Good choice! They are super easy to take apart and out together so get into YouTube to see how and give it a good top to bottom cleaning. Ruger is know to overpack their stuff with grease, plus its a great way to get familiar with your new acquisition while you wait to go to the range.

Well I went for the Bushnell. I'll do a full review when it gets here and I take it out. I cheaped out on the mount, went with http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/rings-mounts-amp-bases/scope-rings/30mm-maxima-qd-rings-sku100005553-41028-62636.aspx Instead of a PEPR. If they work well then great, if they're lacking I'll find something else to do with them. I hate the rings on one of my other rifles so I almost hope I go with the PEPR. I also got some spacers to make my 1" scope work with the 30mm rings. ;)

URGENT - Permit-less Car Carry in the Senate Tomorrow
TrickyNicky replied to wk05's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It'll be here before you know it , and the wait gives you plenty if time to stock up on extra handguns. You'll be loosing a lot with all those car break ins. ;) I'm going to use the time to hopefully get a Glock 19. Seems like it would be the perfect car gun, especially when paired up with the keltec sub2K. I've already got some mags for it too, just seems to be the logical choice. -
That's all I got.

Oh yeah. Thread depletion. I'm for it, or against it. Can't recall just now.

That's a great idea, I wish I could double my guns value by buying a holster...

They make fried chicken tacos too if you ask nice.

 FWIW it's back to normal now. That was wierd for a minute there though!

TMCA show this weekend (4/18-20)
TrickyNicky replied to Hershmeister's topic in Events and Gatherings
Well mission accomplished. Went and had a great time. Enjoyed it as much or probably more than the last few gun shows I went to. My plan to identify Hershmeister as "the guy with the Enfield's" turned to ash pretty quick, I felt sure I'd notice someone with a Bren, but didn't see David either. I was only there a little while so its possible I missed him. Found a few things I was interested in, didn't end up buying anything though. Saw a lot of M1 Carbines, some Garands, a bit if everything else including some interesting looking Nagant revolvers (why am I tempted by these?) and a whole table of Nambu pistols. Lots of old pistols, revolvers, all kinds of neat stuff. And that's just some of the guns. Really wanted to pickup a field desk someone had, looked pretty complete I guess, really cool. Just don't know what I'd do with it. Same with an old poster. "Someone Talked " a loose lips sink ships type deal. Really cool, but again, what am I going to do with it? Anyone with the time tomorrow should really stop by and check it out. Lots of fun. -
I've been wanting to try this or something like it. Do you plant eyes in every level or just to start and let them develop naturally from there?

TMCA show this weekend (4/18-20)
TrickyNicky replied to Hershmeister's topic in Events and Gatherings
We'll be there around 1:30. I'll be looking for David and Hersh to say hi. -
I pay a bit more than that for it at Nashville Armory. At least it's going to a real gun store and I can buy 4 boxes at once.

It's not a gun, just an old family medal. We know its real, but documentation is never a bad thing. Maybe I'll be able to drag my dad out of his house on Friday. -

I've seen bits and pieces online but never the whole thing. I need to check it out though. Growing up I listened to them all the time in my moms car, it wasn't until much later that I realized Brian was the mastermind behind it all, and at such a young age to have such a sense of harmony and rhythm. Incredible. There's a pretty good book about the early years, can't recall the name off the too of my head though. -
I would agree they are better out of the box, and a good smith can improve them. But the Rugers aren't bad, cost less, and as I'm a fan of pointing out, you won't find too many, if any "S&W only" loads. They are just crazy beefy. I'd recommend one as a first gun if someone really wanted a revolver. I think Ruger is on top of the heap for best (American made) overall value for the money. S&W is great, but the saved cash can go a long way toward ammo. Having said that I would recommend going to a few shops and putting as many in your hands as possible. If you can rent them to shoot, even better.

Do you know if there will be appraisals done by anyone there? Or are they entirely buy sell trade events? -

Oh and if we're airing our dirty laundry, I've got no shame. I listened to about 6 ABBA songs last night before transitioning to Iron Maiden () which brought me around to the beach boys. The Beach Boys took me to the Everly Bros, and from their I was on a Marty Robbins kick. From there I got side tracked listening to Zapp and Roger, which transitioned to listening to a few EazyE tunes. "His name EazyE, he's got ******* galore you may think you have lots of ******* but he's got much more..." I feel bad sometimes because people look at me and instantly think "metal head" and while I like me some thrash, there's a lot more going on. Hell, I'll even listen to Narco Corrido. I don't like the message or what it's about, but I love the melodies. Won't spent a dime on an album though. I could listen to regular mariachi, but the beat is different. -

IMO CDs sound infinitely better unless you have true audiophile equipment, and even then I would likely give the nod to a cd through similar quality equipment. Vinyl just sounds *right* though. The pops and scratches are the way I heard some songs for the first time and the way I'll always remember them. As for being warmer, methinks not enough people truly understand how pre/post amp setting work. Or speaker selection, or ported vs non ported cabs, etc. Plus they weren't cool for. Awhile which made them the perfect target for hipsters. >:( -
I've thought about it and may grab one, but something else always comes up. the TGO knife is getting some fun money set aside. After that, Dolomite sent me a link that has the solution to a problem gun that I've always thought could be great, but currently  . After I fix that the list goes on. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. Thanks for the heads up though.

Well just look at it! How can one doubt its usefulness is my question.
