  1. I think you have a point, but it's not something I think would really play a part in anything provided as Hipower mentioned it wasn't used previously in a crime. If that were the case a bill of sale might help. Honestly I doubt it would even be looked into if the serial number didn't come back as stolen.
  2. Awesome! I just built my first lower a little while ago. I think it's actually easier than an upper. One of these days I'll figure out what to do with my TGO set. I keep drawing a blank on what to build.
  3. Ok guys, good news, bad news. Today I brought the pup back into work with the idea that we could go to the humane society during lunch. I put her outside in our closed lot this morning to do her business while I took care if some things and she bolted. Apparently our gate has just enough give that she was able to squeeze through. Not good. So I went off in search down the alley and sure as day come across her back in her real yard being pet by her owners looking happier than a pig in waste. They were scolding her when I came up, but she looked ok and want shying away at all from them. I yelled through the fence and asked if it was their dog which they confirmed, a very quick look around showed a huge gap in their fence which I pointed out to them and they thanked me for taking her in when I explained the situation. I was concerned about the gap because it was fairly large and clearly not a dug hole. A few hours later there was a young man outside doing what looked to be some manual labor around the area, hopefully fixing the hole. So there we are. Based in how quickly she adjusted from 'kicked dog' to total ham, her ability to walk well on a leash, and the fact that she was apparently house trained as she had no accidents here, plus seeing her with the owners makes me rethink a few things. She's young, outside on her own, and a large hairy man was trying to entice her inside with 1/2 a cheeseburger (what I had on hand, not my idea of "dog food") maybe she was just legitimately nervous. I don't know. One good thing, I know where she lives. Right behind and a few houses down from work. Doing a few welfare checks a week won't be hard. Under the right circumstances, I'm not above a dog napping, but for now I'm going to call this a hopefully happy ending. If and when there is a next time I see her on the street, there will be absolutely no hesitation, I'm grabbing her and taking her to the humane society. I am going back to the house tomorrow to suggest they chip their dog and get tags made. We'll see how that goes I guess. Thanks all for all the advice, I really appreciate you guys helping me out on this. Hopefully I can still feel good about the outcome as things move forward. As much as I'm nervous that this may not be the right call, she looked happy to see her people and they looked happy to see her. I'd feel like a real monkeydick if I deprived someone of their pet, regardless of whether or not I think she needs more baths. I'm crossing my fingers that this all works out ok for the pup, she deserves to be happy.
  4. Only have experience with the Rockeye unfortunately. I will say its a hell of a knife and has so far stood up well. I use mine constantly and haven't been without it since I got it, er I mean since the 1st of July ;).
  5. ^^^ holy cow he's as big as a cow! Glad your wife found the little one when she did, couldn't have been easy on the street being a blind dog. You guys rock for taking her in.
  6. And of course, pics. :) I tried convincing her shed more comfortable on her own cushion, but noooo.
  7. Thanks guys for all the encouragement. Unfortunately you all have essentially confirmed most of my concerns. She's not going back to wherever she was unless a vet can confirm a chip. I'll share my concerns/ observations and we'll go from there if there is one. As an update, she's here at the apartment for tonight. It was about two hours or so of hanging around and she's starting to get the idea that no ones going to hit her. It took awhile but once she got over it, boy she got over it. She's in my lap acting like a ham. She was great in the car and fantastic on the leash. She has no idea what "no" or "sit" or anything mean, but she's already wanting to play. She went and pooped outside on a leash with no problem in less time that it took to smoke a cigarette so I'm guessing she's been on one before, though walking around without one she's constantly underfoot anyway. At first lagging a few feet behind, but now she's mostly keeping up. As to keeping her, guys I'd love to. She's a sweetheart and I think will snap out of her current funk quickly. The reality of the situation though is that I live in an apartment and work 9-12 hour days. I want the dog to have better than just better than what she had. She'll make a fantastic pet, but she needs a house to live in with a yard, something I won't have for awhile. Thanks for all the advise so far.
  8. Oh and one more thing complicating things, how would I go about finding the owner once I verify she's not chipped? Sorry if it seems back and forth, I'm trying to balance out the rightest thing to do.
