  1. Thanks for the honest review. It's never a bad idea to be a late adopter of a new Ruger handgun. Let someone else be the beta tester and by yours after the recall is over. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  2. The standard mag release was a big factor for me. Every gun I buy is bought with an eye towards practical self defence use. I have hundreds of thousands of repetitions on a standard mag release. I see no reason to muddy those waters. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  3. A little over a year ago , I saw a PPQ M2 Navy edition at Dave's shooting supply in Red Bank ( the one near Subway on Dayton Boulevard. Not the one where Darr's used to be that had the no loaded guns sign on the door and where I refused to spend a dime) After shooting both, I went with the PPQ. I actually wanted to like the VP9 better because I like the idea of an inexpensive H&K. I shot them side by side at Bud's in Sevierville and, for me, the PPQ felt better in hand and the trigger was quite a bit better. The PPQ Navy was still in stock at Daves when I got back to town and I bought it immediately. It is hands down my favorite handgun all things considered. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  4. A top drawer .308 AR and matching glass is my only serious plan. A DD if I can. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  5. Give it back to them under warranty and buy a Bravo Company rifle. For the same price you'll get a first rate carbine built right. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  6. I'd go Glock 19 vs SR9c. I'd go S&W Shield 9mm vs G27. I would not consider a 40 for civilian carry. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  7. I've been a member of Hixson Shooter's Supply indoor range for about 15 years. yesterday, I stopped by for the first time in about a month to find the place stripped to the walls and some folks I had never seen before working on a remodel. Everybody seemed friendly enough, and the new owner honored my membership card. Unfortunately, I had been shooting for about 20 minutes when I was summarily run out of the range buy a couple of electricians who had no ear protection. Does anyone know anything about the plans for the new facility? I was mighty surprised to have not heard anything at all about the upcoming change from the previous owner Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  8. For the Chattanooga area, I agree with the recommendations for GT's - especially for long guns and Glocks (if you qualify for LE sales $398.00 w/ 3mags). I would add G&N Gun and Pawn on Lee Hwy. They have surprised me with their S&W availability and pricing on hot, new items like the M&P 15-22 when it was new. I'm not a big fan of the box stores, but Sportsman's Warehouse has gotten my business several times. Gotta keep an eye out for sales and arrive early.
  9. Isn't it great to have all those excellent options?! One thing though - I recently attended a Sig factory LE Armorer's course. Several LE agencies were represented, and the instructor was trying to determine which models to concentrate on to best represent different slide configurations, extractor types, etc. Anyway, he held up a Sig Pro and asked "Does anyone's Department issue this piece of ####?" No one responded. He stuck it back in the box, saying "Good!" This was a Sig master armorer instructor, so that really stuck with me.
  10. Thanks for the welcome, everyone. Hope all you fellow Chattanoogans are enjoying this beautiful weekend.
  11. Hi all! I'm a 50 year-old father, grandfather, husband and conservative libertarian gun nut. I love em all, but particularly like evil black rifles, semi-auto handguns, and rifles capable of altering physical conditions with great precision at enormous distances. I also have rarely met the 22 I didn't like. Lever guns and single action Rugers. too. Oh - and defensive shotguns of any kind. Crap! I've got it bad, huh? Aside from guns, I ride motorcycles, paddle canoes and kayaks, weight train, ride bicycles, read alot, and like to cook ('cause I don't like to clean). Glad to be here; hope to find some interesting conversation. Bill O. Reitz, II
