  1. Not exactly romantic. Which should matter for all of 5 seconds after the car is parked. :D
  2. I worked some unsavory places back in La, I know what you mean.
  3. Well the later is bad enough. Of course, good to know either way, hopefully it won't matter much longer.
  4. Looks good! One day I'm going to build a very budget oriented rifle to throw one of my 22lr kits in semi permanently. I try to maintain a budget every time, but I always seem to either splurge on an item or two, or underestimate the total cost. I'm getting better though, last rifle built for awhile will be done soon, kept mostly to budget too. Think I'll be in around the same as yours, not including the strikefire. Just waiting on the gas block. Maybe the fact that it's going to my brother has helped me keep on the budget.
  5. Sounds like something I would do. You guys figured it out quick though :D
  6. You forgot group (4). Those who can get it and want it but somehow haven't yet and don't car carry because its illegal and they don't want to have their gun confiscated and blow their shot at maybe one of these days  getting said permit. Guess what group I'm in. ;)
  7. Sorry , with all the threads on new carry laws I misplaced this one. I never said that detraction from the permit process was a bad thing, not did I say anything about getting rid of permits. My sentiments on that pretty much equal those from TMF. I guess what I'm trying to say is that more carry options are a good thing anyway you slice it. I wish the open carry bill had gone through, wouldn't have had a huge impact on the way I live life, I can't strap on a pistol and go about my day at work for example regardless of law there is company policy, but that's not the case for everyone. For those who CAN, and want to, they should be able. I do particularly like the gun in cars bill because it is a big step IMO to removing the *necessity* of a permit to those who want to carry. Not to mention anyone who wants to carry a rifle with a round chambered. While I wouldn't really expect Walmart or mcdonalds to publicly welcome non permit holder to carry , it's still a huge step for people like me who go primarily to work and home.
  8. I wasn't to pay so bad. I'm looking at a possible dentist visit tomorrow. :( One way or another I'm in next week, I just hope I'm one of the first 50, I want whatever Les George is cooking up with Willis.
  9. Just FYI, I bought a JP low profile gas block off Brownells. $45.00 with C&R. You work at a gun store, correct? If you can get dealer pricing it should be the same. I was going to go with a cheaper YHM block for a build I'm finishing. But then I saw how cheap these are right now, shoulda bought more, JP makes good stuff. If you don't work at one or can't get the discounted price, PM me ASAP (in case it's just on sale) and let me know.
  10. I've stopped by J Floyd's a few times but they've never been open. Makes sense, it's been twice that we stopped for gas after a day trip to the area. I do love that in CA you see a lot of fast food attached to gas stations. Subway, McDonalds, all the favorites. But never a gun store. I was absolutely thrilled to see it where it was, plus the whole golf and gun thing tells me that somewhere in East TN someone is living the dream. "Excuse me, do you all have tennis balls ?" "Nope, golf balls and bullets though." "Why not tennis balls?" "I like golf and guns." "So your not worried about loosing a potential paying customer?" "Nope." Seems like a sweet position to be in.
  11. Very sad but very true. My thoughts go out to the family.
  12. That is funny! I wonder if whoever it was felt like a secret agent passing on a top secret code word. "TGO."
  13. It's just basic math. I'm surprised there is still a debate on the matter.
  14. I'm so jealous my teeth hurt. That's all I got.
  15. One other thing to point out, for some people this will make the permit much less than attractive. For instance, if one can carry legally on their property when they leave in the morning, can carry legally at work, and now on their commute, you suddenly only need it to go out of state or into a business that isn't yours. For some people that may be good enough. Plus think about it, if a company like Walmart(for example) were to decide that maybe a permit isn't so important to them either then you would be able to go from home, work, Walmart, back home. Then McDonalds might sense the movement and you can go eat a Big Mac as well, and so on down the line. Its a pipe dream, I know. It's still a nice one though.
  16. Anyone know what's up with FIST? Haven't seen him on hardly at all in the last year.
  17. I had to go other. The Bennelli Nova has a lot going on for it. Very fast and comfortable, plus you can bypass the magazine if you have it loaded with buck shot and want to slip a slug in there quickly. You can get ghost ring sights for it too without spending a lot. The simple ergonomics of the 870 are better though, so it would be a close second outfitted like Oh Shoot has his.
  18. Didn't like the P9 either. Just  at the range and I don't think a gun you enjoy shooting is too much to ask for? For just a carry often shoot little type gun it was great, but I like shooting. :D I'd second the advice to grab an M&P if the extra funds are available. If you can get the Sigma cheap enough, go ahead and get that too. I think the Sigma would be a great home defense gun if one could be had at or around $250 or less. By all accounts reliable and if you did have to use it, at least you wouldn't be out a lot of cash while it's sitting in evidence. Plus it would be more fun to shoot than the keltec.
  19. FTFY. ;) Now the real answer to the caliber war is and always has been the .25acp. Everyone knows 25x2=50 so clearly a good double tap with the lighter, higher capacity, slightly cheaper .25 is the way to go. Fiddy cal results and you can still tuck away it in your sock because who needs holsters?
  20. I like chickens, they are fun to watch and fresh eggs are tasty! That's a good looking coup too. I can't wait to get a little land.
  21. If its Brian Setzer Orchestra and BBVD its that weird swing/big band revival from a few years ago. Wasn't my thing, but Brian Setzer is a genius. For rockabilly see Jeff Becks Crazy Legs or about anything by Rev. Horton Heat. If you want edgier than that, the Legendary Shack Shakers may fit the bill.
  22. Mel's Char Palace. http://www.youtube.com/embed/TjOaw0LugHU?autoplay=1
  23. There don't seem to be many junk rounds available for the 38. Even the aluminum cases blazer shoots straight. Buy whatever is cheap and on hand for target shooting, note that cheap is going to be a relative term with either 38 or 357. As to a load for home defense, there aren't any that I know of that will be less than lethal with just drywall getting in its way. Shot placement is important. Get used to shooting and developed a game plan with your family to try and minimize the chances that someone will be in the line of fire as much as possible.
  24. You're in it.
