids.
  24. Yep. That's where I developed interest in putting my hands on one.
