Carbine length stock over pistol length gas system?
TrickyNicky replied to TrickyNicky's topic in Long Guns
I had a similar thought late last year when I was doing my first round of how/why does an ar work research. I had figured that with two adjustable blocks, one could in theory dial in the timing to perfection for any given load. I guess there are no new ideas except old forgotten ones. It would be interesting to mess with a design like that, for someone like me who is still learning and likes to know as much "useless" information as possible, it would be down right educational. Smarter people could probably figure out in their heads how everything would work together, me I have to actually try stuff and see for myself how things work. -
Carbine length stock over pistol length gas system?
TrickyNicky replied to TrickyNicky's topic in Long Guns
I think you mostly get it TMF, there will be two gas blocks on this rifle, one low profile under the handguard, and another acting as a sight further up the barrel to use as a sight. Also might help clear things up to know this is going to be a 16" barrel. The whole point is that I want to build an "evil twin" in 300 blk that matches my favorite ar only with FDE furniture instead of black. Then I'll get FDE mags or maybe just paint some that I've already got, then I'll have color coordinated weaponry  Thanks a bunch Dolomite, now comes the fun part, emailing vendors to make sure there will be compatability. Still haven't ruled out having a barrel made by Ron Williams, seems his work is pretty popular. -
Aside from going free float, has any one seen this done with regular M4 furniture or MOE? Tried googling it and didn't see anything definitive. I'm wondering if heat off the block under the guard would be too much for the polymer, there is a heat shield though so I don't know. Also not sure if the pressure of the handguard itself would be enough to keep the little doohickey that holds it together snug against the sight, or does that doohickey need to be sandwiched between the sight and the part of the barrel it usually rests against? I think I can make it work by having a barrel turned with a .0936 diameter at the block and a smaller diameter doohickey stop at the appropriate length. I haven't ruled out the possibility of a custom barrel either way so its just more food for thought.

Does WW11 Captured Handgun Original Paperwork Add Value, Desireability
TrickyNicky replied to oldogy's topic in General Chat
Oh and yes to both, in some cases up to double the amount to the right buyer, maybe more. -

Holy sh*t, I missed WWIII-WWIX!!?? -
Go check out Franklin Gun Shop, if you want to see a lot in one place. Go to Nashville Armory, Guns and Leather or D&T if you want to buy something from a business that values their customers IMO. Much better pricing than FGS too. I'm sure there are others I've forgotten in the Nashville area but those are the best ones IMO. Oh, everything weapons in Franklin/brentwood is pretty ok. I've only been there twice, had one good trip and one just so so. They're still pretty new though. I just get the impression I'm not tactical enough for them to take me seriously until the debit card comes out. Oh the stamp thing, you'll get used to it, I just try to buy bigger boxes when I can. It's the same .10 for a 20round box as it is for a 440 round spam can. I'm not sure on not having it, I've got boxes that have no stamp that I've bought out of state, never really thought about it much. I think your supposed to have them to sell ammo though, like a tax stamp on a pack of smokes. Not sure if the burden falls on the seller or the buyer or both.

KeyMod AR Rails - Love em or Hate em
TrickyNicky replied to DangerDanJD's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I'm still weighing them out in my mind. On one hand they do reduce rail weight by eliminating them altogether, on the other hand there's not that much savings to be had in that regard for what I want on my rifles which is as little as possible. For me I think they're a take it or leave it kind of thing. I might have one on a rifle, but it would be based more on cost, weight, how it fits my hand or even how I think it might, and honestly looks than any real opinion on whether or not they're a "good idea". For what I do with guns, I can't see it being a big difference either way. -

I love that last pic  he looks like such a little tough guy! I'm glad for all of you that he made his way into your lives. -
<SIGH> Maybe one day. Good score!

FWIW, I haven't seen anyone attack you, some have disagreed, some have set you straight on a matter, but no attacks. Some of the older guys here don't exactly mince words and it can come off as abrasive if you look at it as such. I just figure with limited time left on the world they can't afford to spend it hemming and hawing. ;) pretty smart when you think about it, who knows how much time any of us has got left... Maybe we should all start getting right to the point. I always figure (especially with them being right more often than not) to take it as their character and just appreciate knowing more after the conversation than you did before. Of course, you might be an old guy too in which case disregard the above. Anyway, more to the point, some people appreciate the heads up on the ammo. :)

I might trick out my 10/22 one of these days. If so I think I'd like something along those lines. I'm sure even I could hit a bullseye or two with a barrel that reaches half way across the range. :D Might be I go tacticool with it, or just leave it stock. Figured I'd have figured it out by now but still have no idea. Too many good choices.

Thank you for your service and welcome to TN and TGO! :USA:

I use a cream cheese based pimento cheese in my case-a-dee-as along with a little shredded cheese and salsa. I've used it on sandwiches but never a fried cheese sandwich. I'm sure it will be fantastic. Post pics.

Following. Need to build my mom a lightweight one of these days. ;)

I will if they put out something I want at a price I can afford. Doubt I'll buy one just because, but then again, maybe. I'm pretty fickle when it comes to this kind of stuff, I don't often save money for anything in particular, I save some hobby money up and if I see something I want and can afford it, I buy it. If not I just keep saving and the budget opens up to bigger better toys. I may be abit more open to a new Berreta today than I was yesterday though. ;)

No Facebook here, did he call???!!!???

Like others I can't watch a whole video. I mean, I've done it but it was really more of a test of my own resolve to finish it. I feel like I get all the opinion I want from Jeff at gunblast in a fraction of the time. If I ever am in the mood to watch a longer video I watch hickock45. Not as much techie info, but he knows how to get to the point and is entertaining as well. I don't hate him but I do  whenever he comes up.

By the way, congrats on getting 2 solos with Billy F Gibons! I've heard he is an all around cool guy if not a little nutty, and really still loves jamming out. Guess he liked what he heard! Hope it leads to more.

Yeah but fame has some convinced that this isn't so. You can usually see those guys coming by watching out for the swarm of flys hovering around. The more "hangers on", the more likely that the celeb in question has recently crapped their britches and no one has the gumption to lean over and whisper "hey! You crapped yourself again". Then there are mega celebs like what's her face Cyrus, I do believe that if someone were to sell her crapped up britches they'd collect a premium. Most I've met have been down to earth kind of folks. Mostly you didn't know they were famous until later.

I'll watch it tonight when I get home. Sounds like a good watch. -
Even if you did have to buy a new upper block that's still a good price. I've got about as much in my torque and AR wrenches alone. Looks like they're decent tools, if you haven't got any yet I'd jump on it.
