  1. Used to be able to buy burl pipe blanks from ebay and some wood suppliers. I would take a look online to get an idea what the blanks look like and is be willing to bet you could about take it from there as far as the crafting goes. Getting the bowl cut proper looked trickier than it looked if that makes sense, but doable. I used to have a good book on pipes that went through construction and materials, I'll take a look for it but I dont remember seeing it for a few years.
  2. Do you reload? If so a .300 is a great option I'm surprised hasn't been brought up. If you you reload and you should be able to make some subsonic rounds that will be easy on the ears even without a suppressor.
  3. I have all three of the linear comps below, all are designed to help redirect the muzzle blast forward and you can buy all 3 for less than the price of the Noveske flaming pig. None of them are the exact same thing, but I think for what you want they would be perfect options.  All are good cheap choices you can try and they won't break the bank, but of my money the kinetic-tech are by far the best value.       http://www.kineti-tech.com/muzzle-brakes-2/ This is my favorite out of the 3 for a few reasons. Primarily its ability to pull double duty as a comp and blast director. It's pretty light weight so throwing it on a rifle barrel won't be a big deal. The machining and finish are good quality and the price is pretty good for all that you get. I'll be buying a second one of these eventually.     http://www.kakindustry.com/kak-industry-flash-can The KAK can is a good option for redirecting sound, but it has a big drawback as well in that it is heavy. I have mine on a 7.5" barrel and it handles great, but I wouldn't put it at the end of a carbine or rifle, too nose heavy. It is very robust however. They make a slimmer version now to cut back on weight, might be worth looking into.   http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/barrel-parts/compensators/levang-linear-compensator-prod5594.aspx   Last but surely not least is the humble Levang. I actually really like this little guy. Relatively light, streamline-ish design and super super simple. I have had best luck with this one throwing it on the end of a 20"rifle to just "smooth" up the shooting experience. It's a good product but the finish is lacking. Ipainted mine t match the barrel so no big deal for me but YMMV,
  4. I've got the same kinet-tech on my 300 as well and I think it's a great piece of gear. The pitch is apparently the same one as the infamous oil can device which has lead to a lot of thought on form 1ing a real can to said pitch and buying cheap, readily available adapters for using it on other guns. Maybe one day. Good job on the pistol too BTW, looks great!
  5. I'll take it, PM sent!                                                 JK :D sure is a looker though, I'd say you did real real good on that one.
  6. Guys, guys guys.       It's clearly a Samoan Slasher.
  7. Sounds like you owe me! ;)   Seriously though Daniel runs a tight ship up there. I've never failed to be treated like royalty at the best and a well liked if slightly estranged brother in law at the 'worst'. I guarantee it's not because they of any TGO affiliation either as I don't think I've ever talked to the same cat twice over there. I'd be shocked if anyone knew me by sight, but they sure treat me like one of their best customers anyway.

  9. Did a little voice inside your head say 'don't look back, you can never look back'?             Because I'm willing to bet it did.
  10. I guess I'm in the minority here, I think they look great. If I want a cookie cutter S&W style revolver I'll grab a S&W. I've wanted one for a awhile now but I keep waiting to luck into one at a crazy price.
  11. Look great! I have one built pretty similar; 1/8 twist 5R rifling, 223 wylde chamber, 20" though. Other than that and going with a different hand guard we got the same stock, nib BCG scope and I believe mount. I've got a different bipod adapter too :p .   I like mine a lot so I'm guessing yours will be great too lol.
  12. If it makes financial sense to pay movers  to deliver and install it twice on top of that price I'd say go for it, otherwise I would probably wait until  Iwas all settled in if I was planning a move.
  13. :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:  :bowrofl:   You sir are my new hero!         Who needs a hobby with a spear gun on yer rifle?
  14. I don't get the sudden craze in cinnamon flavored sugary booze. They've existed at least since I was a kid and lord know cinnamon schnapps outdates anyone here, but it really does seem like they are getting heavily marketed just now. I couldn't agree more, I think the stuff is gross. It was fine when it was just stuff like schnapps, goldsclagger, and aftershock, but now they are dragging poor defenseless, quality intoxicants into the mix and thats just not right. Poor batch of JD never had a choice, and it never had a chance :(
  15.   When was the last time you saw surplus brass x39? I still have some but haven't seen any in years.
  16. Well, maybe next year we can get the HCP rolled up to 8 years too. :x: Not that it makes real sense to do it that way, but we can hope for the next best anyway.
  17. I'd probably go for a new stripped lower personally, but the TNarms co lowers do seem like a cut above the standard poly lower.   Related question; If Caster where to go ahead and SBR his poly lower and something breaks, SHOULD Tn Arms co consider it under warranty, would Caster get a new lower with the same serial number, and if so would he need to do any reregistering on the new lower? If that would be the safe Id say get the wood burner and a sixes and start filing out paperwork, otherwise I'd sell the poly lower and buy a aluminum one. Or just buy an aluminum one.
  18.         Mines non magnetic for sure, just checked. The new ones might be steel but mine isn't. It's about maybe 2009-2011.    I'll throw in my .02 here and say I wish they would make a vaquero convertible already. That in mind the versatility of the BHC made it an easy choice for me. I would recommend getting a set of pachmayer grips not because you need the extra padding, but those grips are friggin tiny! Yes I know about tucking the pinky under to shoot, but I like having a grip that fits much better.   And yes Hipower, the 9mm and .38s are mouse farts out of one. :)
  19. As a Ca native I can say been there, done that, I'll pass on the T-shirt. These changes amount to back door registration in the worst case scenario and an expensive, wasteful violation of privacy in the best case. Screw that.    As far as it "not being a big deal" to head down to an FFL and go through a BGC to loan or borrow a weapon or give or sell one to a friend or relative, my thoughts are:   1. If it's not a big deal to do it, it must not be a big deal NOT to do it. Screw it.   2. Screw that.   3. I wonder how many FFLs are in the immediate area? I guess if theres one on every block, anyone wishing to do so may in fact find out "it's not a big deal". My guess is that they are fewer and farther between that deputies. Screw that.   4. What does the state pick up out of this, and what are the FFLs picking up out of this? In CA a private sale costs you $35 to commence with I believe $20 to the state and $15 for the FFL. Sounds great huh? "Want to borrow my gun pal? That'll be $70." Screw that.   5. I hate to bring up my old nemesis logic, but it stands to reason that people who felon for a living are not likely to give two slices of excrement about breaking another law. The only ones who will are law abiding citizens. Screw that.       It sucks that an elected official has to tell his people he can't follow through with something for lack of funding, and thats probably an honest part of his stance, but in this particular case I'm glad they can't afford to do it. Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed today but screw a whole boatload of that.
  20. Helps me plenty. I'll be sticking with Bushnell and may send a bit of money BSAs way since I've liked what I've seen from them at a cheep price point. I'll be sure to steer clear of Mueller if this is their idea of backing up a product.
  21. If no one else is making the run I'll drive it up, I'm sure someone from that neck of the woods will be though. Give me a holler otherwise.
