  1. My brother got a similar gift a while ago only it was in a biplane. I'll ask about the details if you like. I think anyone with an interest in aviation would have a hoot doing something like that. Golf gear like shooting gear seems highly personal, unless you know his tastes very well I personally would recommend letting him buy his own. Unless you know his ball brand preference and just want to buy him a bucket...
  2. Yeah I had one for a few years but ended up selling it back to the friend I bought it from. Great piece, very accurate. The only things IMO separating it from a modern carry weapon are slightly "funny" shape, inferior mag release, and low capacity single stack magazines.
  3. Bush was/is pretty unintelligent at times, Obama is just plain old bad news. I just find it unfortunate that many people have and will again this year find themselve forced to vote for someone not because they think he is the right man for the job, but because they don't want the other guy in office. It's like voting in reverse, we are just basically settling on the lesser of two evils as opposed to picking the best our country can offer. At least that's the way I feel.
  4. Well maybe one day when your a bit older, after someones given you "the talk" you'll be ready. How bout some ice cream for now instead? Seriously though, good movie just not something IMO suitable for family night.
  5. Now I realize this may be a bit premature, but whats the third thing I should get? First is a mosin with matching revolver so I'm thinking walther p1? Any ideas guys?
  6. Doh, I just got my C&R application in the mail yesterday. What do you think the odds are these will last another 2-3 months.
  7. I along with probably most here can't count the times I'd have been killed in a mistaken no knock situation, and who could blame the individual PO? Think about it, he comes in and the very first thing he sees is a coffe table full of "dangerous firearms capable of firing multiple shots in succession" with some angry/surprised half nekkid guy sitting behind said table "brandishing" yet another " dangerous" weapon? I don't know how to feel about the In legislation, I do believe no knock=no good.
  8. Very true! But... How did you know I'm new to the area with no friends? You spying on me bro? Lol
  9. This is also true regardless of political orientation of said President. Anyway I'd of said "Millions of people inconvenienced by NY officials due to poor planning of Obama visit."
  10. You know I find myself sitting in silent agreement with Caster a lot. This post about sums up my feelings perfectly, cept I'd use sausage gravy. There was an excellent documentary made a while back about Larry Flint called "Left Alone" now think what you like about him, his publication, morals or lack there of, he made a few very good points about this being one of the biggest individual issues in the country. I highly recommend watching the film, not at all an abundance of nudity but certainly some suggestive material not suited for an immature viewer.
  11. +1 Can't stand the stuff! Can't say that I've had limberger or not, probably as my dad used to love giving us kids odd foods. I'd probably like it, cheese is one of my favorite food groups. I have no idea what I eat that would be considered odd. I'm sure there's something but it all seems normal to me.
  12. I didn't hear any ZZTop in there, but hey I kinda liked it. "I got twenty-five five..."
  13. Cool sounds like you guys had a good time. Got a chance to meet member BigK a little while ago to hand off a knife I picked up when walmart had them on clearance. Definitely a cool guy, we had a chance to hang out and chat for a bit about guns, knifes, and the like. A good experience, I'd like to meet some more of you guys anytime.
  14. May I humbly suggest Wild Zero? The only real rock n roll, alien zombie, arms dealing, love story with a twist. It's from Japan so subtitles are part of the deal. Also includes a built in drinking game. Any time a head pops, building/vehicle explodes, fire shoots out of something, or Guitar Wolf drinks, you take a drink. My advise is pick one to drink from if at all.
  15. The cold steel stuff is pretty BA in my opinion, I just can't bring myself to buy swords and hammers and what not. My problem? My neighbors already think I'm strange enough without having to see me out in the yard swinging medieval weapons around. As my dad gets older and more reliant on the old blackthorn stick the thought has occurred to replace his with one of theirs. Just something cool about a walking stick capable of demolishing a solid block of ice. Especially when wielded by someone with years of baton training.
  16. Total bada$%. it's funny, in a way even modern day US snipers owe a certain "debt" to Simo. He basically made it up as he went along and many of his techniques eventually got taught to the Ruskies who in turn eventually went on to share them with us. The real moral of his story IMO is how even just a few bound and determined locals can really make life hell for invading forces using not so common sence, a good understanding of the lay of the land, and even rudimentry equipment. Good reading TN Outlaw. BTW, did you ever look up Billy Dixons incredible shot with the Sharps rifle? A story I think you would enjoy.
  17. Thanks so much! I'm waiting on the order so I'll let you know if/when. I also may use the chromed part as a template to build one out of rosewood in which case I'd hate to have you do the work for no reason. Cerakote may work, but I would be worried about the possible reaction between that and the nitrocellulose laquer I'm using. Don't know if they'd be compatible or not... Thanks again for the kind offer Sam1, that's very generous of you.
  18. Thanks Dolomite, I'll check out one of the local shops that seemed promising. Barring that I'll use some 0000 steel wool on the chrome to take down the shine a bit, see how that goes.
  19. Ok that was funny! "my red dot with the leopard scope makes you see like a leopard, I should have it paid off in about seven years..."
  20. Any body have a lead on someone who does plating in the Nashville area? I have a few small guitar parts I'd like to get done. I've found a few places on the google but hopefully someone has some first hand experience or better yet does this for a living. Thanks for any advise. <EDIT> also would not be terribly opposed to shipping as the parts are small enough to fit in an envelope, if anyone outside the Nashville area has any info.
  21. What a jerk. I'm with Caster about following him around embarrassing him for the rest of the show. I've always had a bit of trouble respecting unrespectable individualls, teachers, administrators, even the occasional coworker or boss. I can remain civil and even down right pleasant with most anyone but my respect is earned, with me, as an individual, with respect. I also agree with Dolomite, it seems there is a great deal of emphasis placed on respecting and to a certain degree heeding the word/s of the elderly. While on one hand I understand that it takes a certain amount of cunning to survive so long, I've heard some profoundly stupid and down right ignorant opinions out of old mouths, I've also heard profound wisdom from the mouths of babes.
  22. I think you've had enough. Lol.
  23. As I stayed in another thread, Hollywoods in Colorado. To sum it up, (and this is just my little hunch) these people buying the high dollar stuff on the show are actors. No reall money is changing hands and if it is it's being put up by the production company. Havent you all noticed how the customers all look their part to a T? Whats to gain? "Awe factor" The target audiance doesnt want to hear about $2,000. They WANT to hear about $20,000. As an added bonus, the owner gets to start charging astronomical prices to real customers and basing the value off show prices. "Hey man I usually get $9,000 for a job like that, $6,000 is a bargain" Either way even if they weren't over priced, they're full of crap. There was an episode when the wife was doing a benefit shoot for local firefighters, she started out the deal by stating "Because this weapon is fully automatic with a barrel length of 12" you guys can never own one. Today will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to shoot one" Last I checked Co was pretty firearm friendly, also since fire fighters (rightfully) make a pretty decent living I think it's safe to say she was blowing smoke. Terrible show IMO, worse than sons of guns.
  24. Auto correct like many things is a double edged sword, some time it helps when your not sure how to spell, some times it makes an a$$ out of you.
  25. Also Red Sun, another Bronson movie that should be seen by anyone indulging in a western kick.
