  1. Seems like most if not all of these jobs have several things in common.....a can do attitude, attention to detail and a devotion of some sort whether it be family, duty or country. Just what I'd expect from a bunch of guys on a gun forum.
  2. Rehab is tough....it really hinders productivity. Take care of yourself and soon you;l be able to pretty much whatever you want within reason. Truth be told it was during rehab I watched darn near every you tube video on knife making and one day I figured "I can do that". My point is you tube can be your friend. Like bushcraft...it's there. Like gold prospecting...it's there. Try it out...search for something that may interest you and before you know it there may be 20 things you're watching on you tube. It's a lot more interesting that TV....at least for me.
  3. Originally from Philly and joined the AF in 68. Two tours in Viet Nam and other stops in Germany, England, Turkey, New Mexico and Arizona (3 times). Retired CMSGT (26 years) from the AF. Then worked for about 20 years as an interior trim carpenter doing everything from crown to custom staircases. Had a heart attack in 08 and received a quad bypass and said the hell with working after that. The missus went back into the AF after 9/11 so we traveled from Montgomery to Tucson until she retired as a SMGT. Came back to Tennessee and mess around with guns and knives and and try to keep up the daily chores around the house.
  4. Awesome...I'm so glad you like them.
  5. Sweet....nice work.
  6. Welcome to TGO.
  7. That mulching mower is really paying you dividends isn't it?
  8. These are all made from the same blank. Amazing how different you can make the same blade look. Same size....optical illusion I guess with the bottom one being closest to the camera. All are 1095 carbon steel and the blade blank started the same. The OAL is 10' and blade length is 5". The one with the "rock" pattern is a bit heavier in that it's made from 3/16" thick steel. The other two are made from 5/32" thick steel. The IPE handled one with the OD Green and black G10 accents has the handle bobbed in the back a bit to make the look slightly different. They all have thumb jimping and lanyard hoe. From the top the rock pattern has Orange Agate handles with white liners and white and black accents. The middle one has Burmese Blackwood handles red G10 liners and red and white accents. The last one has IPE handles with OD G10 liners and black accents. I did bob the back of the handle a bit to give it a different look. I forgot to add the red/white accented blade had copper/brass and SS mosaic pins...the green and black accented one has SS mosaic pins and the Orange Agate handled one has brass pins.
  9. The current crop of "movie stars" doesn't get me to the movies much anymore. A movie has to be something that should be seen on a big screen and full of action to make me consider going.
  10. Welcome to TGO.
  11. Welcome to TGO.
  12. Cool stuff...but kinda expensive. I do have some ammo cans though......hmmm...
  13. Welcome to TGO.
  14. Welcome to TGO.
  15. I can imagine a sane person going nuts eventually living out there and not just because of gun laws. Welcome to TGO.
  16. Well that's exciting....a least it stops law abiding citizens from becoming criminals for a little while longer. I'm sure that's some kind of micro aggression to the left though.
  17. I'l bet he thinks twice before he tries that again.
  18. http://www.fox9.com/news/264375166-story Around 6:30 p.m. Monday night, Norman County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 500 block of U.S. Highway 75 on a report of a shooting. Live-saving efforts were made and a medical helicopter was called, but 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene. Ruiz’s girlfriend, 19-year-old Monalisa Perez, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter. According to the criminal complaint, Perez said Ruiz wanted to make a YouTube video of her shooting into a book held to his chest, and he believed the book would stop the bullet. Ruiz convinced Perez to participate in the stunt by showing her a different book he had shot, and the bullet did not go all the way through. Perez told investigators she fired a 50 caliber handgun from about one foot away while Ruiz held the book to his chest. The book did not stop the bullet, and Ruiz was killed by a single gunshot wound to his chest. Read more.
  19. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/06/28/teachers-packing-heat-more-educators-taking-gun-training-classes.html Things that make the left cry..... Teachers across the country are moving to the head of the class when it comes to learning how to use a gun. With mass shootings seemingly becoming common place in classrooms across the country, teachers are learning how fire grade-A shots and starting to carry weapons in class. It’s an attempt to better protect their students and prevent the next Sandy Hook Elementary School or Columbine High School shooting. Nearly a third of the country, a total of 18 states, allows adults to carry a loaded gun on school grounds, with certain permissions. But ever since the Sandy Hook shootings in 2012, in which 20 children and six adults were shot dead, some states have pushed for safety training initiatives for teachers to learn how to properly fire a weapon and prevent any threats to the classroom. 20. Most folks bring their own carpet remnant or pad with them when they know they are going to shoot on those. They make a very nice platform for shooting. Some ranges I've been to even hand out a nice carpet pad when you sign in for shooting.
  21. Well since you asked......about 10 years ago or so while I was at work the missus hears some noises coming from the back porch about 8AM. She grabs her 9mm and cautiously eases her way to the back of the house to get a better view. Though the french doors she sees this black dude complete with baggy pants and a hoodie rummaging around the porch carrying a knife. Well never bring a knife to a gunfight. The wife is retired military and an ex cop so after she's sure this dipstick is alone she eases back to the door and pulls the sheers back a bit and taps on the glass . This egghead turns around...sees the gun and his eyes get as big as saucers. To add insult to injury he does a 180 and center punches one of the 6x6 porch posts with his noggin and knocked his idiot self out cold. The wife calls 911 and the rest is history. I've never had any problems with anyone that even remotely fits the bill to the ugly mug I see in the mirror. Only Blacks (twice) and Mexicans once in Arizona that broke into my car so I'm not sure what point you were trying to make.