  9. Ok gang, I could use some advice getting my head right on a situation. There's a dog in the neighborhood I work in that's been running loose for over a week. Young pit bull. She's clearly got no car sense as I've seen her cause a bit of confusion in the alleyway on several occasions. Everything I've seen her I've tried to get her to come to me with no real luck. She'd hunker down like a kicked dog (pun not intended) and slink forward a few feet before tucking rail and running. Today she must have been hungry, came right up to me and let her pet her, she wasn't enthusiastic though. I finally enticed her in, but now I'm at a quandary, no tags, light by a few pounds by my estimation, flea bit, stinky, and has a bad case of kicked dog syndrome for such a young pup. It's been a few hours and I think she is warming up to me. Let me pick her up, again unenthusiastic but cooperative. Once in my lap she showed no interest in getting down again. I'm fairly sure she's being at best under cared for, worst is she's been undercarrd for and beaten. that's the assessment based on her demeanor, condition, and I hate to say it, but the neighborhood as well. She's dirtier than a dog would be if she had been rolling in poop for the last week and smells like only a dog can. I've washed my hands 3 times and they still stink. Part of me wants to get this girl home, part of me wants to help find her a better home than I can provide. What are my options? Based on what I'm swing after a few hours of hanging out, she's a sweet dog who deserves better. I'm not the kind to pass judgment left and right, but I know a healthy well cared for dog, and I know the opposite. She's in the latter group. So, open to advice, what would you do? I'm also tempted to find the owner and turn her back over on the understanding that they'll take better care of her or end up with my size 12 up their keister, but I know that's not realistic. Thanks guys, I know you'll set me straight.
  10. For me it's been mostly subsonic that's held my interest. Having a can in limbo I've been stocking up. Some of the hyper-super-velocitie stuff has been fun too. I bought some Eley Match awhile back and feel bad about it. I'll feel bad shooting it, I'd feel bad selling it, for over a year now it's been a little 50 round, $20.00 paperweight. one day I'll buck up, load two AR22 magazines and go through $20 of 22lr in 45 seconds. That'll be fun.
  11. Crazy/stupid question Spots, can those still be effectively used as files after having the snot beat out them and all the heating/ quenching?
  12. .05 a round ain't bad... I don't know that I'll be as excited as most folks to see all the bulk packs back. I've gotten spoiled some on the higher end "specialty" .22lr. Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy, but I'd rather see federal match in the 325 round boxes that the value pack 550 box.
  13. They're cool little rifles. They're light, it folds, handy, reasonably accurate (easy 3-4" groups unsupported standing at 25-30 yards), it folds, ammo/mags are cheap and easy to get, it folds, and a lot of fun to shoot too. I got mine just as the panic was peaking, I got mine for MSRP from a good shop. I wouldn't spend the $600+ some are asking, it's not a $600 gun IMO. If you find one with lots of extra mags then that's different of course. I'd be patient and grab one when the price is right, your not missing all that much that any good PCC can't do except for fold in half.
  14. Pretty sure that's been tried some pages back. The gay didn't spread, guess it's not contagious after all. I personally don't see how this thread can sustain itself anymore. At some point we just have to hope that Luke takes The Gamblers advice and recognizes which situation he's in and fixes it. I doubt he'll be back to update regardless, I wouldn't be.
  15. Man looks like you all had a great time. I'm even more intrigued by the mossy now, I've been looking at getting a pump for awhile, but you've got me really thinking about that one... I I'm glad the EAA turned out to be such a winner, always nice to hear when something's nicer than expected. Sounds like you've got a real keeper and all the better when you've sorted out the magazine issues. I'd fairly ignorantly say that it sounds like there's too much spring vs too stiff a spring. Hope it's an easy fix anyway.
  16. Way off topic, but it seems Pelham blue is making quite a resurgence. I approve. Now if we can just get a non CS firebird III in Cardinal Red... :x: with p-90s. :x:
  17. I like #4 the best personally. As someone else stated, less bilboardy. Not an option for now, and maybe never, but I'd really like the state logo without the wording underneath. My only reason is I like the total logo, but I don't want to advertise my online hangouts .com to anyone I show the knife to (employees, supervisors, customers, etc.)
  18. That marlin is sweet. I love a tasteful modernization and you hit the nail on the head IMO. Your carpentry is also looking very good, I really like how that bench came out.
  19. There seems to be 10-13 post per page, so at least into the 70's I'd guess. Keep in mind that thread went on for ever, the bulk of this one happened inside a week.
  20. Colt makes a fine weapon and I'd spend a little more on one. Having said that, this is the day of the AR and prices are cheap. Your playing more than a little extra for that dancing pony.
  21. I'd just call dlm370. He sells to a lot of the forum guys and I've heard nothing but great things about him. He's the guy I'm calling after a few more of my other irons are out of the fire.
  22. Just when you thought it was safe............
