  1. I was unaware of his former vendor status when I made the call. FWIW, I did mention that I became aware of his business and rep for good work through TGO. Tell ya what, I will mention it again when I drop it off along with maybe a not so subtle hint that he should reconsider that course of action. He is local to me, has a very good rep and the price quoted sounds great to me. No offense to any of the vendors here, I really appreciate this site and the people who make it happen.
  2. Pics? No idea myself but I'm just curious if it's pin striped or what?
  3. I talked to Brandon a few days ago and it looks like he will parkerize it for me so I'm a happy camper. Thanks for the advise guys I think my dad will be much happier, and I'm happy knowing he's happy.
  4. Ditto, I figure some cb rounds through a suppressed bolt gun = indoor shooting fun.
  5. I have a p-32 bought from another forum member here. So far I really like it, very light weight, no issues with the admittedly low round count so far. They really do seem hit or miss but so are kahrs costing three times as much. The most common gripe I've read is folks taking their new gun to the range experiencing some form of failure and promptly condemning the gun, model of gun, and manufacture as complete crap. IMO, you probably know best for your self. If you are a guy who demands only the best, maybe kel tec wouldn't be the right choice for you. If your a gambling man or tinkerer they may be just the ticket. So in conclusion, I like mine ymmv.
  6. Fwiw I belong to or have belonged to many forums over the past decade or so. Guitar forums gardening forums gun forums etc. Even though I'm kind of new here TGO has been my favorite so far. I believe the fact that members live and work in the same communitys as one another really makes a difference some how.
  7. Yup, kind of sucks but from the sound of it this may be your best bet if you can swing it. If you can put aside the fact that you seem to feel disrespected you may also look into sone noise canceling headphones for your tv. There are probably about a thousand ways to begin and escalate a sound war in a conjoined space like that, but honestly your best bet is probably just going over and apologizing for being rude before (even though IMO it doesn't seem like you where) and see where that gets you. More flys with honey and all that. Besides who knows, she be hard of hearing. I used to cut my upstairs neighbor alot of slack when I found out she could barely hear. Then I moved.
  8. When I was in the 8th-9th grade I got to meet The Fonze. A teacher of mine knew Mr. Winkler and asked him If he wouldn't mind coming into to class to speak. He didn't mind. I was really REALLY excited as I was a huge happy days fan as a kid. He was sooo cool, telling stories making jokes etc. Did you know there was only one time Henry actually rode Fonzys motorcycle? He crashed so they started pulling it on trailer or having doubles do all the riding. Also note if you pay attention to the scenes in Fonzys garage he can frequently be spotted using a screw driver like a wrench, he is not mechanically inclined in real life. I do remember cracking him up, he made his visit right around the same time "water boy" came out so he of course had to spend a few minutes saying Gatorade really slow and drawn out like he did on the movie. When I got shake his hand I asked if he remembered the time Fonzy had to dress up like a nerd to save richie and potsy from a gang of biker chicks. Right on cue he said "snail circus" in this hilarious nasaly voice he used. It was great, just what I wanted to hear and he was laughing too, probably didn't get alot of 13-14 year olds asking about that. Got an autographed photo with a nice sentiment written for me. Truly a first class dude from my experience, not many celebrities would just show up and talk to a bunch of kids for free, but he really seemed to enjoy it almost as much as I did. I also had a buddy who lived in the Hollywood hills, "Nancy" from the show weeds flipped him the bird once. I've also met more than a few adult actors/actresses, most are completely different from what you'd expect, some are EXACTLY what you'd expect.
  9. I would love to get it re-parked, actualy that would be ideal but I haven't seen or heard of anyone local to do it. I hear Garand specialist should be set up to do it. Thanks for the info so far fellas, its really appreciated.
  10. Very nice! It hadn't occured to me until now that my mom used to be the arts and crafts lady at camp... She loves to lanyard! I'm gonna get a spool and see if she'll hook me up.
  11. Any one have any experience getting their gun done in or around Nashville? My dad has a 2" snub with a worn out parkerized finish that we'd like to spruce up a bit. I've been tempted to get a can or two and try my hand at this, however were talking about a gun my dad wore the original bluing off of followed by the replacement finish so this is a meaningful piece that I would like to see professionally done. Any recommendations? Good feedback, bad feedback, ideas? Also open to other options so long as they are durable and clean looking. Thanks guys
  12. I got a chance to try a suppresed buckmark today, I have to say I liked it (the gun) just a little bit better than my mkiii. The slide can pinch thumb sometimes on the mkiii which doesn't seem to be an issue with the buckmark. All else seemed equal from a function/accuracy standpoint.
  13. I keep all the reg papers unfilled in the box. I figure I can always fill them out if I have an issue and I like the fact that most of my guns are "complete". For me it's a hold out from guitar collecting. Some of you may be surprised at the price difference between a 67 melody maker, and a 67 melody maker complete with original reciept and hang tag.
