  1. Capes are lame. Make mine a cloak please. With built in retractable sash and a badge the size of a dinner plate, that way it can double as body armor.
  2. Their stuff is great for the home hobbiest and some are even suitable for "real" work too. I love the place. Used to have some if their bench tools, grinder, sander, the like. Came time to move and I could fit everything else in my car except them so I left them with a friend when he bought my bandsaw and some other big stuff. It was cheaper to replace them than it was to move them 1700 miles. Still haven't replaced them, haven't had the need and haven't had the time to use them for my enjoyment anyway.
  3. Poor poochie. :( Hope someone can offer some advice. It's no fun watching a miserable dog.
  4. Now that I did not know, good stuff.
  5.
  6. Just an update. My brother and his girlfriend were having problems with their locks at home. Their old and I guess gunked up, a quick shot of balistol and 5 minutes jiggling keys around in their locks and everyone thinks I'm a locksmith. went home after and did mine too, I never realized how bad they were until after. Seriously, anything you would use wd40 for, balistol probably works better.
  7. "No. 4 Enfield. $16.95 1917 Springfield $29.95 '03 Springfield $39.95 German Mauser $19.95 German Lugers. $39.95 or you could get the Reichwehr Double Date Lugers $65 or the Luger "mauser banner model for $90. The Nazi K Series - $75 or Nazi G series $55. And a bunch of other $15-$20 handguns." 10 of each please! :x:
  8. I like the sound of that. We could still do it and just post in long guns.
  9. I don't know why, but the skank making comments about a jacked up flag is really pissing me off all day. Someone deserves a jacked up set of teeth. Open mouth, insert curb.
  10. This. The ammo is out there, just need to break yourself from the bulk box mentality. You'll pay more than you would have in 2011 for it, but its still the cheapest way to shoot.
  11. That looks perfect!
  12. Actually, (here we go again ;) ) there were epiphones guitars build in the USA fairly recently, the epiphone John Lennon had versions made here, china and I'm stretching, but I believe Japan as well. I'm sorry, I'm a guitar nerd and can't help myself. Lester, a couple of things probably came into play with your acoustic experience. China/Korea do have excellent quality control, when the American companies want and pay for it anyway. Their instruments are very similar sounding for a few reasons. The biggest contributer IMO for an acoustic and to a degree an electric, is the finish. Epis and most import guitars are coated in a polyurethane finish that fills the wood, restricts vibrations, and mutes the natural tone of the instrument. Most gibsons martins etc use a nitro based finish witch moves with the wood better and dries out with age becoming thinner and more brittle, which again translates into better movement which again translates into an opener, airier sound. Now there are again, exceptions, and there are some builders using very thin poly finishes that sound great. Just not many. The factory strings also play a large part. If the epis were all fresh from the crate they all had factory strings. As stupid as it sounds some guitars like a brand or gauge of string like some guns like a certain brand of ammo. There's also something to be said for ear fatigue. If you go out and play 12 guitars for 3 minutes each, by the time I hand you # 13 your ears are shot and the tones are all running together. Even when you think that's not happening, it most likely is.
  13. Incorrect. IMO. 1. Gibsons parts aren't made to be custom fit. Their made for mass production same as epiphones. They are made to slightly different specs out of slightly different materials, but not custom made or fit by any means. 2. Epiphones these days are VERY tough to beat for the money. There will be some epis that go head to with gibsons and win and vice versa. The Epi elite line from the FugiGen factory in Japan puts out an exceptionally fine instrument easily on par with Gibson USA stuff. 3. If you keep your eyes peeled you'll see just as many epiphones on TV as gibsons. In fact most of the time unless they've payed for the product placing, the name is blocked out anyway. If you know your guitars you can still ID them off the headstock shape. The one major area Gibson tend to excell over their Epi counterparts are internal electronics, and higher quality nitrocellulose finishes. Some if them don't even come high gloss anymore. Keep I. Kind this all from the guy what has owned 2 epiphones (and one doesn't count, its a 1960's model from when gibsons and epiphones were made at the same plant by the same builders in Kalamazoo) and no les than 10 Gibsons. On average they're "better" guitars, but again that's just on average.
  14. I'm not a doctor. With that out of the way, I don't think one suddenly gets diabetes from drinking too much sugar water. Subscribed.
  15. Just dab a little out of the jar on it to recharge the goodness. D&T arms has them.
  16. No you've got the gist of it, the seller just needs to lay off the crack pipe is all.
  17. Not with an injured shoulder their not. ;) I love them personally but I'll put a recoil pad on if I'm planning on shooting it extensively. I'm young and have a strong back and shoulders. Whether or not one wants to argue if they hurt, they kick like a mule. I'm glad its going to the son. It will likely mean more to him than a collector, just get him to treat it right and shoot it often.
  18. I don't care if Les himself planted the tree the wood came from and it was confiscated by space aliens. Not worth 4k IMO. I'd be willing to bet that in 5-10-25-50 + years the market agrees. That same 4k will go a long way in the currently soft vintage guitar market. Much better use of the money, just as perilous if you don't really REALLY know what your doing. Alot like buying collectible C&R guns, only knock off and repro parts are much more prevalent.
  19. I'm not a member so can't see what's happening, are they trying to sell one for 4k?
  20. They all work mostly the same for cleaning IMO. The real difference lies with the ability to lubricate. I give the nod to balistol as the best all purpose CLP product. It cleans as well as anything, safe on pretty much any material, and does a pretty good job staying put as a lube. Grease maybe better if you use the right kind, but balistol works for me. I will sometimes open a jar of Hoppes just for the smell. B)
  21. Entered. Thanks!
  22. The 53 is a neat rifle. It looks like yours will clean up nicer than you might think. It will always show its age, but a little TLC and it can still be a looker in its own right. Definetly a nice gift, cooler than anything my "friends" have given me. PS. Please give it a good cleaning, it looks like its got some corrosion which should be nipped in the bud before it can spread further.
  23. I love them! Use them to punch paper mostly. The bayonet is a decent mallow roaster when you go camping. :D There's a pretty decent cosmoline removal thread on here, that should give you the basic info to get it clean enough to shoot. Don't forget to strip the bolt, lots of crap was caked on inside mine.
  24. Don't get me wrong, I'd be an eager participant.
  25. I agree to the logic, but it isn't always possible to carry a full size pistol. If for whatever reason your lifestyle prohibited you from carrying anything larger and your only interest in guns was carrying one for defense, I'd say its fairly reasonable that a pocket pistol might just be all you need. Now the concept if only needing one gun may seem strange, I'll admit it has me baffled, but for some out there who have to choose between a little gun or no gun, its an easy choice.
