  1. I broke down and stripped my BCGs a few a weeks ago. Most are still too new to have a lot of funk, but my BCM was narrrsty! It never got to a point where I was concerned about failures, I'd guess the bolt itself has had maybe 6-700 through it. That is one benefit to having multiples of the same weapons, none of them ever get too bad since I switch around between a few uppers. Now with a few more ready to go I doubt I'll have to break them down again for a few more years. I am also coming to really appreciate the Nib and nitrided BCGs. So nice to clean...
  2. I'm in Red. I don't have a saiga of my own, but only a fool would pass up the opportunity to train on such an effective technique with some new toys. One question though, any interest in a partial trade? I've got at LEAST 1k semi/used .22lr cartridges. I can also offer some cross training if your interested in having me walk you through some tactical truck drills including dropping your pistol(s) down your waistband before rolling under your truck and firing up and through it into your targets. I've got a good practice truck, but I'd bring yours anyway as I am a firm believer in training as you fight. Take both options to cover your class and I'll through in a dual shoulder rig and 3-way ankle to knee weapon retention system as well. Let me know.
  3. The UTG pro is super sweet IMO. I have one on my TGO set as well and the lines really blend well from the milled upper to the handguard. They are worth more than they're selling for IMO. That reminds me, I need to take pics and share them with you all yet... Great build R-Bert looks like it will be a fine shooter!
  4. That was great! RE: the road, those looked like tire tracks, probably their tire tracks...
  5. He made a cameo in the Ali G movie, but I'm pretty sure he was a character they'd do on the actuall Ali G show. Of note, if you haven't watched the Ali G interviews they are friggin hilarious. Buzz Aldrin was my favorite, you could tell he new pretty quick he was being pranker, but he had fun with it and didn't spoil the joke.
  6. Hard to say, with all the variables; temperature, barrel diameter, sight radius, etc. I think what we may need here is a box of truth type series of tests. I'd be really curious if the melted Pringles lids, er I mean thermomolds will act like frangible HPs. I'm thinking they might if I pre score some fracture points before hand. There's a lot of work to do with this yet...
  7. Yup. The Gen 1 models have a pretty distinct cheek weld built in for a wrist strap. ;$
  8. I like the mythbusters and think they did a good job most of the time but where they got caught with their pants down so to speak is in their underestimation of the human element. Just about anytime they'd build a robot in place of a human and base their opinion on how their machine performed I'd die a little inside. Now with that in mind I've had my doubts on the Hancock shot and given the matter a small amount of though. I'm inclined to believe that it happened, but I agree with SWTN in that I wouldn't be surprised if accounts were a bit embellished. Mainly I have my doubts that it was a blind shot with only the memory of a flash to guild it, but then again who knows anyway.
  9. You'd think that, but it's all in the wrist action. I was having a hard time mastering this too, but I think I got it now. I just had to retrieve a pmag from my neighbors. It flew through the wall fine, and even hit hit my neighbor on his head, but I think for real world use you're actually better off with GI mags. Those sharp pointy corners will come in handy. Anyway, if your learning this indoors and don't have an industrial tub of spackle around you might grab one. There is no way I'm getting my deposit back after my homemade flash bang incident, so I'm not too worried, beside the family next door has some weird privacy issues so they'll patch the holes on their side anyway.
  10.     LOL, the later unfortunetly. They had a quick turn around, but I think it was still about 2 weeks or so. Just enough time to get it out of my head, then it was like a nice surprise when it showed up.
  11. Right back to your address. I had to ship a Henry youth carbine back to the factory right from the box. They fixed it back up and it was waiting for me at home one day.
  12. Well there ya go OP, the option IS out there. ;) guess I didn't look hard enough...
  13. Your talking barrel length and not gas system length, correct? I don't think I've ever seen a .300 barrel longer than 16". I'm sure they're out there somewhere if nothing else as a custom option, but I did a bit of digging and a while back and never did see anything. Dolomite will probably be here with better info shortly, but I was also wanting a .300 rifle and ended up going with a 16" barrel with a pistol length gas system. If you want your rifle to run through the gamut of suppressed/unsuppressed and sub and super sonic loads that's what I'd recommend along with an adjustable gas system. Like I said though, Dolomite has done A LOT with this round and has tons of good posts here on it. If nothing else do a forum search for his content and wade through some of it for a few hours. You'll learn a lot.
  14. Only problem with that plan is it's already easy enough for a LBK, stripped upper, and buffer tube to transmorgafy into a full on rifle unprovoked. Start keeping multiples of something around and you'll likely end up with multiple rifles before your even sure just what happened.
  15. My understanding is the residue is no worse than the shot cup will leave after time. Shouldn't be too hard to get it cleaned out.
  16. 2014 saw some interesting times for me as far as guns and the like go. Between my newfound interest in reloading, a brief period of time where I lost my sense and bought 4 Mosins in 4 weeks, it's been fun. I would say that one of the potentially big changes this year too is my firearms trust. Hopefully 2015 is the year of the form 1 with a few SBR and cans coming my way. It hasn't been all positive, but I won't sit around and waste time on looking at the losses, too few and far between and in the grand scheme of things, pretty unimportant. 2014 was a great year for me and my guns, I'm hoping 2015 is as well, but also see's me stepping back from buying a bit and instead working with what I have already.
  17. Hipsters try to ruin everything. It's in their DNA or something. I've got a few players still, but of course my good setup is long gone. I've for a few all in one units that play records CDs and tapes, work fine but don't have a great eq, amp, needle or speakers so sound quality isn't quite there. Still fun to dust off Beckola or some Skynyrd albums and play through them though.
  18. I've never done it but I did grab a few extra bulk packs to try out one day. Even have the double barrel, just never sat and did the thing yet.
  19.   Took me a minute, but I knew I'd seen that office!
  20. Sounds like someone invested in the right tools for the job...
  21. I tried doing as poorly as I possibly could. Either these are primarily trick questions with no technically wrong answer or the thing is rigged.
