  1. Come on guy, don't sugar coat it, tell us what you really think! Your attitude and course of action is exactly the same as mine. I can find other places to eat! Most of these places don't serve chicken fried steak with bulldog gravy anyways.

ya buddy on the Fried steak and gravy but then I got the little lady askin cant we try somethin different, have only had the hcp a few months now and she is already checkin for signs for me or us :D gotta luv em :P

  2. That gun came with one of two finishes, bluing and nickel. I would definitely put one of those two on it. The paperwork form a the factory will show that it left Colt as a blued gun.

There aren't many I would trust with the gun, Colt and Ford's would be two high on my list.

Fords? Blueing isnt as expensive as I thought but I sure like the looks of the nickel, am sure will be more $$but oh well.

Just a note on the guns getting surface rust in the safe. Go to the local hobby store and get a bag of silica gel. It's used to preserve flowers and other plants, somehow. I'm not real clear on how all that works, but I do know they have it and it's cheap. A couple of bucks for a pound bag. Take it home and put it in a cloth container that can breath. An old sock, a t shirt sealed up, etc. It's the exact same thing as the desiccant packs you can buy at gun shows, and will absorb moisture, only a lot cheaper. Likewise, I've also heard good things about the Golden Rod dehumidifier systems, though I don't know much about them.

Thanks for the info fordguy, couldnt believe how fast I got light surface rust in there. didnt think it was damp but it sure seems alot warmer than the old wood cabinet.

  3. I plan on having professionally refinished which is part of why I went ahead and bought it so he wouldnt refinish cheap and quick just to make an extra $100, that and a good price, but it will be a few weeks before I could afford (depending on the price) to do this, if I have to lclean it everyday is just what I will do. It is still a tight shootable gun with good groves in the barrel, well worth refinishing.

  4. I worked out a deal with my friend and I am buying the gun to refinish myself, I figure I will use the 0000 steel wool to clean it up but I cant afford to reblue the way I would like for now so if I keep it oiled down would that not work for the raw material or does anyone know of something else to use, I have only had my safe a few months and had some surface rust on a few of my rifles so I keep them oiled frequently, that dang rust crap is like cancer.

  5. Rebluing is the only thing that is going to fix that. Other option is use some fine brass wool and oil, take off what you can and then just shoot it.

    Expensive booboo!

Pretty much what I told him after the tongue thrashing, was going to sell though, is the cabelas blueing kit worth doing, I mean does it look decent.

  6. This is a colt 38 sp of a friends who left it in his car that I am trying to clean up, we really didnt want to reblue it but is there anything that will get the discoloring off and it has some rough spots, doesnt seem to be pitted but was totally neglected, I used wd40, leveraction cleaner and hops #9, not sure what else to use other than copper brush or sand papper (ouch)

  7. (Finally, it appears that WMA's are still not valid for carry per:

"AMENDMENT #3 removes authorization for any person possessing a valid handgun carry permit to possess a handgun within or on a wildlife management area.")

Does it not say that it allows for municipalities or counties to decide for wma's?

  8. Just received this in the email from the tfa alert. Hope its true!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tennessee Firearms Association, Inc.

    Legislative Action Committee

We have not seen the document yet, but we are receiving reports that the Governor has signed the HB0716, the parks bill. It is reported that he will likely encourage ALL local governments to opt-out. Clearly, doing so and them following through with it will lay the foundation for efforts next year to repeal that portion of the law in order to open all local parks state wide under the exercise of state pre-emption.

We have no word at this time regarding the status of other firearms bills that have been sent to the governor.

The result is that the fight for firearms rights now becomes a local issue. Nashville, for example, as the proposed bill to close Davidson County parks already on the calendar for Tuesday, June 16. We will need to be preparing to fight these battles in local legislative bodies statewide.

Hope this is true also, this has been frustrating. Nothing will stop memfrica from banning parks but I like the state parks east of them...

  9. Have been seriously thinking about it, even pricing equipment, but waiting on warmer weather to clean the garage out also a few other priorities like a safe first, but as hard as it is becoming to find ammo I think it just got a bit higher on priorities list, Thanks for the replies.

  10. I did think I had posted on here before, but has been so long ago tho I guess they started me new. so hello again, Thanks, Scott