  14. I guess it would depend on application. Are you looking for a casual plinker, a combat trainer, bullseye machine, or even a carry piece? As stated above with so many options available right now your in luck just so long as you can narrow down exactly what you want and why. I'm looking at the sr22. myself but I already have a mk3 for plinking and what not.
  15. One more little bit of info for ya, the inner workings on the OP are apparently very similar to those of the much lusted for colt python. Not being a true expert or having owned a python, I can't be any more specific but the info is out there.... TNWNGR, I agree everyone should have at least one and I wouldnt mind a bakers dozen.
  16. I have a 1956 4" that belonged to my grandfather. As has been said they will spoil you with their smooth double and crisp single action. Many times revolvers bought by agency's will have a separate number on the bottom of the grip that can aid in identification. You can try typing your serial number along with "colt official police" and a few web pages should pop with some info on dating. IMHO, these are not worth selling if they hold any family history, the pricing is up and down and they made probably millions of these over the years. Wither way, once again IMHO the colt letter is a VERY good idea, especially if you may sell. Good condition department guns may fetch a premium with some collectors allowing you to make up the price difference of the letter. Personally I would spend about $50 more for one with the letter than one without all else being equal. If you decide to sell... Holla at me! (MODS: if I am breaking a rule with a potential buy offer , PLEASE let me know so I may moddify this post)

    New Gun Store

Hey Matthew good luck with the store, where are you planning on locating? As far as your question, unfortunately you'll probably find you just have to have everything. I own single actions, semis, SA/DA, 9mm, 357.,.22,..... You get the idea. I think these days most anything you stock will probably sell so long as it's not priced like a family heirloom .
  18. Charlie definitely seems like the kind of guy you'd have to try to make mad at you. Last January I was there a few times as my brothers guest, well the last trip I forgot to pay my $5. We even chatted with Charlie a bit before heading to the pit for some fun. About half way through the day it dawned on me that I hadn't payed so I tracked him down and shelled out my money along with an explanation that I had forgot, he just smiled and asked how we were fixed for targets. What are the rapid fire rules there? I asked and he just told us to be safe and keep our bullets in the berm IIRC
  19. Went out and did a little range time today. my best friend, his girlfriend, her little brother and I had a great time. The weather was great, we never waited for a bench, just the ideal range day. I was quite proud today, it was the girlfriends brothers first time firing and when we got there my buddy told him "go with Nick, listen to what he says, watch him and he will teach you to shoot." That felt really good, not just to have my friends trust but to be able to have a part in creating a true enthusiasm that I think judging by today will last a lifetime for the boy. We got him involved with a few different guns today starting and ending with my newish mk3 which was a big hit with everyone. In between we got him shooting a few .38s, a couple of 9mms, and even the Garand! He didnt want to shoot the 30-06 because of the noise and visible recoil, but we had a few words on facing fears and he went for it. I couldn't help but to be amused because out of the nine or so guns we brought, he really seemed to have the best time with my Romanian M69 little bolt action. I don't mind, heck the ammo doesn't get any cheaper than that! Funny thing is the mag for that disapeared years ago so it's not what alot of twelve year olds would consider cool or fun. At the end of the day I am happy. My thumbs are sore from loading magazines, but I am happy.
  20. I like Ron Paul. I don't agree with him 100%, but honestly I think he's one of the few politicians who cares more about the country he serves and the people in it than lining his own pocket. I think the ultimate irony in the upcoming election is that few if any republicans will be voting democrat, while not enough will be voting RP on the grounds that he can't win and they want a republican in office. Few if any democrats will be voting Romney or Santorum, but I think more than a few might vote RP. Start adding the group that will definatly vote RP, the republicans who "would if he could" and the democrats who just don't want anymore change, and you might just have a significant part of the country.
  21. I don't know, I think I kind of prefer the ksg, especially considering you could buy two and still have money for an awful lot of ammo for that price. Cool concept though.
  22. I'd say the kel tec under the circumstances. Maybe it's just me but thirty rounds of anything in a pistol just has my name all over it. Besides, 9mm semi autos just get kind of boring on the range if you arent training or dont have something else to shoot with.IMO grab the one that you will want to shoot the most.
  23. It's really too bad they either make a run with it, or at least have sold the idea to a company who would.
  24. Whew, that's quite a list. I feel you though, I have more projects planned after my move than I will likely get done this year. I want/need to do a saiga conversion, narrow down a ccw choice, pick up a few fun guns, plus there's this amp I have been looking at... Maybe not a gun on that last one but still a $600 chunk out of the budget.
  25. All the time. Guns have malfunctioned or just been completely ineffective. I have had dreams where multiple chops or strikes at opponents do nothing more than if a six year old hit you. My least favorite, I will be going somewhere and things will be fine, once I arrive it's like I'm drunk or something, falling over not being able to communicate, or even really function. I hate those. Any one else ever have dreams your running but you can't really run well you strat using your arms like a gorilla?
