If I buy an upper without the barrel, I can stick the longer barrel in it right?
Sure can. That's what I did. Spent about 100-200 a month until it was built.
I picked up two more lowers and I am building a carbine, a rifle for myself and a buddy wants me to build him a carbine.
Not the same buddy who blows holes through your walls or has Floridian friends inclined to drunkenly plow into your vehicle I hope. ;)
I am really enjoying building rifles for some strange reason.
Because it's fun. :)

I've got more rimfire guns than anything. I'd be into it, I don't guess we really need it, but it would be handy.

If you can wait a few weeks it is likely that they'll have what you want on sale. Like Oh Shoot said though, jump on it once you see it in stock. I've had items sell out while sitting in my cart while I shopped around more to pad out the order for shipping. Other than that if you want a rifle for cheap watch the classifieds here or build one. I built the rifle on the left and have about $600 into the upper not including BCG, charging handle or optics. You could build one cheaper, this one has pretty much exactly what I wanted on it and it turns out what I wanted wasn't cheap. Of course in the AR world it wasn't really expensive either.

Ninth Circuit strikes down CA "May Issue"!
TrickyNicky replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Central CA is relatively conservative as well. Actually small pockets of sanity all over the state. If San Francisco, Sacremento and Los Angeles would get their crap in a pile CA might actually be a nice place to live again. I really can't say how happy I am for the gun lovers in CA, now if they can just get back to standard capacity magazines and ditch the bullet buttons they'll be I pretty good shape. Of course, ultimately the state registration should be the next thing to address IMO. Then the waiting period... Still much to be done. Again I'm just thrilled for a pro-2nd ruling from my old home state. -
What cracks me up is I thought we were supposed to stop labeling people. For the children.

We'd need a time machine for him to "die to young". I kid. :D he's a stupid little git, but he's also young enough that he may turn himself around, of course he'll have to stop listening to everyone telling him how great he is first.

I say piece it out. I've bought an upper pre assembled, I've built one from parts I've selected, and I've built another one from "spare parts". While I'm still a big fan of my PSA upper, if this is to be your one and only, IMO you're better off taking your time and cherry picking the exact components you want. I doubt I will build my TGO set anytime soon as I'm still not 100% on what I want from it, I do know it won't be economical. If these were run if the mill components I'd say go for a kit for sure, but they're not, spend the extra and build something with a high level of quality, you won't regret it if you ever have to sell, and surely not if it stays with you. If you need tools, I'm sure a local member can help, if not I'll mail you most of what you need.

Has PSA hired in the packaging/shipping department?
TrickyNicky replied to KKing's topic in General Chat
I placed an order with them around Black Friday for some uppers and LPK, ammo and BCG. Got it within 2 weeks. Ordered one of their lower build kits and a SPARC/lower reciever combo on 01/01/14. Took I think 3weeks to ship and they'd sent me a strike fire instead of the SPARC. After a bit of runaround with CS they sent the right optic, took 3 days to ship from the time I got the shipping notification. Ordered from them a few other times with misc results, the complete upper took the longest to ship at almost a month. All in all, like has been said, if you need it fast order somewhere else. If you need it cheap, PSA is tough to beat. I'll shop with them some more, really hard to beat a complete upper for less than one can be built often. Plus those FN barrels really are awesome for the money. -
I've got a bunch of parts in my midway and Brownells carts! Does that count? Seriously, I want one bad but I think I should wait until I'm setup for reloading first. The premade ammo is expensive and hard to find still. Once I'm crankin out ammo of my own I can't see one good reason not to have a 300. Except its not built yet and its already making me want to send ATF $200 to quiet it down.

CA wins, er loses, or whatever. They have the bullet button. Their rifles LOOK like the real deal (these days) but are about as "tacticle" as an old SA revolver when it comes time for the reload. I'd rather carry a few less rounds and be able to swap mags quick on a fugly rifle than have to mess with a detachable button. Actually, I'd rather be here and not have to worry about my magazine size offending anyone. :)

Wish it weren't so but I'd rather see 100,000,000 of these in NY and know that the libs are still messing themselves than have none up there and have the fart sniffers sitting around in a cloud of smug satisfaction. And farts.

<sigh> we were just talking about this at work. Our grandparents got Shirley Temple, we get Honey Bo Bo.

My mother left me an inheritance, it isnt guns, money or Gold
TrickyNicky replied to a topic in General Chat
So sorry for your loss. I have to admit, reading your post on the other thread last night my eyes were watering after the first paragraph. By the end of the third paragraph there were a few tears down in my beard. Thank you for sharing a brief insight into the person your mother was. Clearly she was very special. I'm glad you had the opportunity to take her out for a few more vacations, it sounds like seeing Tennessee and being with her son were highlights for her. May she rest in peace, and may you and yours feel comfort in this time. -
What cracks me up is when guys won't spend a few dollars more for the match ammo, but they'll spend damn near as much on an overpriced bulk pack. I think some see the words "value pack" and just assume it is, regardless of price.

Shit bro, that's no good. Thoughts coming you alls way for sure. Wish I had an extra car, you all could have it till you fixed yours.

Young people are idiots. I've never understood why (in my experience) its always the trust fund type kids who have this infatuation with communism. It's nothing but ignorance and looking for shock value so mommy and daddy will pay attention to them.

I tend to doubt common sense had anything to do with it. Somehow this was infurnced by nothing but $$$.

Good for "tourism" too. Give me more reason to go down there anyway. I try for once every 4-6 months, wouldn't mind stopping by more often.

Has Anyone Used Guntec USA Free Float Handguards -308?
TrickyNicky replied to lshel's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I'd never heard of them, seems like some good options for a good price. I might try one out on a budget build in working in for my brother. I've already got a tube for it, but for the money it would be nice to upgrade. -
Beautiful. Much nicer than the 91/30 I was picturing from the thread title. Great score for your first C&R!
