  1. As a retail manager I see this frequently. You ask the question "who hangs onto a receipt for a $20 pair if jeans?" I'll tell you now that people do. As far as wanting management to violate RMA policy, and no matter how you phrase it, that's what it is, is akin to me asking you to knowingly violate a work policy set by your supervisors/corprate officers. Now that it isn't to say that being a PITA long enough (which it does NOT sound like you were IMO) or even hitting up the right manager on the right time might yield your desired results, but that doesn't change that its wrong. Those replacement jeans don't grow on a tree outside TSC, they have to pay for them. In order to offer a warranty they need to also receive one themselves from the manufacturer. If part of TSC getting theirs is you having a receipt, then that's that. Personally I have a little policy with warranties, if it's not worth hanging onto the receipt, it probably isn't worth trying for a replacement. Especially if I've gotten my dollar out of the item. Additionally, cause no horse gets 1/2 a beating :) , your issues likely aren't covered by a workmanship warranty, they would be if they were bought new with broken loops, but them breaking with use is typically considered wear and tear. The real noodle scratcher here is "who warranties a pair of pants?" I guess I don't see why a manufacturer would put a warranty on a wearable, ultimately disposable good like pants?
  2. I'm sure there are better products out there for each of the things I use it for, which aren't all firearm related. For me though it does a "good enough" job at all it's many used that I'll over look the fact that it's not "the best" at any of them. I do still use grease on areas that should be, but as far as corrosion inhibition, my guns live in an environmentally stable, climate controlled home. They get taken out and cleaned at least once a year and some of them any time I shoot them on top of that, so far so good as far as rust is concerned. Really it could have been any product that I landed on, I just got tired of all the "your guns never been this clean" or "so good it cleans itself" and just stopped giving a darn about that aspect of gun ownership. I'm sure in a year or less I will care again briefly, pick a new favorite and repeat. Until then, Balistol FTW!!
  3. Dude, your spitting out some good old fashioned truth there buddy. Wish I could like this 10,000 times.
  4. Balistol FTW. It looks like good data Erik, thanks for posting.
  5. I don't get retail pricing on magpul mags in general. I understand very well the difference between online commerce and brick and mortar retail, but aside from the times I bought some at D&T when they did transfers for me, I can't imagine paying $20 for something you can get as cheap as $9 online. On one hand I guess retailers ave figured out that having mags sit on the shelf isn't such a bad thing, every 4 years at least they'll sell out ;) I guess I just figure that with the Internet dictating price they would mark them down as a loss lead, but then again my rough understanding of firearm retail is that the GUNS are the loss lead items and the bread and butter come from mags/holsters/sights/etc. A real noodle scratcher.
  6. I'd bet even money there's some spring out of spec that's the cause of all that. Might be quicker and easier to take it to A local smith, and while it might not be cheaper, it might still be pretty cheap.
  7. Well it sure ain't Eastern European I can tell ya that. I like it! You could take that and 100 other ARs and throw them in a pile and pick yours out without even really looking. Plus, it's the General!
  8. Hate to say it, but make the drive to middle TN. The shops out here are mostly all top notch and even the bad ones sound about the same as the ones you've mentioned.
  9. Hopefully they can get the price around there daveW. I really can't see spending more than that when the high point carbine is still so cheap, kel-techs are seeming to be more available, and things like the aero survival rifle or JRC can be had in the price ranges higher. I'm sure there is a market for people looking to spend modern gun money on a reproduction that looks 90% like the original, but honestly if they want this to be a seller I can't see it being more than that.
  10. Sell it as a parts gun or gunsmith special and go buy the Ruger SR22. Problems solved.
  11. I can't say how many times I almost bought one of those little .22's. I like the look a lot and it would be about as handy a little center console gun as any. Might still be worth looking into, but this does bump it quite a ways down the list.
  12. ^^^This. A "Good Faith Warranty" would be a deal breaker for me on so many products, but I wouldn't think twice about buying a used Ruger all the same!
  13. So, where exactly does the guy who never got chicken pox but was vaccinated against them in his mid 20's stand on the whole shingle thing? This is more confusing than the ebola.
  14. At those prices, likely not ever for me. I had a chance at an Inland for $450 some months ago. Told the guy to come talk to me the next week, but he'd sold it by then. Should have just walked my happy ass over to the ATM
  15. Going FA above the line would get expensive quick!

    Ruger LCR 9mm

But again, what's the plan for shell extraction with a cut cylinder? I'd love for that to work realistically, but I'm ignorant as to how it can unless you want to push empties out with a pen or something.
  17. Very sorry for your loss. It sounds like she was a great women who will be remembered warmly by many people.
  18. For a G-18 I'd think you'd have better odds if finding a dealer sample for rent in Vegas. Not sure who's card you had, but Nashville Armory does have some FA stuff for rent, pricey though.
  19. Guns&Leather Greenbrier (615) 643-4865 Give him a call and ask him, he's an experienced and formally educated smith so I would guess so, but there may be a limiting factor involved in that kind of work. Call him, he's very approachable and you'll know in 5 min or less what he can do for ya and maybe even a ball park price.
  20. welcome aboard Jason and thank you for your service! :USA:
  21. Looks like you all had a good time there. Some cool equipment too.
  22. I'll see your clever poster and raise you a box of RUGER ONLY rated ammo :D But really both are great American builders making great guns. As to the merit of a beefier or slimmer revolver it really just depends I guess on preference and need. I have a GP100 and had my dads 66 for a while there too, I shot both and enjoyed both, in my case I shot the 66 more, but that is really only because the GP is still LNIB and I keep thinking I may give it to someone one of these days and want it to be clean if I do. The GP is every bit of a pleasant shooter as the 66, though the 66 has a much better trigger. I do like the take down of the GP a lot more than that of a S&W, it's IMO much more intuitive and and very easy to make modifications or swap parts if desired. One thing I would recommend if your leaning with the S&W is to thoroughly research all of their models and learn your options in any given frame and barrel length.
